Notes from the RE s Desk Matthew Cox 2014 - Starting New Things Welcome to 2014! Things are changing for 2014. In Club Racing, things are different, but the same, and in Solo, a flock of new classes will take to the pavement. These changes affect the operations of NRSCCA. I am confident that these changes will lead to overall improvements to our club. Club Racing January 2014 There will also be an additional bonus race for all Regional only classes at each of these events. More information on the new MidAm Championship Series can be found in the issue of the exhaust notes, and more information on the Majors Series can be found on the SCCA Website. Also, please keep up to date on the GCR with current revisions available on the SCCA Website as well. Solo Solo is changing as well. 2014 will see the final year of Stock as we know it, and the inaugural year for the new Street Classes. For NRSCCA, we will be embracing the new Street Classes and will be combining the old Stock (SR) classes into a Pax class. This class will be designated SR. Also in 2014 NRSCCA will discontinue the RTA, RTR and RTF Pax classes. RTP (road tire prepared), Ladies Pax, and Pro Pax will all continue as NRSCCA classes. There are no more of the old Rational, National or Regional designated races. There are also no longer National or Regional Drivers Licenses. The only club races being held this year in MiDiv will either be Majors Races which are only open to runoffs classes and Divisional Races which are open to all SCCA and MiDiv Classes. Licenses will also only be issued in two levels - Novice and Full Competition. There will be two racing series open to MiDiv Racers this year: Central Conference Majors Series and the MidAm Championship Series. Both of these series will offer great competition across the division and for Runoffs eligible classes, both offer drivers a route to the runoffs. In Nebraska Regional, we will be hosting two MidAm Championship Series Races. One will be held at Mid America Motorplex over July 4th weekend, and the other will be held at Motorsport Park Hastings on July 28th and 29th. Both of these events will provide a great opportunity for racers from MiDiv to race on two great road courses and earn points for the MidAm series. In order to compete in 2014 events, vehicles will need to have the proper designation of either the Open class or the NRSCCA PAX class on the side. Please make sure to read the rules for 2014 and specifically for drivers in the new Street Classes, please make sure you know what your cars new class is. The old stock class designation does not necessarily correspond to the new street class designation. 2014 promises to be a great year for NRSCCA in all of our activities, and it will be a busy year. I encourage all of our members to take advantage of the great schedule we have for 2014. There is something on this schedule for everyone.
