1. Memorandum and Articles of Association The Memorandum and Articles of Association are available on the Club website (flemptongolfclub.co.uk) or via the Club Manager (Clubmanager@flemptongolfclub.co.uk ) 2. Candidates for Membership Every candidate for membership of the Club shall be proposed by one (the Sponsor) and seconded by another member of the Club The Club Manager and/or the Club Captain (or the Lady Captain for new Lady members) will endeavor to meet with and introduce the candidate to the ethos of the club. The meeting should take place before an application is considered by the Playing & Social Committee (hereafter the committee). The application for membership of every candidate should be made on the prescribed printed or online application form. A signature or email of support is required by the proposer and seconder. The application form shall be forwarded to the Club Manager, who will display the applicants name on the notice board and advise the Captain of a potential new member. Any member wishing to comment on the application or gain additional information on the applicant (data release will be in accordance with the Club s GDPR policy) can do so via the Club Manager. The application will be voted on at the next committee meeting (or it may be considered by the Captains current & vice - outside of the committee should a meeting have just been held). If two or more members of the committee vote against then the application will not progress. The Club Manager will contact the applicant and process their membership or advise the committee s decision Applications for Associate, Academy and Professional membership will be dealt with by the Club Manager and will not require the application to come before the committee 3. Entrance Fees New members elected to the Club shall pay such entrance fees as may be set by the Council. 4. Subscriptions Subscriptions are payable at the rate agreed at the Annual General Meeting of the Club. Subscriptions are paid annually in advance and in accordance with the Articles of Association. Fees may be paid by instalments over a ten-month period noting that until fees are paid,

members shall not be eligible to play in competitions nor invite guests to the Club. Failure to pay a subscription by the due date may result in the termination of membership. 5. Classes of Membership (Refer to the Membership & Entitlement Matrix) The classes of membership shall be: - Full Seven day right of use of the course. Student 18-23 years in full time training - University, Apprenticeship etc. Seven day right of use of the course. Junior (Under 18 years) Seven day right of use of the course. Country Members who have no principle place of residence within 30 miles (straight line) of the Club. Seven day right of use of the course. 2 nd Club Membership of the home club must be retained. An Away handicap will be maintained at Flempton G C. Seven day right of use of the course. Non-playing Use of clubhouse facilities. May also play up to six times in any calendar year upon payment of a green fee at the guest rate and must sign the Visitors book. Further visits are at full green fee rate. A nonplaying member does not have the right to introduce a guest to play golf at a reduced rate. If a guest is invited, they must pay the appropriate green fee. By Invitation (Now closed) Associate Member May play according to the agreement made with Club Manager. Academy Member Open to beginners being coached by the Club Professional. Membership duration one year. Play on course during twilight hours or anytime with a mentor/coach. Use of practice facilities after 1pm. Leads to full membership application Military Member Seven day right of use of the course. 6. Management Council The Management Council is the governing body of the club with the Club Manager being the Chief Operating Officer and the singular point of contact for all internal & external communication(s). Membership of the Council is by election at the AGM with the process being defined under the clubs articles of association.

Club Captain The Club Captain is the figurehead of the Club with responsibility for the playing of golf (handicaps, competitions, fixtures, course set up for competitions, county teams) and all social aspects & events at the Club. Appointment of the Captain & Vice Captain is by election at the AGM with the process being defined under the clubs articles of association. 8. Playing & Social Committee (formerly known as the Captain s Committee) The Playing & Social Committee is convened, by each Captain, to assist in the administration of the Captain s duties. Members of the Committee are either nominated and elected at the AGM or co-opted by the Captain until the next AGM. Members will normally serve for a period of three years. The exact make- up of the Committee is determined by each Captain. 9. Visitors and Guests. Subject to any restrictions, which may from time to time be imposed by the Council the following persons shall be entitled to admission to the Club premises and shall for all purposes be regarded as guests of the Club and its members: Guests of members who have been invited to the Club for a meal or a drink. Players from visiting clubs or societies together with official supporters taking part in a match or tournament not paying a green fee. Any visitor/guest paying a green fee must pay their green fee, produce a valid handicap certificate and sign the visitor s book before playing. Any playing member may introduce up to three guests subject to limitations that may be agreed by the Council. The guest(s) shall enjoy the full facilities of the Club for the period nominated, subject to conforming to the Club rules. Visitors may only play after 11am unless dispensation is granted by the Club Manager. Permission to play the course is at the discretion of the Club Manager or such person as may be delegated by them. Payment of a green fee shall entitle the visitor to enjoy all the privileges of the Club and course subject to conforming to the Club rules. 10. Dress Whilst playing on the course (this shall encompass the course, the practice ground, the practice nets and the putting green) the following are acceptable: All specifically manufactured golf clothing noting that shirts should have a collar and

should be tucked in unless otherwise designed. Golf socks must be worn. Golf shoes must be worn. Denim, stone washed, tracksuits and rugby/football tops are not permitted. In the clubhouse (this shall encompass the clubhouse, the car park, the front terrace and grass areas surrounding the clubhouse) the dress code is smart casual unless a specific dress code is required for an event/match. It is not acceptable to wear any form of headgear within the bar, dining or internal seating areas unless dispensation is granted by the Club Manager. Within the Clubhouse it is acceptable to wear clean spike-less golf shoes in order to access the bar and the PSI terminal. However, please remove headgear and avoid bringing in wet/dirty clothing and golf equipment 11. Clubhouse The clubhouse shall be open in accordance with the times decided by the Council, and as displayed on the notice board, noting that it is closed on Christmas Day. The Bar will open only at lunchtime on Boxing Day, with no catering available. Catering should be arranged with the Club Steward. No member, guest or visitor shall bring food or drink for consumption in the clubhouse, except by prior consent of the Club Manager. For safety and hygiene reasons, members are prohibited from entering the kitchen area. Members shall pay for every expense they incur at the Club, whether for themselves or their guests, before leaving. Smoking is not permitted other than in the designated outside areas to each side of the clubhouse (but not adjacent to the entrance/window of either locker room). Smoking is not permitted in front of the Clubhouse. 12. Bar The following persons may purchase or be supplied with alcohol from the bar for consumption on the premises: Members of the Club. Those persons defined in rule 8 (Visitors and Guests). Temporary Members of the Club who have completed a green fee docket Members of another golf club attending the Club s premises for the purpose of

taking part in a match or tournament to include officials or supporters of such a club. Guests of members who have signed the Visitors book. The hours of sale of alcohol in the clubhouse shall be as agreed by the Council and will be displayed on the notice board. Such hours will be in agreement with the licensing laws. Only persons aged over 18 years may purchase or consume alcohol. Bottles and/or glasses of alcohol shall not be taken onto or consumed on the course. 13. Rules of Golf The rules of Golf shall be those of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club with such Local Rules as may be decided by the Playing & Social Committee and printed on the scorecard or posted on the notice board from time to time. 14. Competition Rules The Competition Rules book defines the rules for each competition as set by the committee. 15. Handicaps Members should familiarise themselves with The CONGU Handicapping System (or WHS from 2020). The appropriate booklet is available on the notice board. Details of scores returned at this Club or any other club which may result in an adjustment to their handicap must be notified to the Handicap Secretary as soon as is reasonably possible. From 1 st January 2020 all members shall enter their own completion/qualifying score using the PSI terminal located in the main club entrance. 16. Insurance The Club accepts no responsibility for members, guests or visitors belongings whether in lockers, changing rooms or any part of the Club premises. Members must have their own insurance cover for any damage they might do to property or person, or for any incident they may be involved in whilst on Club premises. Any player hitting a ball on to the road bordering the 6 th hole should report the incident as soon as possible to the Club Manager. 17. The Club Flag

The purpose of the Flag being flown is to indicate that a special golfing event is imminent or actually in progress and those playing in it must be given priority. The flag is not flown on any other occasion unless authorised by the Captain or Club Manager. The flag is flown at half-mast only on the death of a former Officer of the Club or a current Club member, for a period of 7 days from notification. This will have precedence over any other occasion when it might have been flown. 18. Complaints and Suggestions In no instance shall a member of staff be reprimanded by a member. Constructive suggestions for the general improvements to the administration of the Club s affairs, the clubhouse or course shall be put in writing to the Club Manager or entered in the suggestions book provided. The Council or Committee, shall consider such suggestions. Any complaints must be made in writing to the Club Manager (clubmanager@flemptongolfclub.co.uk) 19. Mobile Telephones The use of mobile telephones, for making or receiving telephone calls on the course or in the clubhouse is forbidden unless in the case of an emergency. Within the clubhouse the use of phones for any form of non-verbal communication is permitted noting that any audible input/output should set to silent mode. 20. Care of the Course In addition to the accepted R & A Rules of Golf, the following apply: Bunker rakes should be placed just inside the bunker with the end of the handle resting on the bunker lip, and in a position as to not interfere with play. Trolleys should not be taken beyond the dotted white lines guarding the apron of the greens or on or across tees. Chipping to the practice putting green from up to five metres is allowed. Practice chipping or putting on any of the greens on the course is not permitted. Players starting a round must alternate with matches in progress. Players are required to repair pitch marks or any damage caused, by their play, to the greens Players leaving the 9 th green should invite following matches to play their tee shots

before taking position on the next tee. If players on the 9 th hole have crossed the road they shall have priority. Players in official Club matches or Club competitions have priority on the course. At no time should any playing group consist of more than four balls in play. Visitors shall use the yellow tees unless dispensation has been granted by the Club Manager Visitors shall only be permitted to start from the 1 st Tee unless dispensation has been granted by the Club Manager The use of the course is restricted to the playing of golf unless express permission is given by the Club Manager The Club Manager can take such action as is necessary to preserve and protect the condition of the course. Where appropriate a notice will be displayed on the notice board 21. Duty of Care All members shall exhibit a Duty of care to their fellow members encompassing curtesy, reasonable and safe play, language and general conduct. Members in breach of Club Rules may face disciplinary action. Members must consider their actions when Junior members are on the course or in the clubhouse. 22. Animals Members shall be permitted to take their dogs onto the course during social play during twilight hours (1pm winter and 4pm summertime). All pets must be on a lead, AT ALL TIMES, with any fouling being collected, and removed from the club grounds, by the member. 23. Social Media Members shall not make derogatory remarks and/or post inappropriate images about FGC or other Club Members and/or visitors on any publication and/or media website.
