State AAU 8 th Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday, March 17 th, 2018 SITE LOCATIONS: Miller Middle School -125 S 11 th St; Community Y - 108 Washington St; Marshalltown Coliseum - 20 W State St; Marshalltown High School (MHS) - 1602 S 2nd Ave Marshalltown Community College (MCC) - 3700 S Center St Gyms will open at 7:15. Coaches meetings at 7:45 at each gym. FORMAT: All pool play AND power pool play matches 2 games to 21, 23 cap. Playoff - 2 games to 21, 23 cap; 3rd game to 15, 17 cap After AM pool play, ALL teams will go into power pools. 4 th place teams go to copper power pools at MHS or Coliseum. 3 rd place teams go to Miller for Bronze power pools. 2 nd place teams go to MCC for Silver power pools. 1 st place teams go to the Y for Gold power pools and playoff. *** Power pool times are approximate. After morning pools, PLEASE GO STRAIGHT TO POWER POOL LOCATION! We WILL start power pools as soon as teams are there. Warm-Up: 2-2-1 warm-up first time you play (shared net). No middle hitting! After that 3 (1-1-1) minutes! First team listed serves 1 st in game one, other team has choice of side. IF games are running behind, we will go with no warm-up! Tiebreakers: If there is a tie for teams moving on to Gold Power pools or Gold playoff, there will be a one game to 15 playoff, 17 cap. Otherwise: 1) head to head pts 2) overall pt diff. 3) coin flip Play Offs: Gold power pools: top two teams from each pool qualify for the championship playoffs. Medals for the top four teams in the Gold Playoffs. Fourth place teams from each Gold Power Pool ref the first round of playoffs. There will be no Copper playoff. You re done once power pools are over with. No medals for the winners of the Silver, Bronze, & Copper playoffs. AAU rules require the up ref be an adult - please abide by this rule. Please supply your own warm-up balls & whistles. Please have an adult at the score table, if possible. All sites will have concession stands - NO COOLERS!! This rule will be strictly enforced. PLEASE clean up after yourself. No ball handling in the hallways! Children should be supervised at all times. There will be an admission charge of $5 for adults & $3 for K-12 th grade.
