New Class for 2018 For 2018, we have introduced a new novice driving class. As a group, we want to encourage driving in the shetland world. We feel it is a lovely activity for both pony and driver, and a beautiful spectator sport. We hope that it will inspire more of our members to try it out. Class details and rules This novice class is intended for those starting out in driving and does not apply to those who have previously competed and won in British Driving Society (BDS) affiliated classes. In this class, only 15% of marks are awarded on carriage and harness which opens the sport up to a wider variety of entrants. However no show or trade vehicles are allowed. Children under 14 years may drive but must wear hard hats. This class encourages new drivers, junior drivers and grooms, who are unable to compete at BDS level, to take the reins. 11
New sponsors for 2018 Thank you to all those people who have kindly sponsored us again this year. Your continued support is helping our group to flourish. All of us from the SSPG are delighted to welcome the Holder Show Team and Team Sylvandene as new sponsors for 2018. The SSPG would like to take this opportunity to thank Belinda and Sian of Team Sylvandene for kindly sponsoring our Standard Championship this year. 12
We look forward to a great year with the Holder Show Team.
