BITING THE BIG APPLE: The Dodgers tonight continue their sevenday, six-game road trip (2-2) with the middle contest of a three-game series vs. the Mets. Following this series, the Dodgers return home next week for a season-high tying 10-game homestand against the Cubs (four games), Rockies (3) and Pirates (3). LOS ANGELES DODGERS (39-35) at New York Mets (31-42) LHP Clayton Kershaw (1-4, 2.76) vs. RHP Jacob degrom (5-2, 1.51) Saturday, June 23, 2018 7:15 p.m. ET Citi Field Queens, NY Game 75 Road Game 36 (19-16) Night Game 53 (27-25) TV: FOX Radio: AM 570 (English); KTNQ 1020 AM (Spanish) Los Angeles has won 23 of its last 32 games since May 17 and are 13-5 in the month of June, putting the club alone in second place in the NL West, 2.5 games behind the first-place D- backs. The Dodgers.722 winning percentage this month is currently the best in the National League. The Dodgers are 24-10 (.706) against the Mets since the start of the 2013 season and have now won 10 consecutive games vs. New York, including a three-game sweep at Citi Field last August. During that 10-game run, Los Angeles has outscored the Mets 75-20 while averaging 7.5 runs per game and hitting.278 (97-for-349). In that time, Dodger pitchers have limited New York hitters to a.170 average (54-for-318). The Dodgers have beaten the Mets by three runs or more eight consecutive times and according to STATS, LLC, that s the first time in franchise history the Dodgers have done that to anyone. The Dodgers dropped to 10 games under.500 on May 16 with a loss to the Marlins. Since then they have gone 23-9 and have one of the best pre-all-star game records in recent years for a team that has fallen that far below.500: Best Pre All-Star Break Record After Getting to 10+ Games Under.500 Since 2000 2016 Houston Astros 48-41 (.539) 2009 Colorado Rockies 47-41 (.534) 2018 Los Angeles Dodgers 39-35 (.527) 2003 Florida Marlins 49-46 (.516) SOURCE: STATS, LLC HE S BAAAAAAAACK: The Dodgers tonight will send All-Star lefthander Clayton Kershaw to the mound for the first time since May 31. On that day, he was reinstated from the disabled list after a bout with biceps tendonitis, but would last just 5.0 innings after being removed from the contest with a lower back strain. The three-time Cy Young Award winner has made just one start since May 2. Kershaw will make his ninth start of the season tonight and on the year he is 1-4 with a 2.76 ERA (15 ER/49.0 IP) while striking out 53 against just 11 walks. In 12 career starts against the Mets, Kershaw is 8-0 with a 1.84 ERA (17 ER/83.1 IP) and the Dodgers are 11-1 in those contests. He has held Mets hitters to.187 average, while striking out 94 against just 23 walks. At Citi Field, Kershaw is 3-0 with a 1.31 ERA (5 ER/34.1 IP) in five starts (2009-16). He also won Game 4 of the 2015 NLDS at Citi Field, allowing just one run in 7.0 innings with the Dodgers facing elimination. June 23 is the latest date Kershaw has stood with just one win on the season since his rookie season in 2008, when he was selected to the roster on May 25 and didn t earn his second victory until Aug. 7, 2008. In order to make room on the active roster for Kershaw, the Dodgers optioned left-handed reliever Adam Liberatore to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The Dodger rotation ranks fourth in the National League in ERA (3.49) and fifth in strikeouts (406), while ranking second in WHIP (1.17) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.63). WHAT A RUN: On this date in 1996, Dodger Hall of Fame Manager Tommy Lasorda skippered his final game before retiring from the big chair. Lasorda was able to celebrate from the dugout one last time in Dodger blue as Mike Piazza belted a walk-off homer in the ninth inning to give L.A. a 4-3 victory. Los Angeles leads the Major Leagues with 37 home runs in June and have slugged 93 home runs overall this season, which ranks fourth in the NL. The club s.421 slugging percentage ranks third in the league, while its.742 OPS ranks fourth on the Senior Circuit. In addition to leading the league in home runs in June, L.A. also leads the NL in extra-base hits (77 tied with the Rockies), slugging percentage (.511) and OPS (.852) this month.
