Kudos to Bill Lindewirth and to Dave Brown and many others who have pitched in to help maintain our field. some nice money for the club. Thanks to Greg and Mark for the cooking help. Dave accomplished the trenching to redo the electricity for the most easterly benches and reinstalled the fan blades in the pavilion and repaired the runway. Bill worked tirelessly to run the electric and also to provide and install replacement wood to refurbish those benches. If that was not enough, Bill also reseeded the grass around the benches and provided a straw base. He has been spraying the drive area to eliminate weeds. Whew, give a whole hearted thanks to both and their helpers for their proactive support of our field. We have a new lake at our Field on the NW end of our runway, we have Spirits lake, or maybe we should call it pond, but in any case, it has recently been the venue for Dave Brown s electric Boat. His little boat really scoots and throws up a beautiful rooster tail, turns on a dime, self recovers when turning turtle, and has put plenty of smiles on Dave s face. We had our first race of the season on June 27th. We had perfect weather and nine pilots signed up to participate in the races. We had three electric warbirds, three in fly what you brung, and 7 competed with the Four star 40 s. Some competed in all categories. We had no crashes, no midairs, and plenty of good fun. We would still like to see a stronger turn out for our events. Pilots had to double up as helpers in some cases, so we can always use more people to help at these fun events. We had a drawing for prizes ( a free raffle ) and goodies were handed out. Mark Livesay was cooking up some very good grub and Photo by Carolyn Schlueter Dave brown s hot rod boat in Spirits lake Lets keep up the participation. Its good to see you at the field.
