Recovery Methods You Should Absolutely Use Lightly ride a bike (upright or recumbent) for 10-15 minutes post exercise to help decrease lactic acid build up in your legs after a hard leg workout. Have a massage post exercise to reduce inflammation and increase flexibility. Use a foam roller or a massage stick to accomplish a self-massage. Eat the perfect balance of protein and carbs exactly one hour after exercising to boost muscle regeneration. Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night to help your body reboot and be ready for tomorrow. Recovery Methods You Can TRY Dynamic Stretching is best performed to prepare your muscles for exercise and static stretching can be used post exercise to help your muscles recover.
