Nunawading and District Horse and Pony club Rallyround Volume 19, Issue 3 Page 2 PRESIDENT S REPORT James Fitzpatrick April Rally is coming around quickly with the Easter Break and school holidays upon us. The two twilight showjumping nights were a great success with a great environment to practice some competition skills in a very friendly atmosphere. We'll have to do it again next year in Feb-March and the three clubs were really happy with the nights. Our games team is training hard and looking forward to the Zone Qualifiers on 22 April. Good luck girls and have fun. The committee had a meeting and have a suggested structure that will be tabled to members at lunch-time at the April Rally. We have a number of new parents helping and a good band of experienced members staying on to assist. I am sure you will be happy with the proposed committee and all looks good. The 20th May is the NMZ Teams Horse Trials - riders need to register interest with Bron at the April Rally. There's also an NMZ Pre 5 and inexperienced Grade 5 clinic on 28 and 29 April. Start preparing for the Nunawading Showjumping and Dressage Day on 27 May 2012 - keep the day free and get your entries in early as it was very busy last year. The Entry Form is on the website at www.nhpc.ponyclubvic.org.au We also need parent helpers so we will come around with the usual list and you can nominate how you can help. Look forward to seeing you all on 15th April at the rally. Regards,. JUNIOR COMMITTEE NEWS - SCARLETT HOWARD Hi everyone! Finally we have a date for our movie night! It will be on Friday the 4th of May. Put the date in your diaries! It will be a $5.00 donation to come along which will go to buying dinner & snacks for the night and the extra will be put towards the club. The first movie we will be watching will be The Long Shot, a movie about dressage. The movie has some very nice dressage horses and high level dressage moves in it: the stuff you don t get to see at pony club. The other movie hasn t been chosen yet. So get ready for another great night, bring along blankets & pillows! Remember, anyone wanting to help out with any of the Junior Committee s plans for the year is more than welcome! See you at pony club!

Nunawading and Monash Twilight Show Jumping Night! Our two Twilight Show jumping events were lots of fun. It was great to combine Nunawading with Monash PC and lots of money was raised for vital equipment that will benefit both clubs. Thank you to all the organisers, helpers and members that competed. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to further events later in the year when daylight hours are once again extended.

Nunawading Games Team 2012 It all began at our November rally when Pat Dyson came and gave a demonstration of the different games that are part of the games competition. The best part of that day was watching all of you girls practicing your vaulting onto your horses. I am sure that all the parents had a good laugh whilst all of you girls were nursing very sore and stiff muscles the next day. From that we gained an interest in creating a games team. Over Jan, Feb, March and concluding in April we had a group of girls who spent time on a number of Saturdays practicing their skills in learning how to work as a team. Over the sessions we have had Jade - Taye Kirra - Bridget Rachel Monty Emily Rocky Abby Summer Alex Sam Ella Rupert Bear Entertain us with Bending and Baton relay, Two flag race, Stepping stones, Tyre Race, Flag and Drum, Mug race events. We have seen an improvement in the girls from their very first training session and this year s competition on April 22 nd will be to gain the girls some experience and have LOTS of FUN. A BIG THANKYOU to Bronwyn for the training sessions and to Pat Dyson who came to our session on the 24 th to give the girls some pointers. Also to the parents who came and supported and helped set up and pack up; and in particular on the day that we PUSHED the tractor from the front of the clubrooms to the shed in the pouring rain. We wish the girls well and hope to have possibly a couple of teams next year. From Kerrie Hobbs

Hope to see you all there Date: Friday 4 th May Venue: Drummies Bridge Reserve Start Time: 5.30pm Cost: $5.00 per family Movies: The Long Shot & Unknown (We haven t decided on the second movie.
