news & events Grant McClintock Book Signing Saturday, December 11 (all day) 4th Annual Christmas Party Saturday, December 18th. Swing by the shop all day on Saturday the 18th to knock out some Christmas shopping, enjoy an adult beverage and some tamales! Pebble Mine Presentation Thursday, January 6th (6:30PM) With Special Guests... Scott Hed, Director Sportsman s Alliance for Alaska Come learn about one of the biggest environmental threats facing our country today. The Bristol Bay region of Alaska is one of America s greatest wildernesses. Unfortunately, the area is faced with becoming victim to a very controversial copper and gold open pit mining district at the hands of the multinational mining company, Northern Dynasty. It is hard to imagine a greater environmental catastrophe... huge open pits, toxic tailing ponds, and some of the largest earthen dams on the planet. We are proud to host Scott and all learn a lesson on the Pebble Mine controversy and how we can help. Swing by the shop this Saturday and pick up an autographed copy of Grant McClintock s new highly acclaimed book, FLYWATER. Grant s latest project features beautiful images of everyone s favourite Rocky Mountain trout streams. Also on hand will be lodge owner, Jerry Shults, and head guide, Dan Herrig, from Rapids Camp Lodge out of King Salmon. In addition to our most popular fly-out lodge in SW Alaska, Rapids Camp is a huge supporter of the anti-pebble Mine movement. This event is also an opportunity to learn about one of the best lodges in Alaska! This coffee table book should adorn any fly fisher s library, and makes for a wonderful Christmas present. Grant will be at the shop all day on Saturday. Come meet a legend in outdoor photography and knock out some of your Christmas shopping list. 8 BLOG: www.somethinsfishy.com call us: (888) 824-5420 9

travel HOSTED TRIP SCHEDULE Louisiana Redfish (Winter Trip) Woodland Plantation February 10-13, 2011 We are once again taking a group of ten anglers back to the Plantation for a long weekend targeting BIG bull reds with our roster of the best guides on the West Bank. Join us for incredible food and hospitality at the charming Woodland Plantation and enjoy perhaps the best redfish fishing in the world. 3 Nights / 3 Days Fishing: $1550 Per Person (private room / shared guide) SCHEDULE Rapids Camp Lodge - Alaska July 29 - August 5, 2011 This is an opportunity to visit one of our favorite Alaskan fly-out lodges located in Katmai National Park on the Naknek River. Rapids Camp Lodge uses four (4) airplanes for only 16-20 guests per week. Their best plane : guest ratio in Alaska allows guests to enjoy the use of a private Beaver or Otter all week. The trip is planned to coincide with what is typically the most pleasant weather conditions of the season and the longest days of the year. The first week of August offers the most species diversity available in the region keeping anglers of all skill levels and preferences happy. It is prime time for small mountain stream rainbow trout fishing, the peak of the silver salmon run. There are still tons of chum and pink salmon around as well as opportunities for huge char and dollies. RCL is also the only tried and true fly out operation to also offer a complete saltwater program for halibut, ling cod, rockfish, and salmon. The trips in their turbine Otter to Geographic Harbor are a must for those looking to witness the most gorgeous place in Alaska, see whales, orcas, and other marine life and take home a box of fresh fish. Early August is the best part of the season to enjoy everything Alaska. In addition to the ultimate Alaskan fishing experience, Rapids Camp has comfortable accommodations, incredible food, and an all star staff of guides. This is a great trip for the family, couples, or just the hard core angler. 7 Nights / 6 Days Fishing: $7895 Per Person (shared room/guide) *** Includes Airfare to/from Anchorage and King Salmon! 16 spots remaining Louisiana Redfish (Summer Trip) Woodland Plantation August 11-14, 2011 The summer fishing on the marshes of Louisiana should not be overlooked! This is a great opportunity to take advantage of calmer winds and lots of tailing reds in the 5-15 pound range. Yes, it is a bit warm, but the days are longer and the fishing is very predictable. Summer fishing is a numbers game and odds are you may run into schools of hard fighting jack crevalle and behemoth sized black drum. 3 Nights / 3 Days Fishing: $1550 Per Person (private room / shared guide) 9 Spots Remaining 32 BLOG: www.somethinsfishy.com call us: (888) 824-5420 33
