The Gary Player Golf Course The Gary Player Golf Course designed by none other than the legendary Gary Player, is an 18-hole par-72 walking-only championship course that is regularly ranked as one of the leading golf courses in South Africa. Built in an extinct volcanic crater, this immaculate golfing paradise conforms to the stringent US PGA specifications and was recently named South Africas Best Golf Course in the World Golf Awards 2015. Gary Player Golf Course Website The Lost City Golf Course The Lost City Golf Course with undulating and rocky terrain offers a 72-par, 18-hole desert-style course that is surrounded by spectacular views across the bushveld. Approximately a three-hour drive north of Johannesburg, this 22 000 hectare (54 000 acre) malaria-free reserve boasts five eco-systems. This Big 5 reserve is complemented by five different lodges, each comprising a unique blend of luxury and African wilderness, perfectly set in different immaculate locations of the reserve. The upper escarpment offers majestic craggy rock formations and wide-open grass plains. This is separated from the lower plateau by 600 m (2 000 ft) high cliffs. The lower escarpment is approximately three degrees warmer and comprises of sandveld vegetation and a series of wetlands. Legend Golf & Safari Resort - Signature Championship Course The unique world-in-one Signature Championship Course has each of its 18 holes designed by a different world golfing legend. It is the longest golf course in South Africa, providing all golfers, irrespective of their handicap, the experience of a true African Challenge. In addition, you can take the challenge of the world famous Par 3, the Extreme 19th. It is the world s longest and highest Par 3, providing every golfer with an unforgettable golfing experience. Accessible only by helicopter, the tee is situated atop Hanglip Mountain with a 361 metre (395 yd) shot to the green, located 400 breath-taking metres (1 300 ft) below the tee. In addition, visitors can play The Tribute Course. This ten-hole Par-3 course, has each of its holes modelled on the best and most famous Par-3 holes in the world. It is designed to be played in approximately 2 hours and takes you on a journey around the best holes in the world, providing a stunning additional golf experience to the Championship 18-hole Signature Course. The Greater Kruger The Kruger National Park is the second oldest National Park in the world and arguably the best-known of Africa s great wildlife sanctuaries. At 6 million acres (2,5 million ha), the Park is one of the largest in the world and has the greatest diversity of fauna and flora of any African park. A leader in environmental management, the Kruger National Park offers visitors fantastic Big Five sightings, as well as viewing of endangered game such as the African wild dog and birdwatching of over 507 bird species. That said, hazards at Leopards Creek certainly take on a new meaning with sightings of crocodile, hippo, antelope, buffalo and elephant being all too common. A dream for the safari enthusiast! Leopard Creek is another of the Gary Player designed courses and the old master chose to go with a parklands layout measuring in at 6 665 m (7 289 yd). Gary Player is especially proud of the par-five 18th with its island green and the par-four 9th with its peninsula green jutting out of the same body of water. The 505 m (552 yd) par-five 13th is one of Leopard Creek s most memorable holes. Here the green is right on the edge of the Crocodile River but 32 m (105 ft) above the level of the water, offering magnificent views up the river. The elegant clubhouse is sited on the bank of the Crocodile River. The lounge leads on to a covered patio watch play on the 9th and 18th greens or enjoy a leisurely cocktail and a superb view of the animals in the Kruger National Park. A second terrace leading out from a fully equipped bar offers spectacular sunset vistas over the river. An extensive, professional kitchen serves full meals.
