Pearl, NL Pool consists of eight 25 meter lanes, plus two 25 meter warm up and cool down lanes available throughout the competition. Timers and volunteers are asked to wear white shirts and black pants, Level two and above officials are required to wear red shirts and black pants.
Entries Entries MUST be submitted using the SNC online entry procedures at https://www.swimming.ca/meetlist.aspx no later than Sunday January 31st by 6:00pm. All late team entries submitted after the entry deadline will incur a $100.00 penalty WITH NO EXCEPTIONS (payable to SNL). Completed entries must NOT be converted. Meet Management will complete conversion from LC to SC. Completed relay team entries including names are a must. Relay cards will be distributed at the coaches meeting. Relay cards MUST be submitted by the end of the morning session prior to the relays. Relay name changes only, not entries, will be accepted 1 2 hour prior to the start of the session. Relay names will not be printed in any public documents to ensure the coaches right to change the relay swimmers names up until that time. Attention should be given to the entry guidelines and the meet format in this document. Inaccurate entries will be returned to the coach. Ensure athletes are in the correct age group for this meet and SNC registration number is included. Meet Manager will acknowledge team entries with a meet entry report by midnight Monday Feb 1 st. Entry Fees Championship entry fees are set by SNL are $62.00 per swimmer, which includes the $7.00 levy for the provincial electronic timing system and $5.00 to the swimmer development fund. Scratches and changes will be accepted until 6:00pm Sunday Feb 7th. After this time no refunds will be issued. New additions will be accepted no later than this date and will incur a $100.00 penalty (payable to SNL). Entry fees must be received by the Meet Manager prior to the start of the first warm-up session. Meet Management reserves the right to refuse deck access to a club for non-payment of entry fees. Cheques shall be made payable to Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador. Eligibility Swimmers must be registered with SNC or a FINA affiliate by the meet entry deadline and must have met the qualifying standards required to compete in this Championship Meet.
As per SNL Policy, All swimmers registered with Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador must have competed in at least two invitational meets, sanctioned by SNL, during this season. All swimmers must have at least one (1) qualifying championship time standard and must swim a minimum of one (1) qualifying event. NOTE: Swimmers are NOT required to have achieved their qualifying championship time(s) in the current season but must be qualified for their current age group. Time standards are available at www.swimnl.nfld.net Age Groups Championship age groups will be: 12 & under 13-14 15 & over A swimmers age is determined as of the first day of the meet. Entry Limitations Swimmers with only 1 QT are permitted to enter 4 swim events plus relays. Swimmers with 2 or more QT s are permitted to enter 6 swim events plus relays. The Schedule of Events and Warmup times are included in Appendix A. All relay swimmers must be entered in individual events. The age of the oldest swimmer shall determine the age group of the relay. Swimmers shall only swim one (1) relay per session. Rules SNC rules will govern the meet. Exhibition swims WILL NOT be permitted. General Meet Format The 800 and 1500 Free will be mixed heats by seed time regardless of gender and age group and will run fast to slow. Meet Management reserves the right to combine events, heats, and the doubling of lanes. All swimmers swimming the 800 and/or
1500 Free MUST have met the qualifying standard in one of 800 or 1500. Proof of qualifying swims must be available through the swimming.ca database. The fastest heat of the 800 and 1500 Free regardless of age group or gender will be swum as the first event during the finals session. There will be a 10 minute warm up prior to the 800 and 1500 in the morning sessions. All relays will be swum as timed final events and will be seeded by age group if timing allows. Scoring will be done by age group per gender. All qualifying times must have been achieved at an SNL/SNC sanctioned event. Preliminary Heats will have the last three heats circle seeded by entry time and not by age group. Events will be seeded slow to fast, except as noted otherwise. Time Final Events will be open seeded by entry time but scored by age group. All events will be swum as preliminaries and finals with the exception of the 800/1500 Free and Relays. There will be (A) Finals for each age group/gender. There will be (B) Finals for the 15 and over age group only, and only in those events with 14 or more entries. All events will be scored by age group. SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET. There will be an open warm-up at the scheduled time in the meet package. (Appendix A) The pool consists of an eight lane main pool and two lane leisure pool. Warm up will be an open session for all teams with dive/sprint lanes designated during second half. Warmup will finish 5 minutes before the session starts and all swimmers shall clear the pool. The two lanes of the leisure pool shall be for use by the younger swimmers or swimmers who are not comfortable in the main pool. Note - The Safety Marshall will be monitoring the activity in the pool, but we will expect the coaches and swimmers to respect the rules established. During each competition session, the 2 lane leisure pool will be for swimmer warmup/cool down only - all ages. The pool will be made available for cool down for 15 minutes at the end of each session.
Coaches All coaches must be in good standing with SNC, the NLSCA and the CSCA in order to coach at any sanctioned competition. SNL policy requires that all coaches be certified at SWIM101 or equivalent qualification to receive deck access for this competition. Coaches Meeting Date: Friday, February 12, 2016 Time: 7:30 am Place: Multi-Purpose Room on Second Floor Scratches All events will be pre-seeded. Coaches may pick up their meet information package, upon receipt of entry fees from the Meet Manager at the coaches meeting. The Meet Referee will be available at that time. Coaches must complete scratches in writing on provided scratch forms or by email to meet manager. Preliminaries: Scratches will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the preliminary session. Finals: Scratch deadline will be 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preliminary session. Failure by a swimmer to scratch from a final by this time shall result in the swimmer being scratched from all remaining events, including relays, that day (CSW 3.6.3). Scoring Individual Scoring: 5 2 1 Team Scoring: 50 30 20 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 5 3 2 1 Relay Scoring: 50 30 20 15 14 13 12 11 **Only one (1) relay team per event will score for each club Swimmers who fail to make the Championship Qualifying Standard in an event will not score but will receive placing awards.
Awards Individual Event Awards: Medals for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place Ribbons for 4 th to 8 th place Relay Event Awards: Ribbons for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place Top Achiever Awards: Top Achiever Awards will be given to individual high point achievers in each age group, both male and female. Certificates will be awarded for 2 nd and 3 rd place. Top Team Award: Top Overall Team with the highest aggregate points Most Improved Team Award: The most improved team award will be given to the club with the highest average points per splash improvement from SC Champs 2015 to SC Champs 2016. Most Spirited Team Award: The most spirited team award will go to the team that best exemplifies the meaning of team spirit throughout the meet. Teams are encouraged to go the extra mile making sure their team gets noticed for their team spirit on the pool deck. Judging will be done during the final session of the meet by the SNL Director, and two designates. Swimmers and teams can demonstrate their team spirit in many ways. bringing a team banner wearing team colors creating a team cheer encouraging all of your teammates exhibiting sportsmanship being excited about swimming demonstrating a positive disposition There's nothing greater in the world than when somebody on the team does something good, and everybody gathers around to pat him or her on the back.
Deck Access Access to the pool deck will be restricted to swimmers, coaches and session officials. Unplanned Cancellation If due to circumstances beyond our control the facility is unavailable coaches will be notified by email. Coaches, Swimmers and Parents are advised to follow Swim NL on facebook and twitter for all the latest updates. Meet Evaluation Teams are required to complete the attached meet evaluation form in Appendix B and return to SNL within 10 days of the competition.
