Santa Paula $200 Hunter Derby Payout: Money paid to the top 6 entries. 6 entries needed to fill. Prize money distributed as follows: 30%, 25%, 20%, 10%, 10%, 5% Warm Up Rounds: Class runs all day. This warm up is un-judged. You may go in as many warm up rounds as you would like. You must declare at the gate which round is your warm up round. Food: Saturday: Kentucky Derby Lunch Sunday: Sandwiches etc. Dogs: All dogs must be on a leash attached to a person Non-negotiable checks: If your check is returned for any reason, a penalty of $35 will be assessed. Ehibitors have 10 days after notification to make full payment plus penalty in certified funds, cashier s check or money order. Adds/Scratches: There is no fee for adds or scratches during the show day, but an add/scratch slip must be filled out and presented to the secretary. Refunds: Full refund of all prepaid fees if entry is scratched prior to closing date. After the closing date, the prepaid amount minus the $23 office fee will be refunded after the end of the show.

Hunter classes will be judged on performance, soundness, way of going and, when indicated, manners and suitability. Hunter classes will be run over a course of at least si fences with at least one change of direction, ecept as noted below. Under saddle classes will be shown at the walk, trot, and canter in both directions, ecept as noted below. Simple changes of lead will not be penalized in classes with fences 2 3 and lower. No oers may be used in classes with fences 2 and lower in height. No in and outs may be used in classes with fences 2 6 or lower in height. Horses/ponies will not be jogged.. EQUITATION CLASSES. Equitation classes will be judged on the rider s hands, seat, and control of the mount over fences and/or on the flat. Over fences classes will be shown over a course of not less than si fences with at least one change of direction, ecept as noted below. No oers may be used in classes with fences 2 and lower in height. No in and outs may be used in classes with fences 2 6 or lower in height. Flat classes will be shown at the walk, trot, and canter in both directions, ecept as noted below. Warm-Up Classes: Warm up classes are open to all riders on any horse or pony. Walk Trot Class: Open to juniors and adult amateurs on horses or ponies. The rider may only cross enter the over fences classes of the Cross Rail Division. Cross Rail Classes: Open to juniors and adult amateurs on horses or ponies. The rider may only cross enter into the Future Classes at the show. Future Classes: Open to juniors and adult amateurs on horses or ponies. Open to any horse/pony and rider combination that does not compete in classes over fences above 2 6 at this show. Pre Children s/adult Amateur Division: Open to junior and adult amateur riders who are not competing in classes over fences above 2 9 at the same show. Horse/pony and rider combination may not cross enter the Regular Children s/adult Amateur Divisions at the same show. Fences 2 2 3 Modified Children s/adult Amateur Division: Open to junior and adult amateur riders who are not competing in classes over fences above 3 0 in this show. Horse/pony and rider combination may not cross enter the Pre Children s/adult Amateur Divisions at the same show. Fences 2 3 2 6. Open Equitation Division: Open to juniors and adult amateur riders. Fences. 3 0. Sundance and Santa Paula Hunter Derbys: Open to all horses and riders. Horses to show no lower than the height they are showing at this show. The class will be scored on the Hunter Derby format consisting of two rounds. First Round is the classic Hunter Style Round consisting of si to eight obstacles reminiscent of those found in the hunt field, including natural post and rail, stone wall, white board fence, gate, coop, hedge, oer, brush, logs, natural foliage, banks and ditches. The top eight horses from the First Round return for the Second Round, which is the Handy Hunter Round consisting of si to eight fences reminiscent of those found in the hunt field with at least three of the following handy options: tight turns, different tracks, clever options for jump approaches, hand gallop a jump, trot a lowered obstacle not to eceed 2. Fences 2 6 for the Sundance Hunter Derby and 3 0 for the Santa Paula Hunter Derby. See above for the payout for the Santa Paula $200 Hunter Derby. MEDALS THJA Mini Medal Open to all junior and adult amateur members of the Tucson Hunter Jumper Association who are not showing over fences above 2 9 at the same show. To be shown over an equitation type course of not less than eight fences at 2 6 in height, including at least two changes of direction. No combinations. At least the top 2 riders will return for further testing (USEF Tests 1-8). Two entries are required to fill the class. THJA Children s/adult Amateur Medal Open to all junior and adult amateur members of the Tucson Hunter Jumper Association. To be shown over an equitation type course of not less than eight fences at 3 in height, including at least two changes of direction and one combination. After the over fences

phase, the top si riders (if available) will return for a group flat phase. Martingales are permitted for the over fences phase only no martingales in the flat phase. Scores from each phase shall count equally. At the judge s discretion, at least the top two riders will return for further testing (USEF Tests 1-8). Two entries are required to fill the class. THJA Flat Medal Open to all junior and adult amateur members of the Tucson Hunter Jumper Association. Entries will work collectively on the flat and will be asked to demonstrate at least two advanced flat work skills such as turn on the forehand, turn on the haunches, counter canter, leg yields, lengthening and/or collection of the stride, work without irons, and/or other tests deemed appropriate by the judge. Two entries are required to fill the class. JUMPER CLASSES: Unless otherwise specified, USEF rules will apply. Classes will be run over a course of eight to ten jumper type fences. Classes are open to all riders on any horse or pony. Entries in the Puddle Jumper Division may only cross enter the Schooling Jumper Division at the same show. Puddle Jumper Division: Fences.80 meters (,2 6 ), spreads to.85 meters (2 9 ). Schooling Jumper Division: Fences.85 meters (2 9 ), spreads to.95 meters (3 1 ). Level 1 Division: Fences.95 meters (3 1 ), spreads to 1.10 meters (3 7 ). Level 2 Division: Fences 1.00 meter (3 3 ), spreads to 1.15 meters (3 9 ). Level 3 Division: Fences 1.10 meters (3 7 ), spreads to 1.25 meters (4 1). Level 4 Division: Fences 1.15 meters (3 9 ), spreads to 1.30 meters (4 3). ATTIRE AND EQUIPMENT All riders, including those not competing, MUST wear ASTM certified protective headgear while mounted on a horse or pony anywhere on the show grounds. NO EXCEPTIONS. All Riders participating in the show are required to wear: (1) properly secured ASTM certified protective headgear and (2) hard-soled riding boots with a heel (i.e. knee length English-style boots, Jodhpur boots, or paddock boots). Half chaps are permitted, NO full chaps. Riders are encouraged to show in proper riding attire. The minimum acceptable attire is an ASTM certified helmet, a long or short sleeved collared conservatively colored shirt tucked into breeches or jodhpurs, and clean half chaps with clean polished paddock boots. Hair must be worn so the number shows at all times. English saddles are required. Hunter Classes. Clothing should be neat and conservative in color. When possible, entrants are encouraged to show in proper riding attire: boots, breeches or jodhpurs, and riding coats in addition to properly secured ASTM certified head gear. Ladies should wear a rat-catcher shirt with a choker or stock tie. Gentlemen should wear a collared shirt and tie or stock tie. Regulation snaffles, pelhams, and full bridles with cavesson nosebands are recommended. The judge may penalize an entry for unconventional types of bits, nosebands or martingales. Martingales are NOT permitted in Hunter under Saddle classes. The use of boots, wraps, and bandages are prohibited in Hunter classes. Eceptions to this rule may be made in the discretion of the management when weather and footing conditions dictate. Equitation Classes. Entries in these classes are being judged on the rider s ability rather than personal attire. Riders are encouraged to wear conservative colored riding coats, breeches or jodhpurs, boots, and must wear properly secured ASTM certified headgear. Spurs, crops or bats are optional. Regulation snaffles, pelhams, and full bridles, with cavesson nosebands are recommended. A judge, at his or her discretion, may choose to penalize a horse with non-conventional bits, nosebands, or martingales. Martingales are permitted in classes over fences and in the jumping phase of classes requiring both jumping and flat work. They are prohibited on the flat in any class or phase of a class. Boots or conservative colored bandages on horses are permitted. CONDUCT The Tucson Hunter Jumper Association prohibits any cruelty or abuse to a horse by any person at any THJA show. An act or series of acts, that in the opinion of the Show Management and/or Judge can clearly and without a doubt be defined as abuse of horses shall be penalized by disqualification from the rest of the show. The following acts are included under the words cruelty and abuse, but are not limited to those terms: ecessive use of the whip on any horse in a stall, runway, schooling area, competition ring or elsewhere on the competition grounds, before, or during a competition; rapping a horse s legs with the butt end of a riding crop or other implement; riding an ehausted horse; ecessive pressing of a tired horse; ecessive use of spurs and/or bit; or riding an obviously lame horse. The Tucson Hunter Jumper Association epects the competitors, trainers, and anyone attending a THJA show will behave in a sportsmanlike manner and follow THJA rules. Any person acting in a manner that is prejudicial to THJA or is unsportsmanlike may be asked to leave the THJA show. Acts that are prejudicial and/or unsportsmanlike include, but are not limited to: acting, inciting, or permitting another to behave in a manner deemed improper, unethical, dishonest, or intemperate; acts or remarks that are offensive and/or are made with the intent to influence or cast aspersions on the character and integrity of the judge; physical assault upon any person; cruelty to a horse; and misrepresentation of an entry or qualifications to enter a class. Entries: M OFFICE USE All Entries received after 12pm Wednesday prior to show date will charged a late fee PAYABLE TO: San MEMBER # CLASSES Horse/Pony SmM med Lg STABLING WITH TRAINER / FARM: Every entry at a competition shall constitute an agreement and affirmation that all participants (which include, without limitation, the owner, leasee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver, rider, handler and the horse) themselves, their principals, representatives, employees and agents: (1) shall be subject to the Constitution and Rules of the Associations and the local rules of the competition; (2)represent that every horse, rider, driver and handler is eligible as entered; (3) agree to be bound by the Rules of the competition, and will accept as final the decision of the Horse Show on any question arising under said rules and agree to hold the competition, their officials, directors, and employees harmless for any action taken; (4) agree that as a condition of entry they authorize the competition management to market, transfer, assign or otherwise make use of any photographs, likenesses, films, broadcasts, cablecasts, audiotapes, taken of the horse(s) and participant(s) while on the grounds, incident to or in transit between the stabling facility and the event site, in any way they see fit for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the event, without compensation to any of them, so long as the use neither jeopardizes amateur status nor endorses a specific product or service, and hereby epressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to invasion of privacy, right of publicity or to misappropriation; and (5) agree that they participate voluntarily in the competition fully aware that horse sports and the competition involve inherent dangerous risk of serious injury or death, and by participating they epressly assume any and all risk of death, and by participating they agree to indemnify and hold the competition and their officials, directors, employees and agents harmless from and against all claims including for any injury or loss suffered during or in connection with competition, whether or not such claim, injury or loss resulted, directly or indirectly, from the negligent acts or omissions of said officials, directors, employees or competition.
