Gala 2019: Have you purchased your Gala tickets yet? The Gala is the biggest fundraiser of the year for CCHS! All money raised at The Gala stays at CCHS to fund classroom grants, special awards honoring our best teachers, scholarships to graduating seniors, teacher wish list items, the Teacher Impact Fund, and so much more. New Attendance Policy: An important letter outlining a new attendance policy was emailed to all parents last Thursday. The letter and daily schedule appear at the end of the announcements for your review. Thank you for your attention to this new policy, which is effective today. Girls Lacrosse: All girls interested in playing lacrosse, tryouts are on Wednesday, February 13 th at OrthoCarolina Sportsplex, 13301 Dorman Road, Pineville. Tryouts will be held at the Sportsplex from 3:15 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. All paperwork must be completed and uploaded to Magnus. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Bier in Room 312. Ice Hockey: Any students interested in playing ice hockey should come to a meeting on Thursday, February 14 th, after school in the Cafeteria. Coffee with Kurt: Parents are invited to join CCHS Principal Kurt Telford and fellow parents for coffee on Tuesday, February 26 th from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the CCHS Library. STUDENT NEWS CCHS Sadie Hawkins Dance: The CCHS Student Council is sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins Dance! The St. Patrick s themed dance will be held in the gym on Saturday, March 16 th from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Please spread the word and encourage your friends to attend the dance! o Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance only, through the online store. Click here to purchase tickets. o Questions? See below: Q. Do I need a date? A. No! You can come with a group of friends if you want. The idea is to have fun no stress. Q. What do I wear? A. The dance is semi-formal. Girls usually wear anything from a nice dress to a fancy one. Boys usually wear a blazer or sport coat and a tie. You do not have to wear green because of the St. Patrick s Day theme. Q. What if I bring a guest from a different school? A. Guest forms are at the front desk and must be filled out and turned in to Mr. Belk by Thursday, March 14 th. Any guest from another school needs to be at least a high school freshman. COUNSELING Gene Marie Alfaro Scholarship: The St. Matthew Columbiettes will be awarding their 15th annual scholarship in memory of Gene Marie Alfaro. Any Catholic high school senior who will pursue a career in Nursing or another health care field is welcome to apply for this $1,000 scholarship. Applications must be received by Friday, April 5 th. Students interested in applying should contact Mrs. Smith, Counseling Assistant at CCSmith@charlottecatholic.com for more information and to obtain an application. Assessments for AP and Honors Classes: The following AP classes require a selection assessment to be done by the student. This assessment must be done in order for a student to be considered for the following classes. AP classes are for rising junior and senior students who meet the prerequisites. All assessments will be given in the library from 2:45 PM until 3:30 PM. AP Spanish February 13 th Rising sophomores who wish to be considered for Honors World History and meet the prerequisites must take the assessment. This assessment will also be given in the cafeteria from 2:45 PM until 3:30 PM. SPORTS NEWS Men s Tennis: There will be a brief, but important meeting for Men s Tennis immediately after school on Monday, February 11 th in Room 512. CCHS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CCHSAA Winter and Spring Sports Program: Sponsorships are available now to parents who would like to advertise a business in this upcoming publication. The Winter and Spring Sports Program will be similar to the very popular fall program and will have photos of all winter athletic teams. Also included will be the Senior Salutes page. Please see the flyer at the end of the announcements for more information on purchasing sponsorships and senior salutes.

NEWS FLASH Winter & Spring 2019 Sports Program The CCHSAA would like to announce a combined sports program for all winter and spring sports teams. The program will be similar to the very popular fall program. All teams will have full color pictures and rosters. We would like to offer all students, parents, and coaches an opportunity to pre-purchase this combined sports program. The cost for online pre-purchased programs will be $8.00 each. Along with the team pictures we will offer the very popular Senior Salutes pages.
