President s Message Dear Members, The Dog Days of summer are here. The course and greens are the healthiest that they have ever been at this time in the summer. This is a testament to the hard work and knowledge of Terry and his staff. I would like to offer them a big thanks! Our Open House went very well. We had a good turn out with about 35 prospective members attending. We have also had 10-12 phone calls from interested people who weren't able to attend but wanted to know more about 2425 our Club and what we had to offer. We were able to sign up 2 golf members and 1 social member during the Open House. We are confident that we will be getting more from this event. Everyone was very impressed with Maumelle Country Club, our staff and our friendly members. A special thank you to all of our current members that came out to support the Open House and helped us to make this a warm and friendly environment. We truly appreciate you and we couldn't do it without your help and support. We will continue working toward our goal of seeking out and signing up new members as I hope you will. If you know of any names we can call on, please feel free to call Kellie, Cimarron or myself. Remember that you will benefit with a $30 discount on your dues as a new member sponsor. Also, Congratulations Don Hudak and John Rand for sponsoring the first two new members!!! In closing, I would like to encourage everyone to come out, bring your guests and enjoy the course and summer weather. Please remember to fix your ball marks and divots. As fall approaches, we will be having more events planned. Check out the calendar so you will not be disappointed with a conflict. Your President, Royce LoBianco MGA NEWS Our September event will be a Four Man elimination scramble. It will be held Saturday, September 25 th with an 8 a.m. Shotgun start. Be sure to sign up in the Pro Shop. This is our next to the last event for the year, only the October event remains. Our golf course continues to look beautiful, when you see Terry and his staff be sure to compliment them. A friendly wave is a great token of appreciation. We are looking forward to seeing you 2275 at the next event; remember this is a great way to meet members you may not know. THANKS for your support of the MGA, Your MGA Board of Directors
Manager s Message Labor Day is here and that means that the summer is coming to a close. Make plans to join us at the End of Summer Celebration by the pool on Labor Day. There will be great food, fun and entertainment for the whole family. See the front page of the newsletter for more information. The swimming pool will close for the season on Sunday, September 12 th @ 7:00p.m. Special thanks to Wayne Reed and his staff for the job they did at the pool this year! The 2004 MCC Swingaroo Member-Guest is scheduled for October 1 st 3 rd. Invitations have been mailed out and sign-up has started. The Tournament Committee has spent long hours to ensure that this will be one of the best events yet! The field is limited to the first 36 paid teams. Use this opportunity to showcase MCC to a friend, client or potential member. Golf will be available to non-participants after tournament play, but the clubhouse will be closed to nonparticipants due to Member-Guest functions. I would personally like to thank Terry Spurlock and his staff for the great job they did in providing us with the best course conditions that this club has seen in many years. It is this reason that we have seen an increase in guest play, as well as interest in the Club by many potential new members. The NFL Football season officially starts on Thursday, September 9 th. If observance of this holy day, MCC will be holding a 4-person scramble 1934 and watch party at the Club! The scramble will be limited to the first 11 teams that sign up. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 5:30p.m. and players may form their own teams. Teams will be flighted after play. The game begins at 8:00p.m. and all members are encouraged to come to the party. There will be plenty of hors d ouevres, drink specials and TV s to watch the game. Squares will be sold for $10 each with winners in each quarter. Don t miss this fun event, call Kellie to sign up for the party & the Pro Shop to sign up for golf. The Board of Directors and staff of MCC have worked very hard to improve the financial situation of the Club. Unfortunately, the financing from Twin City Bank did not come through and the Board could not refrain from an assessment to cover operating costs. This is a minor setback in the positive direction the Club has been moving, but let s not stop looking forward. We are still actively pursuing new members, as well as working to make this a better place for the membership. Keep bringing those guests, utilize the Club and enjoy your time on a beautiful golf course. If there is anything that we can do to make your time at the Club more enjoyable, please let us know. Cimarron Grubb MWGA News August was a surprisingly cool month and we were able to enjoy some good golf due to the 8:00 a.m. tee time. In September, we return to 9:00 a.m. and hope that Mother Nature will be kind to us as we go into fall. The Ladies Club Championship/Handicap Tournament was held the last weekend in August, so the winners will be congratulated in the next newsletter. We are looking forward to Guest Day on September 8. As always, members are allowed up to three guests and the format will be best ball. This is always a great time. See you on the course--sandy
