Winter, 2017 Welcome to Northern Indiana International Harvester Collectors' Club Chapter #33 Greetings from all of us here at IHCC33!

A word from our President, Carl Overmyer.. Carl s Comments Greetings to all! At the time of my writing to you, we ve sure had some unseasonably warm winter weather. That has made our entire outside farm and excavating work somewhat easier. It has also made driving to the winter farm shows much more pleasant. While at the Ft. Wayne farm show, my brother and I decided to purchase a tile plow. We re hoping to properly drain several low areas in order to increase the productivity of our ground. Things have come a long way from when my father originally purchased a Cleveland wheel tiling machine. At that time, we were using a transit and targets to visually maintain tile grade. Now with GPS capabilities, we should be able to drive over the ground with the tractor and plow to get a topography map, make a tile plan in the monitor, and then drive back over the area with plow in the ground and put in a new system! They make it sound easy, but we shall see in the coming months how easy it really is. My son Ben has purchased a new (to him) property in December with a large shop on it to continue his restoration work. He has already started sandblasting and painting several projects. Two of the major restoration pieces are an Allis-Chalmers G and an IH 1206. They are both expected to be done before planting season begins. We are planning a member meeting April 1 st but have not settled on a location yet. If anyone has a helpful suggestion, I would appreciate the input. The summer meeting will be held at Crown Point during the Red Power Review but we have yet to determine when we will have our Fall meeting. Also, if you are interested, our next board meeting will be held March 15 th in Knox, Indiana. I hope to see several Chapter 33 members at the Winter convention in Columbus, IN on March 2 nd 4 th. I wish you all to have safe travels in the coming months and a good planting season! Runnin Red Carl Overmyer As of February 1, 2017 197 Active Members!!!
