Term 4, Week 2 Wednesday 25 October 2017 Kia ora whanau, I have absolutely loved my first week and a half at Waitākiri School. Students, staff and parents have made me feel so welcome! It was a great athletics day yesterday, the weather was most kind to us. I was very impressed by the attitude and effort of all students. They were so positive and supportive of everyone s efforts. I was also impressed with the ability of the top athletes who will go on to represent the school. I would like to thank Kent Burnard and Roanne Riordan for all their effort and organisation, it was a very smoothly run event for the hundreds of students that were involved. Good luck to those who are representing Waitākiri School at the choir festival tonight. I m sure you will have a great time singing with those hundreds of students from other schools. Congratulations for getting involved. I have been amazed at the wide range of activities that are on offer to students during intervals and lunchtime. These range from the creative (drawing, dance, art, crochet) to the physical (biking, jump jam, rugby), to the academic (debating, digi club) and even mechanical (tinkering with tools). There is literally something for everyone! Thank you to the staff for providing these and many more opportunities. It was great to meet so many parents at athletics. Many of you mentioned that you have children going to Chisnallwood Intermediate and that you went there yourself. I would like to remind you that the Chisnallwood 50th anniversary is on this weekend. Please go to their website to register if you are interested. I will be there too as I was a teacher there from 2001-2004.
