Wounded Warriors Project: $5,000 The Texas A&M International University Athletics Department will host its annual Veterans Appreciation Film Screening on Monday, Nov. 9 at the Student Center Theatre. We are in the process of selecting a documentary film that will bring attention to an important issue facing our veterans. The film screening is open to the public and popcorn and drinks are provided with donations made for those items being provided to Volunteers Serving The Need, a local grassroots nonprofit that supports financially disadvantaged Laredo veterans. Sponsorship of this event would allow us to add a reception before the film for TAMIU and local veterans to meet with local citizens interested in supporting veterans causes. 2015 Heartland Conference Cross Country Championship: $5,000 In 2015, Texas A&M International University will host the Heartland Conference Cross Country Championship. All 11 schools in the conference will converge in Laredo, vying to earn a spot in the NCAA Regional Championships.
Kinesiology and Convocation Building (KCB) The Kinesiology and Convocation Bulding has served as the home of TAMIU Volleyball, and Men s and Women s Basketball since its opening in 1998. The KCB also hosts high school basketball games, volleyball/basketball camps and summer leagues, and cheerleading competitions. Located between the TAMIU Wellness and Recreation Center and the campus Physical Plant, the 49,000 sq. ft. facility seats 1,800 fans for TAMIU home games. Events Include: - NCAA Volleyball - NCAA Basketball (men s and women s) - TAMIU Volleyball and Basketball Summer Camps - High School Basketball Playoff Games - Cheerleading Competition - High School Volleyball Summer League - Average attendance of 415 fans for 2014-15 home games - 38 home games scheduled for the 2015-16 season
TAMIU Soccer Complex Considered one of the toughest places for opponents to play in the Heartland Conference, The TAMIU Soccer Complex has served as the home of the Dustdevil men s and women s soccer teams since 2002. Located on the southeast corner of campus, the complex boasts one of the best-maintained grass playing surfaces in the state of Texas. In addition, the complex is equipped with state-of-the-art field lights, making night games a favorite among fans. The field is also home to the Laredo Heat professional soccer team, one of the top teams of the USL s Premiere Development League. Renovated in 2007, Dustdevil field was expanded to allow for a maximum seating capacity of 4,000. Events Include: - NCAA Soccer (men s and women s) - TAMIU Summer Camps - Average attendance of 315 fans for 2014-15 home games - 15 home games scheduled for the 2015 season
Haynes Field/Dustdevil Softball Field Jorge Haynes Field has served as the home and practice field for the Texas A&M International University baseball team since its construction in 2007. In 2010 bleachers and an air-conditioned press box were added, as well as bullpens on either side of the field and a concession area. The field has a seating capacity of 500 and has dimensions of 320 feet in Left Field, 380 feet in Center Field, and 300 feet in Right Field. The Dustdevil Softball Field has been home of the TAMIU softball team since the program began in 2007. Dustdevil Field offers dugouts for both teams and a press box that overlooks the field. Recently constructed bleachers allow for plenty of fans to cheer on the Dustdevils. Batting cages are located just past the right field fence and a bullpen is located just outside the home team s dugout. Events Include: - NCAA Baseball - NCAA Softball - Border Olympics Baseball - Pony League Tournament - TAMIU Summer Camps - Average attendance of 280 fans for 2015 home games - 45 home games scheduled for the 2016 season
