Jake McCasland (2-6, 5.75) is slated to start on the mound for the Giants tonight. Win Streak Snapped The Giants season-high four-game winning streak was snapped with last night s series-opening defeat to the Rawhide. Despite the loss, San Jose is still 4-1 in their last five games, 7-4 in their last 11 and 14-10 in their last 24. Close Calls Yesterday s loss dropped the Giants to a league-worst 4-11 (.267) in one-run games this season. San Jose has lost their last four games that have been decided by one run (three of which have come to Visalia). Six Giants Named California League All-Stars Six San Jose Giants catcher Aramis Garcia, shortstop Ryan Howard, outfielder Brian Reynolds and pitchers Mike Connolly, Ryan Halstead and Conner Menez were named California League LAST GAME June 15 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 - R H E Visalia 0 2 0 0 2 0 0 0 0-4 13 0 San Jose 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1-3 7 0 WP: Takahashi (5-2) LP: Watson (0-1) S: Jeter (16) The Giants saw their season-high winning streak snapped at four games with a 4-3 loss to the Visalia Rawhide on Thursday evening at Municipal Stadium. Visalia starting pitcher Bo Takahashi pitched into the ninth inning before the Rawhide held off San Jose late to secure the series-opening win. Takahashi was charged with three runs (all earned) on six hits over eight-plus innings to pick-up the win. He walked three and struck out two. Bud Jeter recorded the last three outs to collect his 16th save. Visalia took the lead on Marty Herum s two-out, two-run double in the top of the fifth. Aramis Garcia (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) had two hits, including a firstinning two-run home run, to lead the Giants offensively. Starter Grant Watson (5 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO) suffered the loss. All-Stars earlier this week. Garcia and Reynolds will serve as starters for the North Division team while Halstead will not participate in the game after his promotion to Double-A Richmond on June 1. The California League All-Star Game (North Division vs. South Division) will be played on Tuesday, June 20 at Visalia s Recreation Park. First Half The Giants (30-37) have already been eliminated from first half North Division title contention. San Jose enters tonight s contest six games behind first-place Modesto with three games remaining in the half. The Giants last won a first half title in 2013 their eighth first half North Division championship over a nine-year stretch. San Jose won a California League record seven consecutive first half crowns from 2005-2011. Home Vs. Road The Giants are 20-15 on the road this season, but a league-worst 10-22 at home. San Jose is 11-4 in their last 15 road games. By comparison, the Giants have dropped 12 out of their last 16 games at home. San Jose owns a.271 team batting average (5.7 runs/game) on the road this year compared to a.241 AVG at home (3.7 runs/game). The Giants have been held to three runs or fewer in 19 out of their 32 home games this season. Pitching Shines The Giants have allowed four runs or fewer in 11 consecutive games (7-4 record). The Long Ball The Giants have hit 63 home runs this season second in the California League (Rancho Cucamonga leads with 72 HR).
