THEWOODENDWHINNY DISTRICT COMMISSIONER S REPORT By Melissa Cowburn Hi Kids, Hope you and your ponies are all doing well and you are all looking forward to huge fun filled rally. We have the wonderful Kristy joining us for handy mount, a class we all need to practice in preparation for the Lowden Shield in July. J Jenny s class will be mounted and she will be running you through your paces for your certificates. There are quite a few of you who will be sitting your C Certificates so at Pauline s request we have popped you in your own C cobs group so this will give you the best opportunity to prepare for your exams. Don t forget gear check is at the gates of the sand arena from 9am and if you have theory or a free first the gear checkers will meet you down there at 10.00am YOU MUST BE GEAR CHECKED BEFORE YOU ENTER YOUR CLASS. Again, DO NOT GO NEAR THE WATER JUMP this rally as it is not finished and it needs more work and the edges need to be stabilised but it will be fantastic when it is done. It should be ready to be used by the August rally. We now have the best water jump in the whole of the Macedon Ranges! Can all members remember to tell Judy Francis if they are not coming back to pony club after this rally (the end of the pony club year) There are a number of people on our waiting list itching to come to pony club so please, if you aren t coming back, make sure you let Judy know. That way, you won t be rostered on for the coming months either! The pony club year begins in July. All fees - $250 for one child, $470 for two members in the same family MUST be paid by the end of June. You will not be able to ride at the July rally unless you are paid up. Judy will come and remove you if you are riding and are not paid up, as you won t be covered by insurance. Fingers crossed that this beautiful weather continues into the weekend! Happy riding. PRESIDENT S REPORT By Ellie Pfeiffer First of all I would like to thank everyone for electing me to be the President of Woodend Pony Club. Our family joined the club in 1999 and have been on the committee ever since. Craig has been one of our Mr Fix-It grounds committee helpers and the water jump man and I have been on the general, and event committee every year. I have also had a stint as the secretary and chief instructor. I do have some huge shoes or should I say BOOTS to fill after Russ but I will do my best as I have become very passionate about our great club. When we joined where our ménage is today was the site of our clubrooms - an old shipping container that was used as our kitchen/clubroom/storage shed. There was one porta-loo and no running water or electricity - a huge difference from what we have today and we are still improving every year! WPC has really come a long way in these years and I ve enjoyed watching it evolve into what it is today - the best club in Central Zone! That brings me to my next point. Please see Judy and bring your membership forms (go to http://www.woodend.ponyclubvic.org.au/and downloaditbyclickingonjoinus, andthenapplicationform.fillitinandgiveittojudyfrancis with your fees - $250 for 1 child & $470 for 2 by the end of June. The new pony club year begins in July and I would hate to tell your child that they are unable to ride. Please also remember that if you are not attending this or any rally, please let Melissa know as it is a pain in the butt to organise the groups and instructors only to find some groups are empty because people are away. We are holding our Awards night in July (location to advised on Sunday) so if all those families with perpetual trophies at home could bring them on Sunday and hand them to Melissa that would be appreciated. I will be working alongside Russ to finalise the long list of jobs that need completion including the new theory room, relocating existing buildings and of course finishing the cross country area. The water jump is still out of bounds as the sides need stabilising and sand leveled. I have a huge job ahead of me and I know that if I need help in areas it will only be a phone call away. So thanks again and I will see you Sunday! Cheers Ellie Page2
