CLUB AND RANGE RULES AUGUST 17, 2018 1630 Harlansburg Road, New Castle, PA 16101

1. Treat all firearms as if they are loaded! 1.1. Always handle firearms as you would if they were loaded. 1.2. Do not load any firearm on the range until the range is clear and you are at the line, ready to shoot. 2. Never point any firearm at anything you don t wish to shoot! 2.1. The muzzle of your firearm should always be pointed down range and be kept within the side and top red boundaries of the backstop. 2.2. An exception may be for the unloading of revolvers in which the muzzle may need to point higher than usual in order for the empty cases to fall from the cylinder. 3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you are ready to shoot! 3.1. Outside and above the trigger guard is a good place to rest your finger until you are ready to shoot. 4. Be sure of your target! 4.1. Know what your target is and what is behind it. 4.2. Paper targets only! Shooting of cans, bottles, etc. is strictly prohibited. 5. Eye and ear protection are required for everyone! 6. It is highly recommended you wash your hands using soap and cold water after shooting. This will help prevent against ingestion of lead and other chemicals produced from the shooting process. 7. Absolutely NO alcohol or drugs on the premise! Failure to comply may result in termination of your membership. 8. By choosing to shoot or observe here you agree that you understand and will abide by the rules. You agree that you and your family will not sue the club or the volunteers who run and help keep up the club and its facilities. Range Commands and Etiquette Be polite and courteous to everyone at the range. Shooters of all levels of knowledge and ability are members here. Don t be afraid to offer assistance or ask for it if you are unsure about anything. Communicate with other shooters at the range. If you need to go downrange, ask all the other shooters for a cease fire. Only when it has been announced that the range is safe should anyone proceed in front of the line and head downrange. Common Range Commands 1. Cease Fire! 1.1. Stop firing immediately! 1.2. Remove the magazine from the gun and empty the chamber. 1.3. Lock back the slide or bolt or open the cylinder.

1.4. Insert a flag into the action to indicate the gun has been made safe. If you do not have one, they can be found hanging on the wall, behind the shooting bench next to the door. 1.5. Take a step back off of the firing line. 2. Range is Safe! 2.1. All guns have been unloaded, put in a safe condition and shooters have stepped off the line. 2.2. It is safe to proceed downrange to check/change targets, collect brass, cleanup, etc. 2.3. Absolutely NO firearms or ammunition are to be handled once the range has been called safe! 3. Range is Hot! 3.1. No one is to be downrange or in front of the firing line! 3.2. EVERYONE in the range must be wearing eye and ear protection! 3.3. Firearms may be handled, loaded and shooting may resume. If you are arriving or departing while the range is hot, please keep your firearms pointed safely downrange. Only prepare and load at the firing line when you are ready to begin shooting. If you are not carrying this firearm on you when you leave, please ensure all ammunition has been removed and safely stored before leaving. INDOOR RANGE AND FACILITY RULES AND PROCEDURES 1. All members and guests MUST sign-in upon arrival. 2. Range donations MUST be placed in the red box on the counter. $5.00 for Members and $8.00 for guests. Persons under the age of 16 may shoot free, however, they must operate under close, adult supervision. 3. Firearms and Cartridges a. Absolutely NO magnum loads permitted! i.e..44 magnum,.357 magnum,.22 magnum,.17 HMR b. No.50 caliber rounds c..22lr rifles are the ONLY permitted rifles to be shot indoors and must be done from the 50-foot shooting line. 4. All spectators must remain behind the shooting line at all times and must wear proper eye and ear protection. 5. Targets PAPER ONLY! a. Absolutely nothing other than paper targets may be shot at the indoor range. b. Targets should be suspended by the metal holders in front of the backstop. 6. Clean-up a. Sweep and collect your casings. If you do not wish to take them with you, receptacles are provided in front of station 12 where they can be deposited. b. Throw away all other garbage. There are cans located in the clubhouse for paper, plastic and aluminum products. c. Please paint the backstop when you are done shooting for the day. This keeps the range appearance up. Paint supplies can be found in front of station 12.

d. Be sure to turn off all lights and exhaust fan before leaving. e. During the winter months, please turn the furnace back down to 55 degrees if you are the last to leave. This helps conserve energy while the facility is not in use. 7. Your access card to the clubhouse is club property. Do not loan it out to anyone for any reason. If unauthorized use of your card is discovered, you will be subject to suspension or membership termination. If indoor range shooters are going to be using one of the closer shooting lines instead of the 50 firing line, do NOT load the firearm until you are at your shooting position and ready to begin firing. Transport the firearm down range either a.) in a holster or b.) with the action open, unloaded and pointed safely downrange. There are refreshments in the refrigerator. Please help yourself and kindly leave a donation in the cup on the fridge door. GUEST POLICY 1. Guests may use the facilities with a member of the club. 2. Guests must also make range donations when using the indoor range. 3. Spouses of members and children under age 18 (and still living at home) are considered guests unless an appropriate family membership has been paid for. 4. The member who has brought guests is solely responsible for the guests brought onto the premises. Limit 3 guests per member. 5. After 4 visits to the range as a guest, that person must decide to pay dues and join. Guest visits are not permitted long-term. OUTDOOR RANGE RULES AND PROCEDURES 1. There are 3 designated shooting areas at the outdoor range. a. 1 25-yard pistol range b. 1 shotgun range c. 1 100-yard rifle range 2. You must supply your own targets for the range. a. Do NOT bring rubbish or garbage items out here to shoot. b. Acceptable targets are paper, cardboard, steel plates, clay pigeons. c. Affix targets to the wooden backstops or your own target stands if shooting at a closer range. d. Shotguns are NOT permitted on the pistol or rifle range. There is a cable section to the right of the pistol range which is for shotguns. 3. Shooting hours are Monday thru Saturday 9:00 a.m. until dusk. Sundays Noon to 6:00. 4. Eye and ear protection are required for everyone at the range!

5. Please cleanup after yourself. There are barrels for trash products. Kindly do your best to pick up your spent casings as well. There are buckets at the range if you do not wish to take your brass with you. You may deposit them in these. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND AND AGREE, LEAVE NOW! Release of claims for accidental injuries or death, agreement not to sue and agreement to hold harmless, in connection with participation in shooting activities. In consideration of their presence at and/or participation in any shooting activities at the Castle Pistol Club (hereinafter CPC ) all individuals using or present at CPC ranges and groups and every shooter and observer agrees on behalf of themselves individually, their heirs, executors and assigns, and any minor children who accompanies them that they 1.) do so at their own risk, 2.) assume responsibility for any injury to persons or property caused by them and 3.) for themselves, their heirs, executors, and assigns, and for any minor children who accompanies them they agree that in the event any claim for damages is or in the future shall be prosecuted against CPC or its officers, directors, committee chairman or members, instructors, range officers, coaches, agents, or employees as a result of their actions, omissions, or negligence, that they, or their estate, shall indemnify and save harmless CPC, its officers, directors, committee chairman or members, instructors, agents, or employees from any and all claims or causes of action by whomever and wherever made or prosecuted for damages, including the cost and expense of defending the same. You are personally responsible for all damage that you cause. By remaining on these premises, you agree to the following: All range shooting is governed by these rules except that special rules may apply during special events or at the discretion of the CPC executive board.
