LOS ANGELES DODGERS (82-63) at Arizona Diamondbacks (61-84) LHP Rich Hill (12-3, 1.80) vs. RHP Archie Bradley (6-9, 5.10) Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 6:40 p.m. PT Chase Field Phoenix, AZ Game 146 Road Game 72 (35-36) Night Game 106 (55-50) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 (Eng.)/KTNQ 1020 AM (Span.)/AM 1540 (Kor.) ONTO ARIZONA: The Dodgers today begin a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks as they continue on their season-long 10- game road trip (3-3). With 17 games to play in the regular season, the Dodgers lead the Giants by 5.0 games in the NL West and their magic number to clinch the club s fourth consecutive division title is 13. The Dodgers final homestand of the 2016 season begins Monday and features games against the Giants (3) and Rockies (4). The Dodgers remaining 17 games are all against divisional opponents and to date the club has gone 34-25 (.576) against the NL West. Los Angeles is 10-5 this season and 38-15 against the Diamondbacks since the start of the 2014 season, and, according to STATS, LLC that matches the highest win total for any series in that span (St. Louis is 38-19 vs. Milwaukee). With yesterday s win, the Dodgers 82 nd of the year, the club clinched its sixth consecutive winning season, the secondlongest streak in Los Angeles history (10, 1969-78). DOING IT ALL: Corey Seager had his eight-game hitting streak snapped last night, but continues to rank among the NL leaders in hits (178, 3 rd ), runs (96, 5 th ), doubles (39, T-2 nd ), total bases (298, 5 th ), batting average (.317, T-3-5 th ), multi-hit games (53, 3 rd ), extra-base hits (67, 6 th ) and slugging pct. (.530, 10 th ). Seager s 25 home runs are the most ever by a Dodger shortstop and the third most by a Los Angeles rookie, behind only Mike Piazza (35, 1993) and Joc Pederson (26, 2015). He already holds the Los Angeles record for doubles and runs scored by a rookie and currently has the highest on-base percentage by an LA rookie, while approaching the team single-season rookie leaders in most major offensive categories: Los Angeles Rookie Leaders, Since 1958 Category Seager (Rank) Leader Hits 178 (2 nd ) Sax (180, 1982) Runs 96 (1 st ) Seager Doubles 39 (1 st ) Seager Home Runs 25 (3 rd ) Piazza (35, 1993) Average.317 (2 nd ) Piazza (.318, 1993) SLG.530 (2 nd ) Piazza (.561, 1993) OBP.374 (1 st ) Piazza (.370, 1993) JUST 10 GAMES LEFT: Dodger Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully is scheduled to call just 10 more games for the Dodgers, a team he has worked for since 1950. The Dodgers will hold Vin Scully bobblehead night on Sept. 20 (7:10 p.m. vs. SF) and salute the Hall of Famer with Vin Scully Weekend, Sept. 23-25, which opens with Vin Scully Appreciation Night and special pre-game ceremonies on Friday, Sept. 23 (7:20 p.m. vs. COL). The Dodgers will also issue a commemorative limited edition coin celebrating Vin s career on Saturday, Sept. 24 and on Sunday, Sept. 25, each fan will receive a special edition of the Dodger Insider Magazine dedicated to the great broadcaster. Tickets for Vin Scully Weekend can be purchased online at Dodgers.com/LALovesVin. Scully will hold two media availabilities next week, with a conference call on Monday, Sept. 19 at 10:00 a.m. PT and a press conference on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3:00 p.m. PT at Dodger Stadium. Please contact the Dodgers Public Relations Department for more information at 323-224-1301. TWO FOR THE MONEY: Two Dodger minor league teams are currently playing for the championship of their respective leagues: Triple-A Oklahoma City fell to El Paso again last night, this time in Game 2 of their best-of-five PCL championship series. The OKC Dodgers will be off today and resume their series on Friday with Dodger left-hander Brett Anderson trying to keep their season alive. Single-A Great Lakes lost to the Clinton Lumber Kings in Game 1 of the Midwest League championship last night. Game 2 of a best-of-five series is today at 4:30 p.m. PT and Walker Buehler will take the ball for the Loons. PERFECT: Left-hander Rich Hill will make his fourth start for the Dodgers and has a pretty tough act to follow, as he threw 7.0 perfect innings last Saturday in Miami against the Marlins. Hill has spun 19.0 consecutive scoreless innings with the Dodgers, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out 20. According to Stats, LLC, since 1974, the only other starting pitcher to begin his career with a team and post a longer scoreless streak was Detroit s Jordan Zimmermann this season (24.1). Overall, Hill is unbeaten in his last 11 starts since May 7, with a career-best nine-game winning streak, going 9-0 with a 1.43 ERA (10 ER/63.0 IP), a.158 opponents batting average (35-for-221) and 69 strikeouts against just 17 walks in that span. Last year, Turner was also nominated and became the NL West finalist. Online balloting is now open at www.mlbplayers.com and fans can select the finalists for the award, an honor that goes to the player whose on-field performance and contributions to his community inspire others to higher levels of achievement. Voting will continue through midnight, September 18. Turner drove in a run last night, giving him a team-leading 81 RBI, and also cracked his career-high tying 30 th double (also 2011). Turner leads the Dodgers and is tied for third in the National League with 27 go-ahead RBI this season. THE BIG MAN: Kenley Jansen nailed down the save by striking out the side in his Yankee Stadium debut last night and ranks among the NL s best in saves (44, 2 nd ), ERA (1.72, 3 rd ), opponents batting average (.150, 2 nd ), WHIP (0.65, 1 st MLB) and strikeouts (94 in 62.2 innings, 5 th ). Jansen last night matched his career high of 44 saves, set in 2014. The Dodger bullpen ranks second in the NL in both ERA (3.29, 189 ER/517.1 IP) and opponents batting average (.216), while leading the league in WHIP (1.13). The Dodger bullpen leads the NL with 545 strikeouts and last night had four different pitchers (Clayton Kershaw, Grant Dayton, Luis Avilan and Kenley Jansen) strikeout at least three batters against the Yankees, which was a franchise record. DRE DAY: On this date in 2009, Andre Ethier s walk-off homer against the Pirates in the 13 th inning gave him four walk-off blasts on the season, which tied an MLB record. Ethier hit his seventh-career walkoff homer on Aug. 2, 2015 and has the most walk-off homers (7) and RBI (15) in Los Angeles Dodgers history.
