TRAIL BLAZING SAMS FLORIDA CHAPTER # 47 April, 2018 Issue 6 of 9 Newsletter Year Nov 2017 Oct 2018 PRESIDENT VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER John Russano Ray Turner Mike Lima Linda Kuiken (352) 200-1280 (813) 779-9561 (813)220-8116 (941)365-1453 April Campout April 18 22, 2018 Florida Good Sams Spring Rally Okeechobee, FL Twelve member rigs (including 2 staff) were represented at the Spring Rally. In addition, we were joined by our guests, Bruce & Barbara Kanoza. Most of us arrived on Early Bird Tuesday in preparation for all the activities. We like to get an early start on all the great times we always have at the Rallies. Pictured below, some of our members at the Opening Ceremonies Ken Kuiken and Linda Kuiken, Treasurer, carried the banner and represented Trail Blazing Sams in the Parade of Colors during the Florida Good Sam Rally Opening Ceremonies

INDOOR GAMES INDOOR GAMES Page 2 As we have done for many years at all the Florida Good Sam Rallies, Trail Blazing Sams was the host Chapter for all the Indoor Games (Cards and Dominoes), played both Wednesday and Thursday. In addition to an overall coordinator, TBS provides a person to oversee each game. We also fill in, where needed to have the right number of players for each game so everyone can play. Volunteers Pictured At Right L to R: Juliet Dudinsky (TBS Coordinator), Ruth Hemphill, Loretta Redderoth ASD, Joan Conway & Jeannette Ormsby Juliet Dudinsky 1st Place Euchre. 1st Place Hand & Foot Dennis LaPerle & Ruth Hemphill BINGO We all love to play Bingo. Several of o u r m e m b e r s played Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Some of us were even lucky enough to win: Juliet, Jeannette, Linda V and our big winner Brenda Gollihue who won $50 Linda, Dennis & Brenda Planning Their Strategy Juliet Dudinsky & Ruth Hemphill

Page 3 OUTDOOR GAMES ABOVE: Trail Blazing Sams members waiting to play Bean Bag Baseball. For the first time, one of the games at a Florida Rally was Corn Hole This was a great new addition and we all had fun playing. Playing Bean Bag Baseball Linda & Ken Kuiken HOLEY BOARD We always have several teams playing Holey Board, a favorite game for TBS Livia Popovich Big Congratulations To Serge Frechette-1st Place

Page 4 BOCCE BALL At each Florida Rally, Trail Blazing Sams coordinates Bocce Ball. There is usually a large turnout since everyone loves Bocce Ball. We are responsible for Sign Up, Check In, Keeping Track of Results, Explaining The Rules and Serving as Referees for all the games. Our Volunteers Pictured at Right: Dennis LaPerle, Richard Ormsby, Bill Hemphill, Coordinator, Bill Conway, Steve Popovich, Serge Frechette, Mike Abrams, Frank Cosentino Early Sign Up For All The Games Juliet Dudinsky & Bill Hemphill Check In Juliet Dudinsky & Liz Abrams FLEA MARKET Another activity Trail Blazing Sams coordinates at all the Florida Rallies is the Flea Market. In addition to coordinating the event, we always participate in the Flea Markets. Thanks to our coordinator, Joan Conway, and everyone who participated and contributed. Everyone loves a bargain, so the flea markets are always well attended. At the Okeechobee Rally, TBS made $141.50 which will be added to our Treasury. Ruth Hemphill, Brenda Gollihue, Linda Kuiken, Livia Popovich & Joan Conway

Page 5 SELLING WATER At each Florida Rally, Trail Blazing Sam sells bottled water at all the events. This is a big job and takes a commitment from a lot of people. We buy the water and ice it down. Then we sell the water at each event. Everyone wants a bottle of ice cold water. Thanks to Jeannette and Richard Ormsby for coordinating the water sales in Okeechobee. Our net sales were $212. This money will be donated to Dogs For a Better Life and Florida Guide Dogs Ready To Sell Water Bill Conway, Steve Popovich, Ken Kuiken, & Joan Conway Brenda Gollihue Richard Ormsby No Matter What The Project Is, Ken & Linda Kuiken Always Step Up To Help

Page 6 SEEN AT THE OKEECHOBEE RALLY Three of our members do double duty at the rallies. Mary and Robin Murray are Assistant State Directors. Mary is the State Secretary and Robin is Parliamentarian. They are also responsible for door prizes at all the Rallies. Linda Voyton is the State Treasurer Congratulations to our very own Jeannette Ormsby who won 1st Place in the Patriotic Division of the Hat Contest. Well done, Jeannette. Also, thank you, Jeannette, for taking all the TBS pictures at the Okeechobee Rally and also pictures of the Indoor Games Winners for the State website. Looking at the pictures shows us what a great time we all had. Page 7 FUN WITH GOOD FRIENDS AT THE FRANKLIN LOCK As has been our tradition for many years, several of us traveled to the Franklin Lock after the Okeechobee Rally. This Corps of Engineers Park is located right on the Caloosahatchee River with most of the sites right on the water. We didn t have an agenda, just a group of TBS friends having a relaxing time. We had some great food, went out for dinner, visited Fishermen s Wharf and did some sightseeing. We played some games and just sat around visiting. What fun! Bill Hemphill and Marley Enjoying The Good Weather Having Fun Sharing A Few Tall Tales There is nothing any better than just sitting around with good friends enjoying the weather and being together. We love our unofficial TBS campout at the Franklin Lock, always one of our favorite outings. It Is So Relaxing To Just Sit By The River Enjoying The Time With Good Friends

Page 8 FUN WITH GOOD FRIENDS AT THE FRANKLIN LOCK Yum We Always Look Forward To Jeannette s Famous Spaghetti Why is it food always tastes so much better when we eat it outside? It is so enjoyable to just sit outside and enjoy being with friends. Our time at the Lock always goes by so fast. Steve & Livia, Carolyn & Dave
