The original film was based on a short film of the same name made in 2006 and was cowritten by Jeff Howard. Loaded with horror tropes, the film is touted to be a spine chiller that psyches your mind with reflections of the past and hallucinations of the present. But unlike the English version which was engaging, this film penned by director Prawaal Raman is burdened with a selfimposed history, a verbose script and a badly mounted screenplay loaded with ghost-induced hallucination and flash backs. This makes the viewing distractedly confusing, and far from what it was flaunted to be. Oscillating between events that took place years ago and the present, it is the story of the Merchant siblings Natasha (Huma Qureshi) and Kabir (Saqib Saleem). They are the driving force of the tale. Convicted for the brutal murder of his father Alex (Adil Hussain), Kabir is released from the correction centre after his girlfriend and criminal psychologist Tanya (Rhea Chakraborty) convinces the court that he can have a smooth transition into society. On his release, Natasha emotionally cajoles Kabir to return to their childhood home, which she sets up with electronic gadgets, three cameras, and a caged dog. She does this in order to prove her point that the framed mirror which their father had purchased as an art collection, in reality is the residence of a supernatural force that caused their parents' death. Thus citing that Kabir and their father are innocent of all the horrific violence that occurred years ago. Her only motive now is to prove her point and destroy the mirror. During the course of this exercise, the duo lose grip on reality and their trauma is once again rekindled. On the performance front, every actor seems to execute their part perfunctorily. Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem, though siblings in real life, seem to be distant on screen and their performance lacks lustre. They fail to internalise their fear and hence their act seems shallow and fake. Similarly, the enthusiasm of the character seems to be lost on Adil Hussain and Lisa Ray who plays his wife. This is evident when Adil mechanically recites the poem, "Fi fie, foe, fum, I smell the blood of an English mana." The rest of the characters seem like mere pawns on the board. Also with a majority of the portion shot in the single house and events, past and present unfurling concurrently with a handful of characters, the film fails to create anxiety and instead seems more theatrically staged. Overall, despite the above average production values and a fine technical team, the film fails to engage you psychologically. Clarke prefers Yuvraj over Rahane in ICC Champions Trophy LONDON, (IANS) Former Australia captain Michael Clarke said he preferred playing Yuvraj Singh ahead of Ajinkya Rahane. Clarke's comments came after former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin said Yuvraj and veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni are indeed not the same finishers they were a few years ago. "I'd go with the two most experienced players in Yuvraj and Dhoni. This is their time to really stand up. You do need the mix of youth and experience in the team. Bowlers give India strong chance to defend CT title: Laxman NEW DELHI, (IANS) Terming young pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as among the best death overs bowlers in world cricket, former star batsman V.V.S Laxman said a powerful bowling line-up gives India a strong chance to defend their Champions Trophy title. Laxman said that skipper Virat Kohli will be depending on these two bowlers because of their current form and the pace-friendly conditions in England which is hosting the Champions Trophy from June 1 to 18. Kumar scalped three wickets in each of the two warm-up matches that India played against New Zealand and Bangladesh while Bumrah was economical."india has got four quality fast bowlers and along with that they have got two quality spinners in (Ravichandran) Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja; it's important to pick up wickets not only with the new ball but also with the middle overs. India are placed in Group B along with Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The defending champions will start their Champions Trophy campaign on June 4 against arch-rivals Pakistan at Edgbaston. In the past, the social media giant has launched several theme-based frames, including frames for Mother's Day, Indian Premier League, among others. During the tournament, users will see a message from Facebook on the profile inviting them to add a profile frame to support a team. Mississauga to Bid on 2020 Ontario Summer Games MISSISSAUGA - On the heels of hosting a successful 2016 Ontario Summer Games, Council has approved the City of Mississauga's bid to host the 2020 Ontario Summer Games. Mayor Crombie said: "Mississauga continues to cement its reputation as a leading destination to plan, organize and host national and international competitions of athleticism. We still feel the pride and legacy of the 2016 Ontario Summer Games. Council and staff are energized about the opportunity to once again showcase our civic pride and celebrate our community spirit as hosts of the 2020 Ontario Summer Games. "The Games are an opportunity to encourage volunteerism, contribute to local tourism and economic activity and help communities build their experience and resources to host largescale events. Investing in local athletes is at the heart of citybuilding. This is especially true in a diverse community like Mississauga. Sport transcends language and culture. It is truly a unifying force for good," Mayor Crombie added. Mississauga was selected to host the 2016 Ontario Summer Games, which attracted more than 4,000 young athletes and officials competing in 32 sport events over four days. This was the largest sporting event ever hosted in Mississauga, achieving an estimated economic impact of $6 million according to an assessment conducted by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance. "As a destination for sport tourism, we are excited to place a bid on the 2020 Ontario Summer Games," said Paul Mitcham, Commissioner, Community Services. "To host the Games again would give us another opportunity to showcase our outstanding sport facilities and welcome thousands of athletes and visitors to Mississauga." The Ontario Summer Games is the largest multi-sport event in the province, with 3,200 young athletes expected to compete in 23 sport events in 2020. The preliminary operating budget is projected to be $1.652 million. The City's contribution of $250,000 will offset staffing and administration requirements for the Games. Hosting the 2020 Games would advance the City's Sport Plan and Sport Tourism strategy. The strategy provides a focused approach and vision for the future of competitive sport events in Mississauga. In addition to bidding for the 2020 Summer Games, Mississauga will also host the 55+ Ontario Summer Games in 2018. The Ontario Summer Games are supported by the Ontario Government, through its Games Ontario program. This program delivers or supports multi-sport events, including the Ontario Winter and Summer Games for youth, the Ontario 55+ Summer and Winter Games, the Ontario ParaSport Games, the 2017 North American Indigenous Games and the 2017 Invictus Games. The City will submit the bid to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS) by June 15, 2017 and will be notified of the outcome of the bid in the fall.
