BU and TAMUCC are meeting for the first time since Dec. 2004 BU leads the all-time series 2-1. BU won its season opener vs. UCA 107-66 its most points vs. a DI team since March 20, 2013. BU broke school records for field goal percentage (66.1) and 3-point percentage (70.6) vs. UCA. All five starters scored 15+ points for the first time in program history vs. Central Arkansas. BU is ranked No. 24 in the preseason AP Top 25, the 6th preseason ranking in program history. Baylor returns six letterwinners from last season s 27-8 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 team. Tristan Clark became Baylor s first true freshman to start a season opener since Ish Wainright in 2013. Mark Vital also made his Baylor debut and posted 6 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. BU has won 44 consecutive non-conference home games, the nation s 2nd-longest streak (Duke, 134). The Bears are coming off a school-record fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Head coach Scott Drew is in his 15th season at Baylor and is the school s all-time wins leader (278). Six Baylor players have been selected in the last six NBA Drafts, 10th-most nationally. Drew (46) is the youngest of nine coaches to take his current program to four Sweet 16s since 2010. RECORD-BREAKING SEASON OPENER Baylor began the 2017-18 season with a 107-66 win over Central Arkansas on Nov. 10. The Bears broke program records for field goal percentage (66.1) and 3-point percentage (70.6). All five BU starters scored 15+ points for the first time in program history. BU s 107 points were its most vs. a Division I opponent since March 20, 2013 a 112-66 win vs. Long Beach State. Tristan Clark (15 pts) was the first true freshman to start a BU season opener since Ishmail Wainright in 2013. Nuni Omot had more assists (9) than all of last season (8). He also set career-highs in points (15) and minutes (26). Manu Lecomte (22 pts), Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. (17 pts) and King McClure (15 pts) also scored 15+ points. Terry Maston had 14 points and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for his 2nd career double-double. EXPERIENCE ACROSS ROSTER Baylor s roster features 12 players who are at least 20 years old, and six of the 13 roster players are at least 22. NATION S BEST IN FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL Baylor went a combined 67-18 across football, men s basketball and women s basketball in 2016-17, the nation s best combined record in those sports for a second straight season (68-17 in 2015-16). He spent five years as a Baylor assistant before taking over as Arkansas State head coach in 2016-17. Paul Mills is in his first season as head coach at Oral Roberts. NEW FACES ON BAYLOR BENCH Scott Drew added two new coaching staff members and promoted three others in June 2017. Bill Peterson joined the staff as Director of Basketball Operations.
