The Jefferson Shooter Official publication of The Jefferson State Shooting Association Inc. January 2016 YOUR LOCAL SHOOTING SPORTS ASSOCIATION CMP ASKS CUSTOMERS NOT TO CALL! The CMP asks those interested in purchasing a surplus 1911 pistol not to call or email them as it only slows things down. As with any thing government the process is slow to begin with and antsy buyers will only make it slower by having government employees respond to nuisance phone calls. When they are ready to begin sales it will be announced in their bulletins and on their website. BROOKLYN MAY BAN AMMO! Borough politicians want to severely restrict or ban ammo in NYC. A proposal by some representatives of the people seeks to limit ammo purchases to the guns capacity plus one reload and only if the gun is registered to the buyer. The limit will be for every 90 days. This would obviously force any competitive shooter out of Brooklyn and virtually eliminate practice sessions for proficiency with a defensive firearm. These lawmakers look upon this legislation as a starting point for further negotiations. (Starting point? For what? ED) COMING ACTIVITIES ******************** MIXED STEEL JANUARY 3RD ELECTION OF OFFICERS JANUARY 20TH.22 RIM FIRE CHALLENGE FEBRUARY 6TH SEATTLE GUN TAX UPHELD! The tax on firearms and ammunition was challenged as a violation of state preemption law by NRA and local plaintiffs. NRA and the others said they will appeal. One other city has implemented a similar tax and that is Chicago two years ago. Taxes collected so far are in escrow while that law is appealed also. It has been learned that the judge was appointed by former anti gun Democratic governor and Obama appointee Gary Locke. TAXES & RED TAPE Another NY congresswoman is proposing a $100 tax on every firearm sold in the U.S. Her objectives apparently are to use the funding for gun violence research, more properly defined as developing more legislation to attack the second amendment. She would be quite satisfied if fewer guns ended up in lawful commerce due to the increased cost. Two state legislators in Pennsylvania want to establish a Firearms Eligibility License for the states gun owners. Requirements would be: a resident must be 18 or older, endure 16 hours of training, pay $50 for the license that can be revoked at any time and must renew every 5yrs for $30. No real purpose except to add expense and more hoops to wiggle through for essentially no purpose. This smacks of the same red tape that Illinois gun owners must go through for their FOID card, government permission to own a gun. H A P P Y N E W Y E A R! JSSA P.O. He also says that only birdshot of #6 and smaller will be permitted to prevent excessive wear on the steel targets..22 rim fire class is also available. CA. CONFISCATION LAW TAKES EFFECT JAN. 1. On January 1 California will put into effect a law that permits family members and others to file a Gun Violence Restraining Order against any family member if they feel they would pose a danger to others. When the order is presented to a judge he will determine whether the persons firearms will be confiscated for 21 days The confiscation will take place with no notice to the owner and he will have 21 days to prove he is not a danger to anyone (guilty until proven innocent?). The law also allows for a restraining order to be requested by anyone that has resided with the subject within the last 6 months or any person suspects a danger may be present to notify police to investigate. 2 ANOTHER GUN BAN IN THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPS. Rep David Cicline has introduced H.R.4269 The Assault Weapon Ban of 2015. This is not a reinstatement of the 1994 Clinton ban but a new bill with bans on more semi automatic firearms. The bill would ban the manufacture of most semi automatic rifles with detachable magazines, many semi automatic shotguns, any semi automatic with a fixws magazine of over 10 rounds and magazines over 10 rnds. There are 123 fellow Democrats co sponsors along with our own Blumenauer and Bonamici.

The fanatics that killed 14 and wounded many more in San Bernadino did not seem to be bothered with the stringent gun regulations in California. They possessed 2 lawfully purchased handguns that required the transfer through a licensed California dealer (federal license alone is not sufficient in the state). They had to endure a 10 day waiting period and attendant background check. They had to obtain a handgun safety certificate to document they new how to properly use the firearms. The pistols had to be on the DOJ s (politically) approved list of safe firearms. Two semi automatic rifles were purchased for them in violation of state and federal law making straw purchases felonies. The buyer additionally committed a federal felony by lying on the federal form 4473 when he answered Yes to the question is this firearm for your own personal use?.the rifles were apparently modified in some undisclosed manner. Magazines for the rifles exceeded the 10 round limit for the state. See California pg 5. 3

AIRGUNS I think we all remember our first gun and it most likely was a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun that had a velocity of about 250fps for the.177 cal copper plated BB s. The January issue of the American Rifleman magazine has some state of the art new versions of air guns in some amazing calibers. They are a long way from the simple lever action spring piston Red Ryder as these are PCP (pre charged pneumatic) type guns with self contained refillable air reservoirs that can contain pressures of up to 3,000 psi. These new guns are chambered in.35 and.45 caliber. One of the guns described is a single Club members and the public will have more to enjoy when visiting our rifle ranges. The Larry Martin range received three new targets around 230 yards while the Richard Wickline range got new targets every hundred yards from 200-600. Special thanks to Northwest Action Works for their fiscal donation, jssa, Bill Rutherford for the fabrication of the targets and the band of outlaws that braved the winter conditions to place the targets onsite. Erick 4 shot.45 cal that has a muzzle velocity of 750 fps that is about equal to.45acp target ammo from a firearm. One of the guns can develop 1,000fps for a.457 dia. Pellet! Air guns have come a long way since the ones that Lewis and Clark carried on their expedition into the Pacific northwest. The Henley high school JRAFROTC has an air rifle team that practices almost daily before classes with their PCP competition grade air rifles and accuracy is outstanding! The 10 ring is.5mm and the 9ring is 5.5mm or 1mm over pellet diameter.

The rifles are required to be unloaded in transportation and if registered as an assault rifle are to be locked in a container unloaded. Magazines of 10 rnds or larger are not permitted to be sold, traded or given to another person in the state. Those possessed before 2000 ar permitted to be possessed but not sold, traded or given to another r resident. These lunatics did not seem too concerned by the illegality of murder, conspiracy or any of the pathetic legal prohibitions of firearms in the state. 5
