Hatton, Ladies Tennis Chair MEN S TENNIS Men s Tennis is preparing for another outstanding season. With the USTA shakeup of ratings, many men are finding themselves on new teams in new divisions. The good news is that all of the clubs we play are experiencing the same shake-up; should make for an interesting season. If you want to play tennis this fall, but are unsure what team you are on or have not been contacted by a captain, please contact Mike or Mark: Mike Murphy irishmike@wsrc.us Mark Knowles MarkKnowles@Windstream.net Needed 3.0 men The USTA 3.0 division is struggling to find players. If you want to start playing, this is a good year for you. This Spring Weddington will field: 1-3.0 Men s team (if we can find 4 more players) 1-3.5 Men s team Captained by Eric Gutt 1-3.5 Senior Men s Team Captained by Jerry Stallings 2-4.0 Men s Teams Captained by Rich Gallagher and Jerry Stallings 2-4.0 Senior Men s Teams captained by Mark Alexander and Boyce Laney Good Luck Men! Make us proud! Mark A Knowles FYI New Coman Tiebreak Procedure Change ends after 1st point. Then change ends every 4 points thereafter. Each player serves on the side they serve from during the set. THE COMAN TIE-BREAK FORMAT: The Coman tiebreak procedure is identical to the regular tiebreak procedure except that the players change ends after the first point and then after every four points, and at the conclusion of the tiebreak. a) Will be used for both Set and Match Tie-breaks b) The player whose turn it is to serve shall serve the first point from the deuce court. c) The first point shall be served to the deuce court. After the first point, the players shall change ends and the following two points shall be served by the opponent(s) (in doubles, the player of the opposing team due to serve next) starting from the add court.
d) After this, each player/team shall serve alternately for two consecutive points (starting from the ad court); changing ends after every four points, until the end of the tie break game. e) Change ends after points 1,5,9,13,17... and at the conclusion. Principle Advantages Fairness By changing ends more frequently, the effects of the elements (sun, wind, etc.) are distributed more evenly between the two opponents as opposed to playing six consecutive points before changing ends. In doubles, the server will always serve from the same end of the court, rather than having to serve from both ends.
