Every match from this point forward is a must-win for ULM to improve its chances and not rely on the tie-breaking procedures. A major help in this push is the fact that all but two of the final matches of the season are in Monroe, with Friday s contest at UALR being one of the exceptions. The Warhawks finish the weekend at home Saturday against Troy. ULM is three games back of a tournament berth with seven matches left to play. Volleyball Quick Attacks Georgia State Sweeps ULM ULM fell 3-0 Sunday afternoon in its first-ever home battle with Georgia State to conclude the season series. Hope Pawlik tallied her third career doubledouble (12 K, 10 D) to pace the Warhawks. Warhawks Drop 3-0 Tilt to Lady Toppers Despite a tough battle in the third set, ULM could not avoid the sweep Friday night against Western Kentucky inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Hadley Swartz and Kaitlyn Shearer tied for a match-high of Match 28 at UALR (17-7, 9-3 SBC) Nov. 1, 7 p.m. Match 29 vs. Troy (9-16, 4-7 SBC)* Nov. 2, 2 p.m. *As of Oct. 31, 2013 eight kills to pace the attack. High-Flying Freshmen Hadley Swartz became the first true freshman to post 200 kills in a season at Arkansas State on Oct. 18. She is the first freshman to reach the mark as a since Blanca Ocana did it in 2009. Hope Pawlik needs 23 kills to join the 200-kill club this season. If Pawlik reaches the mark, it will be the first time ULM has had two players with over 200 kills in a season since 2011 when three players were at 200-plus kills. Record Tracker Marcela Araya currently ranks fourth all-time in career digs at ULM. She needs 51 to tie for third. She is 151 off the single-season record (547). She was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 and has the most conference awards of any ULM player since the Warhawks joined the Sun Belt in 2006. The Hiltz File Head coach Patrick Hiltz returned to ULM in Spring 2013 after a year at Nicholls State, where he posted an 11-19 record. Shortly after he was hired back to ULM, Hiltz brought assistant coach David Fischer on board to aid in the indoor game and also head up the sand program. The tandem led the Warhawks to a sand volleyball national tournament appearance this past spring. Prior to coming to Louisiana, Hiltz spent significant time in Arizona. Scouting ULM The Warhawks are coming into the weekend hungry for a win after dropping seven straight. They will look to a line of freshmen that has led the team offensively this year. Hadley Swartz is paces the squad with 232 total kills and is averaging 2.49 kills per set. Earlier this season, she became the first true freshman to record 200-plus kills in a season since current teammate Blanca Ocana accomplished the feat in 2009. Additionally, fellow freshman Hope Pawlik moved into second on the team with 177 kills (2.13 k/s avg.). Defensively, libero Marcela Araya continues to be among the conference leaders in digs per set average (4.17) while Alannah Cullum and Maria Garcia pace the blocking effort. Swartz and Araya are the only two Warhawks to play every set this season. Scouting the Opponents UALR (Fri., Nov. 1, 7 p.m.) took sole possession of second place in the Sun Belt after escaping Arkansas State in a 3-2 thriller in Jonesboro.
