During Autumn 1, Year 1 to Year 6 developed their ball and game skills. Have a look at what each year group has been up to

Year 1 Beethoven- Games In Autumn 1 we focused on games. We practised ball games and worked on attacking and defending techniques. Our core skills included rolling, hitting, running, jumping, catching and kicking.

We moved on to controlling a ball with our feet and passing with accuracy. We also had fun practising balancing a ball on a bat and eventually trying to bounce in. We learnt that it is important to stretch your muscles before all exercise and sports!

This term we have been developing our games skills. We have been throwing, rolling and catching balls accurately. GAMES Talbot Class (Year 2) Autumn Term 1 We have been learning to dodge, mark and signal for the ball and intercept. Here we are trying to roll the ball PAST our partner can you see Kemi dodging to block her partner s ball? We have been bouncing balls to a target. We bounced balls into PE hoops, moving the hoops further away as we became more confident! We have also been developing our team work skills in simple games such as hockey and ball games. We have been learning how to direct or place ball into a space in order to score.

Rudisha class (Year 3) have been working on their ball skills over the first Autumn term. We have done this by learning how to dribble a ball, of varying sizes, between obstacles how to work well independently, in small groups and as a team

Over head and how to pass a ball to our partner. Under arm Chest pass Roll

GAMES Simmonds Class Autumn Term 1 We have been dribbling through obstacles We have been learning to do a variety of different ball passes, such as chest, roll, shoulder and bounce. We have been practising how to catch balls. We have been trying to hit a target with our ball

GAMES Curie class (Year 4) Autumn Term 1 This term we have been developing our games skills.

We have been learning to hit balls high and low. We have been learning to dodge, mark and signal for the ball and intercept. We have been learning how to direct or place ball into a space in order to score. We have also been developing our team work skills.

GAMES Newton class (Year 4) Autumn Term 1 We learnt how to dodge, mark and signal. We learnt how to throw and catch a ball at different heights. We developed our skills using a bat and ball.

YEAR 5 PE - GAMES This term Year 5 have been building on their games skills.

In order to be able to play games such as tennis, volley ball, rounders, netball etc Year 5 have been developing their games skills. These include learning how to accurately strike, throw, position and retain a ball. They have also learnt how to position themselves to receive a ball coming form different angels and heights, use fingertips to control a moving ball as well as catch, pivot and mark or dodge an opponent in a game situation.

Year 6 PE - Tennis This term we have been learning to play tennis. We have mastered our forehands, backhands and are now ready to have rallies with each other! Have a look at what we have been doing

For the first few lessons, we became familiar with holding a racket and practised our hand/eye coordination. For lessons 2, 3 and 4 we became familiar with the two different strokes: forehand and backhand. Lessons 5 and 6 were about accuracy. We practised rallying (hitting the ball backwards and forwards without stopping) with a partner.
