Lawrence North Student-Athletes of the Week Edin Hall (Swimming), Karsten Harshbarger (Wrestling), and Jacob Penrose (Swimming) Sophomore Edin Hall helped the girls swimming & diving team to three wins last week. Edin had two individual victories and was a member of four winning relay teams. She also gets it done in the classroom. An honor roll student, Hall currently posts a 3.625 GPA! The Wildcats are now 4-0 this season. Sophomore Karsten Harshbarger has been on fire to start the wrestling season, currently 11-0 at 106 lbs. He went 5-0 with 4 pins to help the Wildcat wrestlers win the Bloomington North Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Jacob Penrose won three individual events, all in personal best times, and was on two winning relay teams helping the Wildcat swimmers to wins over Brebeuf, Pike, and Ben Davis to start the season. Karsten and Jacob get it done in the classroom as well, as both currently post a 4.0 GPA!

Boys Basketball: The Wildcats (2-0) started the season with two big wins over the #2 and #1 teams in class 3A! The 4A #4 Cats traveled to #2 Park Tudor to open up the 2016-2017 campaign. The Wildcats started slow, down most of the game. Entering the 4 th quarter, LN was behind 31-28. Then the Cats caught fire, outscoring the Panthers 19-4 in the final period to win going away, 47-35. Kevin Easley had 13 points, Ra Kpedi put up 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Dexter Shouse turned up the heat defensively to hold their top scoring player scoreless in the 4 th quarter. The Wildcats then went on the road to take on the #1 Marion Giants. Lawrence North used an 11-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to break open a close game for a solid 67-53 win. Antwaan Cushingberry led the team with 19 points and 7 assists. Next up for the Wildcats is the home opener a mid-week clash on Wednesday, December 7 th against township and MIC rival Lawrence Central. Advanced purchase tickets to the game can be picked up at the LN or LC athletic office for $5.00. Tickets at the gate will be $8.00, so get your tickets early. This will sell out! Girls Basketball: The #5 4A Wildcats (6-2, 1-1 MIC) beat MIC rival and #1 ranked Carmel on the road, 55-45. This was their 3 rd victory over a #1 team this season! A back and forth game for the most part, the Wildcats took over in the 4 th quarter to pull away for the victory. Destiny Perkins led the Wildcats with 16 points and Trinity Brady pitched in 9, all in the second half. Friday night showed that every game in the MIC is going to be tough, as Akron bound senior Destiny Perkins went down in the 4 th quarter with a sprained ankle. #8 Ben Davis battled back, putting in a last second three-pointer for the 65-63 win over the Cats. Brady had 20 points to lead the team, while Perkins and Katie Davidson each had 15. Next up: The Marion County tournament first round game at #3 North Central on Tuesday. Cheerleading: The Wildcat cheerleaders were busy this weekend! The cheer team split the squad up to support both the boys and girls basketball teams on Friday night. Then, on Saturday morning, the team went to the Kroger on Fall Creek Road to stuff the bus for the LN food pantry. The girls are always ready to the support the school any way they can. Great job, Wildcats!

Swimming & Diving: Both teams posted solid wins against Brebeuf, Pike and Ben Davis last week. For the girls, Brooke Atkins, Maddie Wischmann, Rebecca Fernandez, Edin Hall, Kelly Matsuoka, Jazzy Kitt, and Sam White all took home blue ribbons. On the boy s side, Charlie Myers, Jacob Penrose, Bennett Vail, Ben McAteer, Tyler Birkla, Joe Grese, Evan Sass, Jack Dempsey, and Khristian Hurt all won events for the Wildcats. The girls are now 4-0 this season, while the boys have opened the year with a 3-0 start. The Wildcats will host always tough Noblesville on Tuesday night at home.

Wrestling: The Wildcat wrestlers went 5-0 to win the Bloomington Invitational on Saturday! The Wildcats beat Center Grove (35-22), Martinsville (50-18), Bloomington South (49-21), Bloomington North (39-26), and Columbus North (61-15). Karsten Harshbarger (106 lbs) and Maliq Carr (220 lbs) both went 5-0 on the day to lead the Cats. Robert Samuels (285 lbs) and Adrian Gardrey (138 lbs) were both 4-1 on the day. The wrestlers are now 8-3 on the season. The team will travel north for the Calument Invitational on Saturday. Great job, men!

Senior golfer Abby Wischmann has signed with St. Xavier University. She will be a Cougar next year! Congrats, Abby! Four LN soccer girls recently participated in the Indiana Elite North vs South Invitational: Anslyn Freije, Kiley Shaw, Grace Moore, and Ryli John. John was recognized as the MVP in the AA mega-school underclassmen game. Great job, Wildcats! Way to represent Lawrence North!!

And finally the men of LN participated in No Shave November to bring about awareness of men s health issues. Coach Eddie Tucker was the winner of the longest beard contest. Too often, men ignore their own health issues and avoid going to the doctor.
