Special Needs Programs Children & Adults The Effingham Park District sponsors four different sports for children and adults with disabilities. The sports offered include Kickball, Basketball, Volleyball, and Baseball. These programs provide the full benefit of league participation in an athletic environment structured for individuals with disabilities to succeed. We use the same equipment, have t-shirts or pullover pinnies, and play in an athletic venue. A buddy system will be in place for all players when there is a need. We team up the player with a volunteer who provides help where needed during the game. Ultimately, the goal of participating in the sport, is to get to experience the joy of teamwork, the thrill of the crowd cheering him or her, and the pride that comes from earning awards for a job well done. Anyone with a physical or intellectual disability who cannot safely or successfully participate in the traditional sport are eligible to participate. Bowling is also offered as a program activity during the month of March. Kickball Join us for the fun sport of kickball in September. We will have a great time!
