Riding Changes: Race 6: R Agnew replaced L Cumberland (injured race 3) Race 1: Maiden Handicap 1000m Trainer Mr. J Sylvester was fined $100 (LR35) for failing to declare M Weir as the rider of Dead Reckoning by the prescribed time. Nobody reared in the barrier and struck its head on a dividing partition and was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 1.06pm. when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on Nobody be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers placed prior to 1.06pm be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1 st Dead Reckoning 12 cents Win & 14 cents Place 2 nd Lady Segolene 14 cents Place 3 rd Astral Miss 14 cents Place Trainer Mr. R Northam was advised that a warning for being fractious in the barrier would be placed on the racing record of Nobody. Reprimand slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly displayed a poor recovery. Astral Miss slow to begin. Cardee Mite slow to begin, then was hampered and carried wider passing the 200m. So Dizzy slow to begin.
Race 2: Class 3 Handicap 900m The Wasp was held up and experienced difficulty obtaining clear running from the entrance to the home straight until near the 200m. Isthmian began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly displayed a poor recovery and had cast its off fore plate. Race 3: 3YO Maiden Plate 1100m Barricade began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and was slow away. Ravitude took charge of its rider during the parade to the start, completed a circuit of the course at high speed, then dislodged L Cumberland at the winning post. Ravitude was withdrawn at 2.10pm. Trainer Mr. T Elmes was advised that prior to racing again Ravitude must be tractable during parade and when competing in an official barrier trial. Thornbro slow to begin. Hope Of A Nation dislodged A Gibbons behind the barrier. As A Gibbons was experiencing pain in his wrist, Hope Of A Nation was withdrawn at 2.15pm. when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on Ravitude and Hope Of A Nation be refunded in full and successful wagers placed prior to 2.10pm, be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1 st Majestic Pedrille 4 cents Win & 4 cents Place 2 nd Penny Dreadful 4 cents Place 3 rd Snipex Abaa 4 cents Place Further, it was ordered that successful wagers placed between 2.10pm and 2.15pm, be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1 st Majestic Pedrill 3 cents Win & 4 cents place 2 nd Penny Dreadful 3 cents Place 3 rd Snipex Abaa 3 cents Place Wanting You slow to begin. Solid North stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground (6L). Trainer Mr. T Bartley was advised that prior to racing again Solid North must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Star Bolt was presented at the enclosure without a tongue tie which is part of that geldings approved racing gear. Stable representative Ms. J Green was advised that Trainer Ms. B Somers would be fined $100 (AR140A). A tongue tie was located and applied. Wadahbills slow to begin, weakened from the 600m and tailed the field. Trainer Mr. A Craig was advised that prior to racing again Wadahbills must perform competitively in an official barrier trial. Race 5: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1300m Prince Roo when questioned regarding the altered riding tactics in the early stages, S Lisnyy explained that because his mount was resuming today and connections considered there was ample speed in the race, he was instructed to obtain cover in the early stages. He said that after beginning well he restrained Prince Roo to achieve this however when the tempo eased passing the 1100m, his mount over raced and took charge of him for a short distance. He said that he was carried wider rounding the turn near the 900m when he was experiencing difficulty regaining control of his mount and after this the gelding was unresponsive and weakened from the 500m, in his opinion due to its waywardness. Trainer Mr. S Schofield confirmed the instructions. Mr. Schofield was reprimanded (AR135A) for failing to notify a change of tactics. Sadhika pulled hard during the middle stages. Race 6: Benchmark 60 Handicap 1600m Kokopu the rider accidentally dropped his whip passing the 350m. Race 7: Class 5 Plate 1400m Sassaby pulled hard during the middle stages and had to be steadied passing the 800m. De La Hoya over raced during the middle stages. Lonely Orphan slow to begin. L elu was crowded passing the 1100m.
Race 8: Class 1 Handicap 1100m A Good Yank withdrawn at 4.39pm (track downgrade) Laszlo when questioned in relation to his vigour during the concluding stages, P King explained that he was experiencing difficulty with vision as his goggles had become caked with mud and he was unsure of the distance between his mount and the heels of War Hero and this was the reason that he stopped riding with the whip inside the 50m. The Gelding was treated on course by the clubs veterinary officer for lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer Ms. K Buchanan was advised that prior to racing again Laszlo would be required to undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness. Caribou withdrawn 4.39pm (track downgrade) Mac s Reward shifted out abruptly under pressure passing the 200m. Jazzee Nicc hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride. Ultimate Fantasy had to be steadied at the entrance to the home straight. Enthusiasm saddle slipped backwards significantly passing the 700m and was restrained out of the race. Summary of whip use Race 2: R Murray Our Meteor 6 strikes prior to the 100m.
