WELCOME TO THE 2013 Twister Invitational (10U & 12U) Taunton Girls Softball League TAUNTON, MASS Check in: a. Be sure to check in with the tournament director at least 1 hour prior to your first scheduled game time. b. Check- in is at the concession stand. c. Tournament is sanctioned by MASS ASA. You must have an Official ASA Roster signed by one of the local ASA Officials or have proof of an electronic signature from the ASA organization which confirms eligibility of the players as to age, residence and participation. d. In addition to the Official Roster, Team managers must also have birth certificates or other legal certification of birth for each player on the list AND proof of insurance. e. Please leave a contact number with the tournament director so that he/she may contact you at any time while the tournament is on.especially for Sunday game times. General Information: a. No infield practice. b. No hitting balls into the fencing. c. There is a separate field for warming up located behind Field 3, near the walk through from the rear parking lot (located at Chamberlain School). d. Full plumbing restrooms are on site and located on the side of the concession stand. Additional porta-potties are also available. e. Canopies, tents, and portable chairs are encouraged as there are no bleachers. Bug spray is also highly recommended. f. On deck cages are provided on all fields for the girls protection. For the players safety, no on-deck warm ups will be allowed outside of the cages. g. Minimum of four games will be played. (3 in pool play, 1 in elimination) h. All infields are stone-dust. i. Please be sure to report the game scores to the tournament director after each game. j. First and second place trophies in both divisions will be awarded.

**These are public school grounds and the following must be adhered to: a. No open fires or barbecues allowed in any part of the complex, including parking lots. b. No alcohol. c. No dogs or other animals allowed unless indicated for medical necessity. d. No smoking allowed in the complex. PARKING: a. NO parking will be allowed on the main road leading to the fields or on the road leading into the complex all the way up to the parking lot. (Police take notice and will ticket and/or tow cars that are parked on the roadway) There is unlimited parking at the two schools in the rear of the complex. b. Please be aware that there is a walk through to the fields from the rear parking lot (at the Chamberlain school). It allows you to enter at the back of Field 2, near the warm-up field. c. Parking in the spaces near the concession stand is reserved for umpires, tournament staff and team managers with team equipment only. Upon check-in, one pass will be provided to the team manager for their weekend use. d. Limited handicap parking is available near the concession stand. Additional handicap parking is available in all school parking lots. Rules of Play: Straight ASA rules will apply with the following exceptions: 1. Time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes. No new inning will begin after that time. There is no drop dead rule except for safety reasons as deemed necessary by the umpire(s) on the field. 2. Continuous batting order, free substitutions & 4 outfielders allowed. 3. In seeding play, a tie is a tie if the time has expired. 4. Coin flip will determine home team. Play-offs: higher seed will be the home team. 5. Home team is the official scorekeeper but both teams are requested to report the score to the tournament director. 6. Team rosters along with proof of birth and residence, and verification of insurance certificate will be kept with team manager during participation in the tournament. It is the team

manager s responsibility to have this if a protest occurs. 7. Sunday playoffs, a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes, but a winner must be declared. No time limit on Championship Games. 8. Tie breaker for seeding purposes: *Win / Loss Record *Head to Head *Runs Allowed *Runs Scored *Coin Toss 8. A 15-minute grace period from set game time in your first game of the tournament only will be allowed. Any team not able to field an eight girl team in that allotted time will forfeit the game. Game time will be enforced for any subsequent games as seen fit by the umpire on the field. 9. All players MUST wear matching uniforms, with no duplicate numbers. In case of a player injury, (i.e. bleeding) said player will have reasonable time for repair (UMPIRES DISCRETION), and if not successful, said player will be removed from the game and not penalized. If a girl s uniform is bloodied, then different uniforms are permitted and proper care should be taken for proper disposal of bloodied garment. Tournament Rain Policy: The time limit continues to be in effect during a rain delay. (Time limit clock does not stop during the rain delay). a. If a game is interrupted at the end of an inning, and at least four innings have been played, and time has expired, the game will be declared complete. b. If a rain interruption occurs during an inning, and at least four innings have been completed and time has expired, the game will be declared complete and the score at the end of the previous inning will be the final score. c. If a rain interruption occurs at any time prior to the completion of three and a half innings, the game will resume at that point and continue until four innings have been played. The game will continue after four innings only if the time limit has not expired. d. Games subsequent to rain delay will remain at 6 innings and a 1 hour and 30 minute time limit (no new inning). If in the tournament director s opinion all games subsequent to the rain delay should be

shortened to 5 innings and a 1 hour and 15 minute time limit in order to complete the tournament on time, the games will be shortened. e. The above rule may be applied to any portion of the tournament. If the tournament returns back to schedule, games may return to the 6 inning 1 hour and 30 minute time limit (no new inning). This is all at the discretion of the tournament director. f. If the rain delay occurs on Sunday and it becomes impossible to complete the tournament, winners will be determined by the round robin tiebreaker rules if no games have been played. Otherwise, the 2 highest seeded teams will be declared the winners of the tournament. g. The tournament director does reserve the right to alter the tournament schedule and/or format in the event of prolonged or severe weather conditions. Ultimately, the objective of the rain policy is to be fair to all participants and give everyone the number of games they deserve. The tournament director will strive to be fair to everyone, however there may be unforeseen circumstances that a totally acceptable conclusion impossible to attain. REFUNDS If the tournament is shortened due to weather, teams will be entitled to a partial refund based on number of games each team plays. Teams will be notified by e-mail if this occurs. For example, if no games are played the team will be refunded entire fee minus $50.00; if one game is played, the refund will be 50%; 2 games played, no refund will be made. Hotel Information: The Taunton Holiday Inn is offering special rates for teams traveling to any of the TGSL sponsored tournament for the summer of 2013 All Taunton Girls Softball League Tournaments in June & July qualify for a special reduced rate. SOFTBALL COMPLEX If you are using a GPS, the address is 500 Norton Ave. Taunton, MA FROM THE NORTH RT. 24 or 495: Take RT. 24 South to RT. 495 North to Exit 9 - Bay Street Go LEFT off the exit to Industrial Park Road on RIGHT. Industrial Park Road becomes Myles Standish Blvd. Go approx. 2 miles to Crane Ave South. on LEFT. Follow to the end. LEFT onto Norton Ave. Softball fields are on the RIGHT. FROM THE SOUTH RT 24: RT. 24 NORTH TO RT. 495 NORTH (TAUNTON) To exit 9 Bay Street Go LEFT off the exit to Industrial Park Road on RIGHT. Industrial Park Road becomes Myles Standish Blvd. Go approx. 2 miles to Crane Ave South. on LEFT. Follow to the end. LEFT onto Norton Ave. Softball fields are on the RIGHT. FROM THE SOUTH RT. 44: Take RT. 44 EAST past the American Auto Auction and pass Taunton Ten Pin Bowling Lanes. Approximatey 1-1/2 miles on your LEFT is Dunkin Donuts at the yellow flashing light, take a LEFT onto North Walker St. Follow until you pass the fire station and the elementary school on your LEFT. Take first RIGHT onto Glebe Street and follow to end to Rt 140/Tremont Street (Oakland Variety is on the left). Take a right onto Tremont Street. Take 2 nd LEFT onto Norton Ave. Continue on Norton Ave past the Taunton Nursing Home on left. The complex is 100 yards on the LEFT.
