Grenier has been named the 2018 recipient of the Brooks Wallace Award as the top college shortstop in the country...the Brooks Wallace Award is given by the College Baseball Foundation to the best college baseball shortstop of the year and has been given annually since 2004... From 2004-08, the award recognized the national player of the year...in 2009, the award was changed to include only shortstops...it is named after former Texas Tech shortstop (1977-80) and assistant coach Brooks Wallace, who passed away in 1985 at age 27 after a battle with leukemia...recent winners of the award include INF Alex Bregman (2013, LSU), INF Trea Turner (2014, North Carolina State), and INF Dansby Swanson (2015, Vanderbilt).
