Applications for serving as a host family can be found on the website under Global Education https://www.states4hexchange.org/apply/host/ The requirements are that you have a host sibling within 2 years the age of the Japanese delegate and same gender. They must have their own bed (can share a room). We prefer that they have a USA family experience rather than vacation/travel experience just what your family would be doing at home during the time they are here. Their English skills are limited but there are many ways to communicate other than just verbal. For older 4-H members, we have the Academic Year Long exchange these students arrive in late July/Early August from Japan, Korea and Eurasian countries to enroll as a Junior in our public high schools. Their English skills are very good and they are motivated to be a good ambassador for their country. Contact me if you would like more details on this opportunity. Mini-grant Opportunity Focused on Creating Pollinator Habitat Through a partnership with GROWMARK cooperative, Missouri 4-H is able to offer a minigrant opportunity focusing on the creation of pollinator habitat. Honeybees and other pollinators play an important role in the agricultural ecosystem. These same pollinators are under stress from a number of factors: pests, disease, lack of habitat, and more. Your club can do its part to help sustain and increase Monarch and honeybee populations by participating in the GROW- MARK Pollinator Program to promote pollinator health! For more information, please visit http://4h.missouri.edu/monarchs/main. The online application (www.bit.ly/20174hpollinator) is due by March 31, 2017. 4-H Move Across Missouri (MOVE) Alison Copeland MOVE is back for 2017! And, youth and adults can register for it on 4HOnline!! Enrollment for new and re-enrollment for current MOVErs begins now and continues until May 1 (please make sure to register by May 1 so you can participate in the competition!). As you know, MOVE promotes physical activity and encourages youths to engage in a broad range of activities such as walking, biking, running, swimming, dance, taekwondo, gardening and more. Here s what youth and adults need to do to participate: Enroll in the Move Across Missouri (MOVE) project (HF775) in 4HOnline in their profile. Enrollment in 4-H MOVE does not count as a part of county limits on projects. Using a paper tracking system found on the 4-H website at: http://4h.missouri.edu/4hmove/moveinfo, youth and their families can log the number of minutes they accumulate throughout the year and during the competitive component of the MOVE program (scroll to the bottom of the website page and click My Move Activity Log ). Record keeping through the paper tracking system is important because the competition period will be from February 1 to April 30. Youth and families will submit their total number of minutes logged and activities (basketball, running, chores, etc.) throughout the 12-week competitive period between May 1-15 in 4HOnline. 4-Hers and adults can register for the competitive event as individuals and/or as part of a team. An individual MOVEr may also be a part of a team. A team can consist of a family or members of a 4-H club or group. MOVE awards will be provided. For more information about 4-H MOVE visit - http://4h.missouri.edu/4hmove/main If your region is hosting a regional energizer between now and March and you want to have a MOVE kick off contact Alison Copeland.
