THE IMPACT Our mission is simple, but incredibly powerful. We provide quality developmental programs that empower Metro Atlanta youth, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to become productive adults. Since 1938, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) has been at the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. BGCMA is dedicated to ensuring that our community s young people, who are most in need of our help, have greater access to quality programs and services that provide promise, hope and opportunities to ensure they may become productive adults. Our trained and dedicated staff members implement proven youth development strategies and create a stable, supportive and promising environment for Atlanta area youth. The organization provides diverse activities, called Core Programs, to meet the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interests of all Club members. Proceeds from the Celebrity Golf Classic will support the core programming in DeKalb and Gwinnett County Boys & Girls Clubs. Programming focuses on three core areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles & Good Character & Citizenship. About Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Average of 3,000 youth per day, ages 6-18. 84% are economically disadvantaged, 65% live in single-parent households and 80% of our kids are Minorities. The annual cost to provide services is approximately $4,000 per member, but membership fees are just $35 and scholarships are available for those who need assistance. THE VENUE & PLAYING FORMAT Château Élan Golf Golfing at Château Élan is by no means an ordinary experience. The 3,500 acre leisure & conference destination is centered around golf, a spa, wine, distinctive dining and the fine amenities of life. With golf on three championship layouts augmented by lush vineyards and a 16th-century French-style château, this golf destination in the foothills of the Northeast Georgia mountains is exceptional and the South s best golf offering assembled on one piece of property. There is also a beautiful nine hole, 1,100 yard Executive Walking Course with undulating greens, small bunkers and small ponds, perfect for those who want to sharpen their iron game or do not have time for a full-round. Château Élan features two public 18-hole championship golf courses, a public Par-3 9 hole course, and The Legends, a private golf club. The Legends Course (18 Hole, Private) Unique by design, The Legends at Château Élan is crafted from the worldly experience of three great champions: Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, and Kathy Whitworth. Each was asked to select six of their all-time favorite holes, and the result is a classic 18, bearing certain design elements from the legends' selections. The Woodlands Course (18 Hole, Public) The Woodlands, also designed by Griffiths opened in 1996. Many consider this course to be the most picturesque of the three championship layouts. The stunning 6,735 yard, par 72 course has numerous elevations presenting memorable views of sparkling lakes and tree-lined holes to give players a blissful feeling of solitude. The Château Course (18 Hole, Public) This beautiful championship course with contoured fairways, thick Bermuda roughs, and strategically placed lakes and ponds opened in July 1989. Built on 170 acres of the finest terrain, the 7,030 yard layout of the Chateau Course, designed by Denis Griffiths, plays to a par 71. Winding along three lakes and two creeks, water comes into play on ten of the eighteen holes while 87 bunkers give definition and character to the course. The playing format will be Lauderdale (often referred to as a Scramble), played in teams of four players. Under this format each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed. There will be no handicaps used.
