Date: 11 and 12 June 2016 Story Theme: Special Father s Day Program Be A Sporting Dad Learning Objectives There are two objectives to achieve for this weekend Father s Day Program. 1) Through the playing of games, the children will have fun with their FCBC Fathers and win together with them as a team. This will help to create father and child bonding 2) FCBC Fathers will bless their child with a word of affirmation. Child will give father a hug and a craft medal as an act of love. 3) FCBC Fathers are encouraged to invite pre-believing father friends and their toddlers to join in this special Father s Day program. Biblical Learning Objective for Children To teach the children that their fathers are a gift from God to play, protect and provide for them. Manpower The leaders and MPC couples serving in the respective services will be assigned with children who do not have their fathers with them. The scan in leader will tag the father and child team in ascending order, eg. Team 1, Team 2, etc. For the rest of the children who are not teamed with their fathers but with GKidz leaders or MPC couples, they will follow their usual small group leaders. Program Schedule (120 min) a. Keeping scores is optional (10 min) i. Issue of ii. Location of the various sports stations. iii. Time allotted for the father and child teams to complete all the sports stations. iv. 6 Sports Stations (80 min) The 6 stations will NOT be manned by a station master. Each sports station will have the logistics placed in the respective sports station locations as indicated in the The father and child teams are free to start at any sports station. For teams which are led by GKidz leaders, TLs will brief on the station rotation system. The 6 stations are: Sports Station #1 Slide and Strike Sports Station #2 Kick it Right Sports Station #3 Balloon Rocket Sports Station #4 Ping Pong Drop Sports Station #5 Tunnel Puzzle Sports Station #6 Bin the Bean S/N Station Logistics Requirement Instructions 1 Slide and Strike Two Bowling Balls Six Bowling Pins One foldable GS table One playground slide (Whizkid outdoor playground) TC Outdoor (playground slide) Game is similar to a normal bowling game. Instead of rolling the bowling ball on the flat ground, the bowling ball would be rolled down from a slope, created by the GS table or playground slide (Whizkid) Leader will stand at the starting line and pass the bowling ball to the child. Leader will arrange the bowling pins after being knocked down. Father and Child will queue up at the starting line. Child will roll the bowling ball down the slope, aiming at the bowling pins. Father to assist if child is unable to do so. Each child will get to roll the ball twice. High five the child when they are able to hit the ball. 2 Kick it Right Two cones One soccer ball Suntec Outside Room 330 TC Outdoor (along NTUC walkway facing Whizkid entrance Leader will stand at the starting line. Two cones will form the goal posts. The gap between the cones can be varied according to the age group of the child. Father will have 1 minute to coach their child on how to kick the soccer ball properly so that it can go into the goal They can demonstrate how to do it. Once coaching is finish, the child will stand on the starting line and try to kick the soccer ball into the goal. Every goal is one point. Every child will have 3 tries or kicks Leader will write the final score on the Sport Card (optional) 3 Balloon Rocket One rocket balloon for each team (balloon is to be recycled to the next service) One balloon pump Masking tape on the floor to mark out the distance and score Suntec Outside Room 330 TC Outdoor (grass patch downstairs, near entrance of Whizkid Game needs to be played in a long hallway. Leader will provide the balloon and pump to the father. Father will pump up the balloon to as long as he wants. Father will pass the inflated balloon to the child Child will stand at the starting line and release the balloon. The further the balloon fly, the more points the team will get. Each team will have 2 tries to get the best score. Record the distance based on footsteps. Leader will write the score on the Sport Card (optional). 4 Ping Pong Drop One A4 Paper Box Lid with one cut out hole in the middle One clear folder sleeve taped under the hole 10 ping pong balls Create two sets in total TC Room 2 Whizkid Game is the same activity we play during tumbler time. 10 ping pong balls will be placed into the A4 Paper Box. Child will try to manipulate the ping pong balls into the hole. Father will do the same. Can have two families compete to increase the excitement. (optional) Alternative is to set a best timing for the teams to try to beat. 5 Tunnel Puzzle One tunnel One box of puzzle 5-8 pieces TC Open Space Whizkid Leader will write the completion times on the Sports Card (optional). Leader will stand at one end of the tunnel and keep time Another Leader will stand at the other end with the puzzle pieces placed on the floor Child will crawl through the tunnel to get one puzzle piece and crawl back to the Father. Child will repeat the process until all puzzle pieces are retrieved Father and child will fix the puzzle pieces at the end. Time will stop when the puzzle is fixed. 6 Bin the Bag 2 pails of large size 2 pails of small size 5 bean bags Leader will write the completion times on the Sports Card (optional). Leader will stand at the starting line with the 5 bean bags. Leader will position the pails at varying distances (preparation before game). TC Store Room Whizkid The pails of small size will be placed further away from the starting line. Father and child will be handed the 5 bean bags. Each one must throw at least 2 bean bags. Every bean bag thrown into the large sized pail will get one point. Every bean bag thrown into the small sized pail will get 3 points. Leader will write the final score will be written on the Sports Card (optional). d. Presentation of Father Day s Medal and Recitation of Words of Affirmation (20min) Buffer activity 2 Craft activity Make a Father s Day Medal. For the teams that have completed the sports stations early, let the children have toilet and water break. Selfie taking with the photo frame (provided). i. After all children have completed the medal craft, get the fathers to come on stage with their child and present the father s medal to the fathers. For the other children whose fathers are not present, the leaders will pretend to be their fathers and have the children present to them. ii. After the medal presentation, the fathers to recite together with TLs the following words of affirmation by looking into their child s eye: My dear child (name), you are a winner. Daddy is proud of you. Daddy loves you. I am so happy that you are part of the (surname) family. Daddy will guide you and help you to fulfill the wonderful destiny that God has planned for you. iii Children to give their fathers a big hug to show their love and appreciation. Father s Day Medal Craft (10 min) Materials needed: 1. 2 pcs of flower card 2. 1m long ribbon (GKidz will provide) 3. Father s Day Sticker 4. Double sided tape Preparation: Completed craft Step 1 Step 2 Paste both flower cards together. Paste 2 strips of double sided tape on the reverse side of 1 of the flower cards. How you do: Step 1 Step 2 Leader to punch 1 hole at the top petal of the flower. Step 3 Distribute 1 father s day sticker to each child. Guide the child to paste on the flower card. Step 4 Tie the ribbon around the father s / leader s neck and adjust the length before tying the loose ends with a knot. Attach the ribbon through the hole and tie a knot at the hole to secure the ribbon. Step 5 Write the name of the child at the back of the completed craft.
