Kevan's Corner The year is coming to an end as well as my term as Chairman. I have enjoyed the position and meeting the new members as they have come as well as seeing long time members who rarely miss a meeting. This year has had its fair share of ups and downs. The fires that ravaged our city and so many lives left an indelible mark. The club is still strong and it is nice to feel the strength of the club at meetings and events. I know we are still anxiously awaiting word for our autocross site and as the information comes to us I will make sure to let the club know. The airport has been rather busy this last month but December is upon us so our meeting should be happening soon. The ESCA Christmas party will be here before I know it and I look forward to seeing all of you. Thank you all for making the Chairman position an enjoyable place to be on those Tuesday nights. Christmas Party Slide Show December 17, 2017 If you have never been to an ESCA Christmas Party before you have been missing out on a really fun event. Remember to bring an unwrapped toy to take to the fire department after the party. The party has members in their holiday best who cheer as autocross awards are collected. Also, Raffle tickets will be available to those who bring a raffle prize. And, there again will be a slide show of the year's events. If you came to any of the many ESCA events, then there is a very good chance that there is a picture of you or your car in the show. The annual slide show, was started long ago by former ESCA member, Bill Diekmann. And, has been carried on by Bob Jenkins. It will highlight all events the club presented in 2017, plus a couple of events from the end of 2016 (Go- Kart and Christmas Party). 2017 events are Autocross cars in action, and workers in the field (which is Dan Clary s favorite part), the annual Birthday Picnic, the Go-Kart races at Driven Raceway, the April Fools Rallye with lots of pretty cars, checkpoint workers, and award winners. And, photos of the Tours to different places day and night, near and far. Page 2 Fire T-Shirt Advanced Reproduction Center (ARC) the company that has been printing the ESCA Pit Stop for many years has a T-shirt and stickers for sale and 100% of the profits go to the fire relief efforts. The shirts are white or black t-shirts with design on the card below. Part 1 of the Winter Go-kart Series! By Matt Rios Hello ESCA! On November 14, about 13 ESCA members attended the first event of the 4 part winter go kart series held at Driven Raceway. We gathered at the Rohnert Park location of Driven Raceway at 6:30 pm. After registering we waiting for our first race. In the meantime we caught up with one another, most of whom haven t seen each other since the final autocross of the 2017 season. At each event there is 3 races; practice, qualifying, and finally the championship race. Practice gave everyone a chance to get used to the karts and try a few different lines without worry. The Qualifying race meant it was time to prove yourself. In order to make it to the championship race you would have to place within the top 7, I qualified 4th. The championship was split into a slow group and a fast group. I ended up winning the fast group with a time of 16.655 with the second place driver behind me with a 16.662. With only a tenth of a second difference between 1st and 2nd go-karting can get very competitive. All in all the winter go kart series is awesome. It can turn a what would usually be, boring Tuesday night into an adrenaline fueled night of go-karting. This series will continue on December 12th, same location, same time (check December s Pit Stop to confirm). This event is not limited to members so feel free to bring a friend. This is the perfect opportunity to get your racing fix in because there won t be anymore autocross this year. Page 5

Cars & Coffee at Coddingtown The October Cars and Coffee at Coddingtown was the smallest that I have seen this year and yet there were several nice cars for a car guy to check out. An AMG 6.3 Mecerades, two nice Chevy & Ford pickups, a Cougar XR7 convertable, a Porsche 911, A Chevelle Super Sport, and a new Mustang 5.0. the next Coddingtown Cars and Coffee is December 12 th. Check out the pictures from the October Cars & Coffee at: https://photos.app.goo.gl/esvila0lrsctapi02 Long Ago in Pit Stop December 1987 By Bob Jenkins On the front page was a drawing by ESCA member Gary O Connor, done in 1982. A column entitled b b shots by Chairman Bob Jenkins, talked about the past year and all the great events. There were two club events with the North Bay Corvettes, two open autocross events at the Santa Rosa Vets Building parking lot, the 22 nd April Fools Rallye that was named Rallye of the Year in 1986, and once again the 1987 April Fools Rallye was our only rallye. There were two eating tours, a jaunt up to Boonville, and the big California V, four day camping tour. A member was chairman of the Sports Car Olympics, and ESCA put on thevariety Rallye and the Funkhana. Four members were also in a car commercial, working a rallye checkpoint. There was an article entitled Date Line: The North Pole stating the Annual ESCA Christmas Party was to be a first ever Friday night affair at the Oakmont Inn, with dinner, dancing to a D J, door prizes, and a slide show. A membership list showed 57 members, of which 15 are still members. Northwest Hill Climb Association (541) 772-7314 www.nhahillclimb.org Page 7
