1. Eligibility and Participatin: 1.1. All Law Clleges and Law Schls recgnized by the Bar Cuncil f India are eligible t participate in the cmpetitin. 1.2. The team shall cmprise f tw mters and tw researchers, all f whm shall be regular bnafide students f the institutin. Only students frm amngst the under graduate five year integrated L.L.B. degree and three year Degree law prgrammes are eligible. Students pursuing Master s Degree in Law r any pst graduate degree in Law are nt eligible t be team members. Only ONE team frm each Law Cllege/Schl shall be permitted t register. 1.3. Invitatin fr the cmpetitin shall be subject t a maximum participatin f 32 teams n an eliminatin based n the memrials. 1.4. Accmmdatin shall be prvided fr 3 rd Nvember, 4 th Nvember, 5 th Nvember and 6 th Nvember, 2016. Accmmdatin and Certificatin shall NOT be prvided t a fifth team member. Teams are requested t arrive in GOA by mrning n 3 rd Nvember 2016. The rientatin sessin fr Lex Omnia will be cnducted at 6 P.M. n the 3 rd f Nvember, 2016. 1.5. A mail is t be sent t the crdinatrs f Lex Omnia 2016 at bhavya@bits-waves.rg t cnfirm the status f participatin f the cllege, befre sending the registratin frm by pst. 1.6. A Team Registratin Fee f Rs. 500 (Rs. 500 apart frm the Individual event registratin fee, which is Rs. 2000 per persn) is payable alng with the attached Registratin Frm. The Registratin Fee shuld be in the frm f a Demand Draft in the name f Directr-BITS Pilani KK Birla Ga Campus payable at SBI BITS Pilani Ga Branch. 1.7. The duly cmpleted Registratin Frm (alng with the Demand Draft) must be sent latest by 1 st Octber 2016 at the fllwing pstal address: Rujuta Kelkar Rm n. 201, CH-4 BITS Pilani Ga Campus, Zuarinagar Vasc 403726. 2

N change in the names f the participants shall be permitted after the receipt f the Registratin Frm, except at the sle discretin f the Organizers. 1.9. The tw designated mters shall be the speakers and shall put frth ral arguments in the cmpetitin and the researchers shall nt be permitted t put frth ral arguments. 1.10. The dress cde fr the participants during the runds f the cmpetitin as well as ther functins f the Cmpetitins shall be western frmals fr gentlemen and western r Indian frmals fr ladies. 1.11. Each team shall be prvided a Team Cde and the same must be used fr all purpses during the cmpetitin. 2. Memrial Requirements and Evaluatin 2.1. Each participating team shall prepare written arguments (memrials) n bth sides Claimant and Respndent f the mt prblem. 2.2. The memrials shall have a sft cver and must be firmly stapled and firmly taped. The memrials shuld nt have spiral binding. 2.3. The cver page f the Memrial must fllw the clur scheme: Blue fr the Claimant cver page Red fr the Respndent cver page 2.4. All memrials shall be in the English language and cmpulsrily cntain the fllwing requirements: A memrial shall be printed n ne side f the A4 size page nly. The text fnt fr the main bdy shall be 12, Times New Rman with fnt spacing f 1.5 and text fnt fr the ftntes shall be 10, Times New Rman with fnt spacing f 1.0. The margins shall be 1.5 inch n the left side and 1.0 inch n ther sides. The character spacing shuld be nrmal and neither expanded nr cndensed. The memrial shall cntain the fllwing: a. Cver Page b. Cnclusin/Prayer fr Relief; The Arguments Advanced shuld nt be mre than 3500 wrds. The memrial shall nt cntain any Annexure / Phtgraphs / Sketches / Exhibits / Affidavit etc. The participating team shall nt disclse their identity in any way whatsever in the memrial. Any vilatin f this clause will lead t disqualificatin. All participants must bring 5 cpies f bth claimant and respndent fr the rientatin n Day 0. All teams must mail a sft cpy f the memrial t bhavya@bits-waves.rg in PDF Frmat abve latest by 5 th Octber 2015 [5:00 p.m. IST]. Delay in the submissin f memrials will attract a penalty f 2 marks per day up-till a perid f ne week (7 days). A delay beynd the stipulated 7 days, will make the team ineligible the Best Memrial award. Memrial will be evaluated fr the ttal f 100 marks as under by a team f judges: S.N Marking Criteria 1. Cherent and lgical written arguments advanced 20 5. Lgical use f case law 20 6. Legality f Reliefs prayed fr 10 Ttal 100 Memrial marks will be used nly fr memrial prizes. Hwever, in case f a tie in ral rund rankings, memrial evaluatin will be cnsidered t identify the higher rank. 4
There will be n exchange f memrials between the team prir t the cmpetitin. The same will be dne prir t the ral runds amngst the cmpeting teams as explained in the rientatin prgram. The teams will be assigned their respective sides thrugh a draw f lts. After the cmpletin f the Cmpetitin, the Organizers shall reserve the right t use the memrials submitted by the participating teams, as they may deem apprpriate. 3. Cnduct f ral arguments and Cmpetitin Prcedure: 3.1. The cmpetitin shall cnsist f Preliminary Rund and Advanced Runds. 3.2. Details f marking scheme fr the ral runds will be prvided in the Orientatin sessin t be cnducted n Day 0. 3.3. Each team shall cmpulsrily present ral arguments fr bth sides Claimant and Respndent in the preliminary runds, in accrdance with lts chsen by the representative f the team at the Orientatin Sessin. 3.4. Each ral rund shall cnsist f 90 minutes f arguments. The argument shall be in English language. The Claimant and the respndent shall be alltted 45 minutes each including time fr rebuttal/surrebuttal, distributed between each f the tw mters. The rebuttal/surrebuttal has t be dne by ne mter nly and it cannt be claimed as a matter f right. 3.5. The Advanced Runds shall cnsist f tw knck ut runds, viz. Fur Quarter-Finals and Tw Semi-Finals. 3.6. The Final Rund shall determine the winner and the runners up. a. In rder t qualify fr quarter final runds the tp eight teams based n ral runds will be selected, prvided the team has wn bth preliminary runds; b. In case there are less than eight teams having wn bth preliminary runds then the team with highest marks with win in either preliminary rund will be cnsidered. c. In case f a tie, memrial marks will be cnsidered. d. The scheme fr alltting claimant and respndent in the quarter finals rund will be as under fr the fllwing rankings: i. 1st (Claimant) v. 8th (Respndent) ii. 2nd (Claimant) v. 7th (Respndent) iii. 3rd (Claimant) v. 6th (Respndent) 5
iv. 4th (Claimant) v. 5th (Respndent) 4. Miscellaneus e. Winners in the quarter final runds will be qualified fr the semifinal runds and alltted claimant and respndent as per the fllwing rankings: i. 1st (Claimant) v. 4th (Respndent) ii. 2nd (Claimant) v. 3rd (Respndent) f. The final rund will cmprise f the winners f the tw semifinal runds and claimant and respndent side will be decided by lts. 4.1. N member f any team r any individual cnnected with any team will be permitted t hear the arguments in any curt rm in which that team is nt ne f the cntesting teams whilst that team is still in the cmpetitin. The Organizers shall take strict actin, including disqualificatin frm the cmpetitin, against any team fund t be scuting thrugh a team member r thrugh any ther means. 4.2. All Participants are expected t maintain decrum in Curt during the runds f the cmpetitin and are expected t cnduct themselves in a manner befitting the legal prfessin. 4.3. The Organizers reserve the right t take apprpriate actin fr any unethical, unprfessinal and immral cnduct. 4.4. The Organizers decisin as regards the interpretatin f rules r any ther matter related t the cmpetitin will be final. 4.5. If there is any situatin which is nt cntemplated in the rules, the Organizers decisin n the same shall be final. 4.6. The Organizers reserve the right t vary, alter, mdify, r repeal any f the abve rules if s required and as they may deem apprpriate. 5. Requests fr interpretatin f the case study and the Rules f the cmpetitin: 5.1. All the requests fr interpretatin f the case study and rules f the cmpetitin must be directed t the Chief Crdinatr, Lex Omnia 2016. The last date fr seeking all clarificatins is 3 rd Octber 2016. 5.2. All such requests must be sent via an email t bhavya@bits-waves.rg, with the subject f the email as REQUEST FOR INTERPRETATION 6
