If each member volunteers for one event per year, we can continue to grow as a club, put on more events, and be proud to represent our community as Eagles. Contact anyone on the board for more information regarding helping at events. We are still looking for someone to fill the Aerie Treasurer role, which can be a male or female. Events for November/ December Please consider helping with our food events. We need help preparing, cooking and serving food and clean-up. Sign-up sheets are in the Bar. Optimist Flags November 11 Veteran s Day Volunteers are needed on Saturday, November 11 at 6:30 AM to put the large flags up around the Asbury Community. Volunteers are again needed on Sunday, November 12, at 2:30 PM to take the flags down. Please report to the Asbury Eagles Club Burger Nights 5-8 PM November 2, High School Hockey November 16 Labor Harvest Burger Nights includes a burger with your choice of toppings, a brat or a hot dog, French fries, salad bar, baked beans and a dessert. Cost Adults $8.00, Kids 10 and Under $5.00 Pizza Night 5-8 PM November 9 Large Pizza- $13.00, Large pizza with 4 or more toppings,$15.00, Small pizza-$8.00, small pizza with 4 or more toppings, $9.00. $1.00 is added to all carry-outs. Call 563 588 4458. Toppings include: beef, sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, onions, mushrooms, green/black olives, green peppers, and sauerkraut. All pizza nights benefit club activities. 2
Sundays, Breakfast Buffets 8 AM 12 PM November 19 Charity Breakfast and Auxiliary Bake Sale December 10 Breakfast with Santa Breakfast Buffets include: scrambled eggs, hash browns, ham, pork links/patties, bacon, toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, milk, juice and coffee. Cost: Adults-$8.00, Kids 10 and under $4.00 At the November breakfast, the Auxiliary will be sponsoring a Bake sale with the profits going to the State Eagles Charity ChildServe. In December, remember to bring your camera and get a picture of your favorite someone with Santa. 3
Catering Function Volunteers Needed Please sign-up at the club if you are interested in helping with upcoming banquet functions. We need help bartending (must be club qualified to bartend) Banquet room on the hall side will be available for renting. Rates are based on whether the person renting it is an Asbury Eagles Club member or not. Rooms must be cleaned up after event by renting group. Cheryl Neyens has returned as Banquet Coordinator Contact her at 563 543 3866 for more information or for booking the rooms. Remember to book your party soon! We are booking up quickly! The Asbury Eagles Club is a great place for Holiday, Graduation, Anniversary, Birthday parties, Baby, Wedding Showers and Receptions, Retirement parties, Family Reunions. Ad Space Available If you are interested in placing your ad in the Asbury Eagles Club newsletter, please contact Pat Ready Sr. at prsr@mchsi.com. Ads are renewable every January Direct TV Package/ TV Giveaway Again this year, we will have the Direct TV NFL package, so stop in and watch your favorite team continue their march to the Super Bowl. There will be food to purchase. Again this year, we will be giving away a prize at the end of the football season. To be eligible, you need to buy any beverage during the SUNDAY ONLY NFL games. Ten names will be drawn every Tuesday and posted on the white board at the Club. Come and join us on Sunday and cheer for your favorite team! 4
News from the Joint Meeting- Burger Night Monies- The Mud Puppies- received a check for $1400 Bell Tower Theatre received a check for $1800 the money will be used for the children s Summer production. Hempstead Band received $2000. The money will be used for new uniforms, hats and plumes. Angel of Hope received $800. The money will be used for the angel statue and installation of the statue in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West. The Angel of Hope is for parents who have lost children. CAPABLE received $1100. CAPABLE works with physically and mentally disabled persons. The money will be used for expenses for their Day of Giving. Starting the 1 st of January, due to the rising cost of food, Burger night costs will going up $1.00. Burger Nights- Adults $9.00 Kids 10 and under will remain at $5.00. Prize Awards for the Chili Cook off were 1 st Place $25, 2 nd place $15 and 3 rd Place $10 in Eagle Bucks Prize Awards for the Asbury Eagles Club Halloween Costume Contest were 1 st Place $50, 2 nd Place $25, and 3 rd Place $15 in Eagle Bucks. The Aerie and the Auxiliary both voted to donate $250 each to the Whispering Hope Pet Rescue. Two $10 Eagle Gift cards were donated to the John Friedmann Bass Tournament. Auxiliary News The Auxiliary hosted an Iowa Wine Tour to The Park Farm, Promise Land and the Eagles Landing Wineries. The Auxiliary hosted a Chili Cook Off and Vendor Fair on October 21 from 12-4 PM. Profits from the Chili Cook Off and Vendor Fair were split between the Donna Ginter Thanksgiving Dinner and the St. Vincent Food Bank. November 19 Charity Breakfast Buffet and Bake Sale This year's charity is Childserve. ChildServe improves the health and well-being of over 4,200 children each year through specialized clinical, home, and community-based programs and services. They serve children with developmental delays, disabilities, acquired injuries, and other special healthcare needs. Monies from the Charity event will go towards renovating the autistic children's playground at their center in Ames Anyone donating baked goods for the Bake Sale should bring their donations to the Club after 4 PM on Saturday, November 18 and put the items in the kitchen. There will be a party in the Banquet Room that night. After the Auxiliary Meeting on December 4, the Auxiliary will hold their annual Christmas party. Everyone please bring a snack/ appetizer to share. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a new wrapped gift (value $20).
