Steak sandwich, salads, sautéed mushrooms/onions Cost $8.00 Asbury Eagles Present Flags to Asbury City Council The Asbury Eagles presented the American Flags to the Asbury City Council at their May 23 Council Meeting. Those presenting the flags were Ryan and Joe Small and Tom and Kathy ONeill. Optimist Flags July 4 th Volunteers are needed on Monday, July 3 at 6:30 AM to put the large flags up around the Asbury Community. Volunteers are again needed on Wednesday, July 5 at 6:30 PM to take the flags down Please report to the Asbury Eagles Club 2

Catering Function Volunteers Needed Please sign-up at the club if you are interested in helping with upcoming banquet functions. We need help bartending (must be club qualified to bartend) Banquet room on the hall side will be available for renting. Rates are based on whether the person renting it is an Asbury Eagles Club member or not. Rooms must be cleaned up after event by renting group. Cheryl Neyens has returned as Banquet Coordinator Contact her at 563 543 3866 for more information or for booking the rooms. Remember to book your party soon! We are booking up quickly! The Asbury Eagles Club is a great place for Holiday, Graduation, Anniversary, Birthday parties, Baby, Wedding Showers and Receptions, Retirement parties, Family Reunions. Ad Space Available If you are interested in placing your ad in the Asbury Eagles Club newsletter, please contact Pat Ready Sr. at prsr@mchsi.com. Ads are renewable every January. Asbury Eagles Club Scholarships This spring, the Scholarship Committee received 24 applications from seniors at the three Dubuque high schools. After much discussion, two students were selected by the committee. The recipients graduated in May (Wahlert) and June (Hempstead) and will each receive a $500 scholarship for college this fall. They were honored at our awards dinner on June 1. Anthony Ward graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School and will attend Iowa State University in Ames. Anthony plans to study Mechanical Engineering. Megan Gronau graduated from Stephen Hempstead High School and will attend Loras College in Dubuque. Megan plans to study Biology/PreMed. We congratulate these young leaders and thank them for making a difference in our community! 4

News from the Joint Meeting- Burger monies- Research for the Kids- $900 Money will go to the University of Iowa s Children s Hospital for the research for Brain and heart defects. Mud Puppies (Youth baseball organization)- $1400 Money will go for equipment and support for the kids on the teams. Bell Tower Theater- $1800 Money will be used to support the Summer Kids Theater (costumes, props and scripts, etc) There are presently 101 Auxiliary members and 187 Aerie members. No confetti will be able to be used in parties scheduled at the Asbury Eagles Club. The Aerie and Auxiliary each donated $100 each for the Asbury s Music in the Park Event. At the May 23 Asbury City Council meeting,the Asbury Eagles presented the city with the American Flags for the light poles lining Asbury Road in Asbury.. Thanks to Jim Steil, Joe Small, Wayne Frank and Carl McCarthy for making and putting the flags together. Nine more flags will be given to the city of Asbury to complete lining Asbury Road to Maple Hills. Bartenders are needed at the Asbury Eagles Club. If you are interested or know someone who is interested in bartending, please contact Ryan Small/rsmall17@gmail.com. New carpet has been installed in the Bar area. $1600 was donated to the State Charity, $500 to the Alzheimer s Fund, $500 to the Cancer Fund, $500 to the jimmy Durante Fund,$400 to the Diabetes Fund, $400 to the Heart Fund,$500 to the Kidney Fund and $800 to the Lew Reed Spinal fund. by the Asbury Eagles Club profits from the Breakfast Buffets for a total of $5200.. At the State Eagles Convention, Joe Small was inducted into the State Hall of Fame. Joe was nominated by Mike Duehr. Thank you to Tom Avenarius for hosting the past multiple Daytona 500 Parties honoring the veterans. 5

Auxiliary News $300 was presented to Mary Rossman.(Proceeds from the Christmas Basket) The money will be used for the materials to make fleece blankets for the pediatric patients at the University of Iowa Children s Hospital. The Auxiliary will purchase 2 roasters and 2 crock pots for the Club. The winner of the Mother s Day Basket was Shirley Ready. Proceeds of the raffle of the Mother s Day Basket will be going to Care Packages for our Troops. It was voted to have $500 dollars go to the Care Packages. The next meeting of the Auxiliary will be July 10 because of the July 4 th Holiday. Members will pack the Care Packages at our July 10 th meeting. We will be sending those packages to troops from the Dubuque County area.
