P a g e 2 T h e E a g l e T i m e s Back 2 the Basics with Hondo Brothers, Where did this last month go? I feel like I just wrote last month s newsletter! Where to start? Oshkosh is a good as any place to start the month out. Golf, thank you for all the hard work you all did to make that day happen. Great meals, all the volunteers that worked the course and the course itself I heard cut the Eagles a great deal to play out there. The hospitality was outstanding as usual. Great to see all the friendly faces and we made some money for the Esko Skeleton Charity. The next weekend we all were off to Sioux City to West Central Regional for more Eagles Training. I went up early to Vermillion SD so see the guys for West Central Regional battle the North Central Regional in another golf tournament. It was great to see all the Grand Aerie Officers that were attending the 2 events in a more unofficial capacity. The West Central Regional Team out of North Platte brought home the trophy and bragging rights I am sure. We all raised monies for out charities there also. By the time this is out we will have had the Triathlon in Norfolk and maybe the Western Zone in Kearney. I am still looking to schedule official visits with quote a few Aerie. Please contact me so we can get them scheduled. Gun Raffle Tickets. If you do not have a poster up in your Aerie and ticket to sell for the charity gun raffle please contact Kelly Davis 402-587-1456. I would encourage all of our members to get out and go to some of the gaming events we hold or the zone conferences, step out of the comfort zone, meet some new people and expand your horizons. We are so much bigger than the 4 walls with in your Aerie. Live a little on the edge. I know there is a lot of thing going on Bow Turkey, Bow Deer, and preparing for harvest right around the corner, please don t forget to drop down and support your Aerie when you get a chance. Till next month! Fraternally, David Hondo Locke State Worthy President

O c t o b e r 2 0 1 8 P a g e 3 Back 2 the Basics - Membership Hello again brothers, it s getting cooler out which means fall is quickly upon us. With fall and cooler weather brings football (GO BIG RED), school sports, along with Halloween and to many other things to mention that keep us all busy. Even though we re all busy we can t forget how important membership is and what it brings to our organization. In order to have People helping People we still need to bring more brothers into the Aerie. For this month we have had 55 new members and 44 re-enrollees. Top proposers for this month are: Larry Biss, Aerie 2839 with 7 ($75.00), Judd A Bietz, Aerie 3909 with 5 ($50.00) Richard R. Renfrow, Aerie 154 with 4 ($25.00). Good job brothers. Keep up the good work! Remember Back 2 The Basics! Tim Melvin Nebraska Aerie Membership Chairman Gun Bash For State Charity The Gun Bash is fast approaching do you have your tickets? Need tickets? Want to help sale tickets? Need not be present to win but we would love to see everyone there for the food, festivities, and winning!! Remember I am running a contest for the top 3 sellers and did I mention those prizes will be cold hard CASH, who wouldn't want to a little extra before the holidays. We have several events coming up in the next couple months that I will be bringing charity items for sale so please help support Cheri and Hondo's State Charity Project the Ekoskeleton. By now the majority of the clubs should have received your ammo boxes with a flyer about the charity please put this in a good place to increase awareness about the charity as well as donations, every dime, quarter, or dollar will help us reach our goal as we all work together. Reminder for those of you that purchased the green light bulbs please take a picture and send to Cheri so she can post our support. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, need any items, or have an upcoming event that you would like us to attend. Lady_Luck_7@hotmail.com See you all down the Eagle Trail Diane Wilken State Madam Conductor State Charity Chairman

P a g e 4 T h e E a g l e T i m e s Eagle Strong With Cheri Attention Soldiers, September is in the history books. On the 8 th I attempted to golf. My team was Hondo, Tim & Kim. We had a blast. So glad that Tim was on our team. Kept us going for sure. Thank you to all took a part in working or playing. The donation of $1678 from both the Aerie & Auxiliary was overwhelming. On the 10 th Hondo & I were asked to speak to the Fremont American Legion about the Exoskeleton. What an honor it was to speak to those men and women. The next weekend off to West Central Region Conference. If you have not been to one you really must come! WCR Presidents Bobbi & Larry did a great job! Our Grand Reps JPGWP Tom McGrath and GMIG Airline Giacomozzi. Thanks to the Nebraska & Iowa sisters and brother that participated in the IOWA vs NEBRASKA Feud. We had a blast and learned a lot. The following week was kind of scary. My youngest son Cody has a defibrillator attached to his heart. I want to report that he is doing very good right now. Thank God. Dropped in at Spa day on the 22 nd in Bellevue. To watch how their Aerie and Auxiliary work together was amazing. On the 29 th Columbus Auxiliary held their first I hope of many Scavenger Hunts. So proud of my Auxiliary for trying something new. Thanks to all of everyone s hard work. It was so nice that the Aerie made it Hondo s official visit too. Soldiers, I was interviewed by our Columbus Telegram the other day. She asked why join the Eagles and exactly what do they do? Ask yourself how would I answer that question? Recruit new soldiers. We need a full Eagle Strong Army to keep helping our Champions. Never give up the fight!! Remember that we are PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE and CHAMPIONS HELPING CHAMPIONS Stay Courageous, Cheri L. Bollig Colonel A.K.A. State Madam President

O c t o b e r 2 0 1 8 P a g e 5 Eagle Strong - REKOM Here it is the end of September and as some people say a quarter of the Eagle year is almost gone!! I know we all get tired of hearing that we need members to keep our great organization alive and well, but it's a simple fact if we don't recruit new soldiers we are going to end up MIA (MISSING IN ACTION).. Please make sure you have a membership chairman in place and encourage them to hold a membership drive. There are a lot of creative peeps out there and I know you can come up with something out of the box for membership. If it's successful share with us, if it isn't still share with us because we are all a part of this brigade to keep it marching on. We would like to congratulate Jan Aden from North Platte Auxiliary #2839 for winning the August drawing for the portfolio. Remember secretaries you need to report your recruiters by the last day of the month. If the last day of the month falls on the weekend we give you that Monday to report. Please keep up the recruiting and remember it takes every member to recruit one soldier to stay EAGLE STRONG! OAO (OVER AND OUT) LC Kim Williams Membership Chairperson Fraternal Order of Eagles Due to the unfortunate passing of Grand Trustee John Noldan, a vacancy was left in the Grand Aerie officer positions. P a g e 6 T h e E a g l e T i m e s Meet the State Officers Hello Brothers and Sisters, I was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and raised in a Military family. I came to Kearney, Nebraska in 1980 to attend college. Wound up staying in Kearney & raising a family. 2 boys, Luke and Blaine. Luke lives with his wife and twin children in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Blaine and wife live in Kearney, Nebraska with their two daughters, and Blaine s son lives in Omaha. I joined Ft. Kearney Aerie2722, 2012 and have found this to be my new found 2 nd Family. I have served on many local committee s, and served as several Officer positions in our local Aerie. Seeing what our F.O.E. family does, People Helping People intrigued me to become involved beyond the local Aerie. In 2017 I was the State Outside Guard, and in 2018 I became Trustee #4 for Our State Aerie. I enjoy motorcycling and Also serve as the Assistant State Coordinator for the Nebraska Eagle Riders. I the Assistant to Kim Triplett who is my significant other. Between Kim an I we have 7 grandchildren ranging from 16 to the age of 1 ½ years old. Kim s son Beau lives in Kearney, Ne, and has the oldest two grandchildren. What I have learned is the F.O.E. stands for Family and that is one of many reasons I continue to be part of a Great Organization. Thank all of you Brother s, and Sister s, for allowing me to be part of the F.O.E. Let s all Keep the F.O.E. Strong Scott Gronewoller State Trustee #4 Hello Brothers and Sisters, I joined the eagles in 2007, when my mom asked me to join and be the Chaplain at Kearney Auxiliary #2722. I enjoyed doing charity suppers and helping with other events. Since being at Holdrege #3132, I help with the Christmas party for the kids, Thanksgiving dinners and other events. My husband Larry was already an officer with the Aerie and we started going to different events around the state. In 2007 I went to my first National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. I am currently serving as the Chaplain at my local Auxiliary where my husband and I have members since 2014. I am your State Trustee #4. I work in Accounts Payable at Parker Corporation in Kearney. I have been married to Larry Mattson the State President Elect for 12 years. We have been together for 22 1/2 years. We have 5 children and 8 grandchildren. Veronica Mattson State Trustee #4
