Friend us at PW ColonialBaseball on Facebook. A Message from Coach Manero We hope you enjoyed the 2018 PWHS baseball season! The Colonials thank all of our fans for your support and hope that you continue following us throughout the offseason. So much goes into making the hopes of another baseball season a reality, and we owe thanks to those who have helped us this year. Our high school principal Dr. Jason Bacani and Athletic Director Mr. RJ Bretz are so instrumental The Power Alley Parents Club helps support PW Baseball Many of the efforts to help prepare for our 2018 season have come with the assistance of the Power Alley Parents Club. Formed in the winter of 2012, this organization of parent volunteers has become instrumental in helping to support the Colonials baseball program through fundraising and other organizational activities. Throughout this offseason, members of the club assisted in planning for our Basket Bingo Fundraiser and the fifth annual Fundraiser on Fayette, in supporting Colonial athletics. They are assisted by Mr. Paul Marro, Ms. Marianne Paparone, Mr. MJ Grourke, and athletics secretary Ms. Jen O Brien, who ensure that all runs smoothly throughout the season. At the district office, we thank Superintendent Dr. Michael Christian and the Colonial School Board for their commitment to valueadded programs such as athletics. both of which were huge successes in generating funds to help offset some of the many costs associated with running a high caliber high school baseball program. In addition to these events, the parents were instrumental in helping organize many team events throughout last season and this off-season, and in recruiting local businesses to advertise in this media guide. They were also instrumental in helping us plan our spring trip to Historic Dodgertown in Director of Operations Mr. Terry Yemm, Mr. Joe Lally, and Mr. Gene Kelly and his turf management crew make our fields game ready each day. Working together, Plymouth Whitemarsh is a strong community that works to provide great opportunities such as baseball for our students. Varsity Head Coach Vero Beach, Florida. Throughout the season, you will see members of the Club selling merchandise at our home games, as well as assisting at other team events and community functions. Their efforts are tireless and much appreciated by all of the players and coaches in our baseball program. We would especially like to thank Tina Chandler, Karen Bottinger, and Margie Tomassetti for stepping up in leadership roles with the Club this year!

COLONIALS BASEBALL 2018 2018 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH COLONIALS SEASON RECAP As with any baseball season, a new year brings new hopes, new goals, and new energy as players and the coaching staff look forward to what the coming months will bring. But, perhaps more than most years, 2018 brought extra excitement and anticipation for the Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials. The offseason was jam-packed with a very successful fall season for both our JV and Varsity teams in the Extra Bases Fall Baseball League. That led right into a very intense off season strength and conditioning program, and our indoor winter workouts at Ambler Sports Academy. In short, there was no lack of preparation up and down from our new freshmen all the way to our returning varsity players. Excitement continued to build when a warm January and February allowed us to give our new baseball complex a bit of a test drive as we headed into March. Premiering a new facility was on the minds of many, and in some ways signaled a new era of Colonials baseball. The days of being at the mercy of the weather became a thing of the past, and in a late winter that challenged most teams in the area more than perhaps any recent year, we were able to consistently get on the field and prepare for the start of league play. When the calendar turned to March, over 60 student athletes attended tryouts, showing that baseball is alive and well in the Plymouth, Whitemarsh, and Conshohocken communities. For the fourth consecutive season, the Colonials travelled to Vero Beach Florida to kick off the season. A week of sun, warmth, and pure baseball led to an opening day win and the start of a season that would come north with high expectations. When league play opened up with a varsity win over Upper Moreland, there was definitely a sentiment in the clubhouse that winning could be expected from this squad. A combination of deep pitching, a mix of seniors and underclassmen contributing significantly, and much improved infield defense was creating an early season recipe for success. By the end of the regular season, the Colonials were looking at an 11-8 overall record, an 8-6 Suburban One American Conference record, and a spot in the PIAA 6A playoffs. This represented a huge turnaround from a year before where a 6-14 overall record marked the season s end. While the postseason run was short, ending with a 5-3 loss at Avon Grove, the expectation of success was clearly set. Very successful seasons at the JV and Freshmen levels also show an indication of continued hope for the future and added building blocks for the program. As our players head into their summer seasons, the trajectory is up and the expectations will be high.
