A Few Kind Words A couple of weeks ago I said football was a funny game, but I m not sure I fi nd it all that funny at the moment... Last week saw us visit Otumoetai on a nice warm Autumn day. We had a few injury concerns but still put out a handy side on the pitch. But it was like Groundhog Day again and the same things kept happening. We didn t start overly well, luckily neither did Otumoetai. We should have taken the lead through a nice Sam Masterson strike which hit the crossbar and came back out, among a couple of other half chances. Then we concede and concede again, all before half time. The 2nd half was better but we didn t have enough quality to turn the game around. Young Nacho came on and added a bit of enthusiasm and desire that at times seemed to be lacking. This week we welcome Old Blues to the Domain in a rearranged fi xture due to the Chatham Cup. I see they have found a bit of form, started scoring and got a couple of wins so we know this is another big game that the players really have to be up for. The quality is in our squad to be getting results but in this league you have to be committed and put the hard yards in and at times we tend to switch off. That s when we get punished. It is nice to see some younger players starting to grow in confi dence. Young William at RB gets better each week. Sam played in midfi eld and looked very comfortable. Callum was thrust into an attacking role and Lawrence had a very good game leading the line against Tauranga. This pleases us greatly as we look forward for the club I am sure that we can get on a run shortly and soon as the post and crossbar get out of the way and one goes in the net early the confi dence will start to fl ow in this young side. Then we will start to climb the ladder. Plenty more hard work will be demanded this week in training and we will come out chasing goals and points every Saturday. Thanks for your continued support.
