Coming off an impressive road victory at Pittsburgh to start a four-game road swing, sixth-ranked Duke (5-0) will travel to Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, Nov. 27 for a 5:00 p.m., contest against Charlotte (3-1) at Halton Arena. Following the game against the 49ers, the Blue Devils will have one day before hitting the road for James Madison and Wisconsin before returning home. Charlotte enters Saturday s contest with a 3-1 overall record, after knocking off Hampton, 64-57, and Savannah State, 79-41, in the last two contests. The 49ers have been led by Shannon McCallum (14.3 points, 5.8 rebounds), Epiphany Woodson (11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds) and Kendria Holmes (9.5 points, 18 assists) on the season under head coach Karen Aston. So far this season, Charlotte is 3-0 at home. The Series With Charlotte... Duke and Charlotte will meet for the 10th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 6-3. The Blue Devils have won three in a row, but the two schools have met only three times since 1990. Duke s last loss against the A-10 was in 1996 when it fell, 48-54, to George Washington in the ACC Big Four Classic in Greensboro, N.C. Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes... Duke is getting very balanced scoring so far this season and is coming off notching six different players with double-fi gure points at Pittsburgh. Three different Blue Devils are averaging double-fi gure points -- Jasmine Thomas (15.2), Karima Christmas (10.2) and Haley Peters (10.0). The 5-0 record to start the year marks the second time Coach P has opened a season at Duke with fi ve consecutive wins. The other was in 2007-08 during her fi rst year, but lost the sixth contest. A victory on Saturday at Charlotte would give Coach P the best start by any of her teams over her 18 years as a head coach. Coach P has totaled an all-time record of 16-5 against Atlantic 10 teams -- Charlotte (2-0), Dayton (0-1), George Washington (0-2), Massachusetts (2-1), Rhode Island (5-1), St. Bonaventure (3-0) and Temple (4-0). Since opening the season with two points and eight rebounds against BYU, senior Krystal Thomas has averaged 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals over the last four games. She has hit 65.2 percent of her fi eld goals during that stretch. Thomas has scored 11 points in three of the four contests. Senior Karima Christmas leads Duke with 19 free throws made out of 23 attempts. Her 82.6 percentage is a team best. Playing in front of a large amount of family and friends at Pittsburgh, junior Shay Selby had a banner day with a career-high 15 points, four steals to match a career high, three rebounds and two assists in a season-high 23 minutes. She hit a career-high three treys on three attempts and hit 6-of-9 fi eld goals. Selby missed the fi rst two games due to a groin injury. She has hit all four of her three-point fi eld goal attempts this year. Phone interviews with out of town media can also be arranged. All interview requests should be made at least one day in advance and the best time for interviews is generally before or after practice. Blue Devil freshman Haley Peters continues to provide a big lift off the bench through fi ve games. Peters has notched double-fi gure scoring in three straight contests and during those games she averaged 13.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals. She has hit 18 of her last 28 shots for a 64.3 fi eld goal percentage. Versus Western Kentucky, she hit 8-of-11 fi eld goals, totaled a career-high 17 points, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot. In the last game, Peters scored all of her 12 points in the second half at Pittsburgh. On the Road Again... Duke is in the second of a four-game road trip, which started on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Pittsburgh. The Blue Devils will then take on Charlotte (Nov. 27), James Madison (Nov. 30) and Wisconsin (Dec. 2). When Duke

The four-game true road swing is only the second since 1988-89 and only the seventh in school history. The Blue Devils had a four-game road trip in 2005-06 where they won all four games against Maryland, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Holy Cross. Other years with four-game road trips were in 1986-87, 1982-83, 1981-82, 1980-81 and 1977-78. Hitting from the Field... Over the last three games, Duke is hitting 50.8 percent of its fi eld goals as the Blue Devils hit 50.0 percent at Auburn, 50.8 percent against Western Kentucky and 51.4 percent at Pittsburgh. In Coach P s four years at Duke, it marks the fi rst time the Blue Devils have hit 50.0 percent of their fi eld goals or better in three consecutive games. The last time Duke accomplished this was in 2006-07 against Michigan, Old Dominion and Rutgers. This also took place in November. The longest streak in recent history was eight consecutive 50.0 percent shooting or better in 2005-06 when the Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Final Four. Dishing the Rock... The one thing the Blue Devils had been missing to start the season was assists but that hasn t been the case the last two games. Versus Western Kentucky, Duke registered a season-high 23 dimes and then backed it up with 19 at Pittsburgh. Duke s 23 assists against Western Kentucky is tied for the third-most over the last three years -- N.C. Central (35), Providence (24), Western Kentucky (23) and Maine (23). McCallie notched her 400th victory on Monday, Nov. 15 against Southern California. In her 19-year coaching career, Coach P has totaled a 403-170 record. McCallie became the 43rd Division I coach to reach the 400-win mark. Off the Bench... After only netting 11 points off the bench against BYU, the Blue Devils responded with 34 points off the bench versus Southern California, 33 at Auburn, 37 points versus Western Kentucky and a season-high 44 at Pittsburgh. She hit a key three-pointer late in the Auburn contest as well as hitting 6-of-6 free throws in the second half on her way to scoring a career-high 13 points. Gray has hit a three-pointer in four straight games and her 11 assists is second on the Duke squad. Scheer Continues to Produce... Junior Kathleen Scheer notched her third double-fi gure scoring contest of the season at Pittsburgh on Wednesday and continues to provide solid play in the starting lineup. On the season, she is averaging 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and 0.8 steals. Scheer is hitting a team-best 63.6 percent from downtown and her 1.4 blocks per game is also a team best. In her three-year career, Scheer has totaled double-fi gure scoring in fi ve games with three of those coming this season. A product of New Haven, Mo., Scheer averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in two exhibition contests this year. Scheer saw limited action her fi rst two years with the Blue Devils playing in 51 games and averaging 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds. She was moved to the four position and has thrived ever since preseason. What Happened Last... Led by six players in double-fi gure scoring, the sixth-ranked Duke women s basketball team downed Pittsburgh, 93-55, on Wednesday in Pittsburgh, Pa. Playing in front of a large amount of family and friends, junior Shay Selby came off the bench to register a career-high 15 points, including 10 in the fi rst half. Duke scored a season-high 93 points, hit 50.0 percent or better from the fi eld for the third straight game and registered a season-high 44 points off the bench. The Blue Devils went on a 14-2 run beginning with 10:33 to play in the fi rst half and never led by less than seven the remainder of the contest. They routed Pitt 50-21 in the second half, closing the game on a 20-2 run over the fi nal 7:38. The Panthers (2-2) held a lead midway through the fi rst half and shot 60 percent before halftime but made only four of their fi rst 16 shots in the second half, shooting 8-for-22 in the second half in all. Jasmine Thomas had nine of her 16 points by halftime and played only 11 minutes in the second half. Taneisha Harrison led the Panthers with 16 points. Brittany Thomas added 12 points and Shayla Scott 10. Wells See s Game Action, Finally... After missing her senior campaign at A.B. Miller H.S., last year due to transfer rules, freshman Chloe Wells saw her fi rst real game-action since Feb. 26, 2009 on Nov. 13 against BYU. In the fi ve games so far, Wells has started all fi ve at point guard and is averaging 5.4 points, 1.8 assists and 2.4 steals. Her 12 steals ranks second on the Duke squad. Wells became the 18th freshman in Duke history to start her fi rst collegiate game and the fi rst since Abby Waner in 2005. In Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie s 18 years as a head coach, Wells is just the 12th freshman to start her fi rst game. Prior to the BYU game, the last contest for Wells was for Apex H.S., against Broughton in the second round of the NCHSAA 4-A playoffs. Apex lost to Broughton, 47-46, and Wells tallied a game-high 19 points. The Record Watch... Blue Devil senior Jasmine Thomas has a chance to put her name all over the Duke record book this season. Thomas is one three-pointer shy of moving into the top 10,she recently moved into 10th place on Duke s assist list, she is 19th on the points list and she needs one steal to move into eighth on the steals list. Fellow senior Krystal Thomas ranks sixth on the Duke career blocked shots chart with 140 swats. She needs nine to move into fi fth place. On This Date... Duke owns an all-time record of 9-1 in games played on Nov. 27 over the history of the program. Monique Currie scored 25 to lead the Blue Devils, earning MVP of the tournament. A Look at the Exhibition Games... In the two exhibition games for the Blue Devils, Duke won 88-44 against Wingate and downed Carson- Newman, 121-65. Senior Jasmine Thomas led all scorers with a 19.5 per game average, while dishing a team-best 11 assists. A total of six Blue Devils averaged double-fi gures -- Kathleen Scheer (16.5), Karima Christmas (14.0), Tricia Liston (12.5), Chloe Wells (12.0) and Krystal Thomas (11.5). McCallie registered 82 victories in her fi rst three years at Duke, which is the second-highest total for Division I head coaches in their fi rst three years at an institution. Thomas a National Player of the Year Candidate... Duke senior Jasmine Thomas has been named a candidate for the State Farm Wade Trophy, John R. Wooden Award and Naismith National Player of the Year awards. Thomas is coming off a junior campaign where she averaged 16.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals on the year, while leading Duke to its sixth ACC Championship and a share of the ACC Regular Season title. The 5-9 guard started all 36 contests and led the Blue Devils with 11 games with 20 or more points scored. A native of Fairfax, Va., Thomas was one of 12 fi nalists for the State Farm Wade Trophy, Naismith and John R. Thomas Selected Lowe s Candidate... Duke University All-America guard Jasmine Thomas has been selected one of 30 preseason candidates for the Lowe s Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classifi ed as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 fi nalists midway through the regular season, and those names will be placed on the offi cial ballot. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) released the preseason ACC women s basketball poll on Tuesday with Duke earning 24-of-33 fi rst-place votes on its way to being tabbed the favorite by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel, which consists of national and local media, as well as school representatives. It marks the fi rst time since 2005 the Blue Devils have been slated to capture the ACC title. The Blue Ribbon Panel also voted on a preseason All-ACC Team, Preseason Player of the Year and a Newcomer Watch List. Following Duke is North Carolina with six fi rst-place votes, Florida State, which received two fi rst-place votes, and Maryland. Georgia Tech was picked to fi nish fi fth, followed by N.C. It marks the second straight year the Blue Devils class has been listed No. 1 by at least one recruiting service. For the second straight year, Duke University has been selected one of 16 host sites for the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds, which will be played on Saturday, March 19 and Monday, March 21, 2011. Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie 4th Season at Duke 19th Year as Head Coach Accomplishments Led the Blue Devils to the 2010 ACC Championship, which marked the sixth overall conference title in school history. Became the fi rst Division I head coach to win a conference title in four different leagues - ACC, Big Ten, America EAST, North Atlantic. Is the fi rst Division I head coach to be named conference coach of the year in four different conferences. Led Duke to its eighth 30-win season out of the last 10 years. Became only the second Division I head coach to lead two different programs to 30-win seasons. Guided Duke to its 16th straight NCAA Tournament and an appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight. Became only the second Division I head coach to lead two different programs to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Led Duke to a 14-0 record at home in 2008-09, marking just the second time in school history the Blue Devils have gone undefeated in Cameron Indoor Stadium in one season. Coach P is one of only four head coaches in Division I history to lead three different programs to 25 or more wins in a single season. Won a gold medal as coach of the 2006 U20 National team and the 2007 U21 World Championship team.
