Midway through the third quarter, the bench unit started to get a rhythm offensively. Following a pair of free throws, Ramu Tokashiki hit a jumper in the lane and then Mosqueda-Lewis hit a turnaround jumper for her first career basket. Mosqueda-Lewis scored the last three baskets of the third quarter for the Storm and finished the game with seven points on 3-for-7 from the field.tokashiki finished the game with eight points. Quanitra Hollingsworth also chipped in during the fourth quarter on defense and offense. Including an emphatic block, she finished with four points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.the Seattle bench poured in 29 points and the trio of Tokashiki, Mosqueda-Lewis, and Hollingsworth was 6-for-12 from the field. After a layup from Crystal Langhorne cut the early deficit to one, Tulsa went on a run and it was sparked by Skylar Diggins who went coast-to-coast for the layup to make it a 7-4 game. The Seattle offense remained cold and missed 12 straight shots, which allowed Tulsa to pull away and take a 21-4 lead.langhorne snapped the streak after she converted a layup and a free throw with 51 seconds left to end the the first quarter 21-7. The struggles continued in the second and the Storm did not make its first basket until the 2:14 mark when Renee Montgomery hit a three. It was one of her two threes of the half as she led the team with six points before the break. Montgomery finished with 10 points and three assists. Seattle has held leads in the second halves of each of the last three games and has dropped each one by a combined total of nine points. Tulsa went into the second half with a 45-42 lead and was able to keep Seattle from cutting into the lead for the first half of the third quarter but Loyd had possibly her best quarter since being drafted. With the Storm down by 57-55, Loyd flashed through the lane and Alysha Clark found her for the tough layup and the foul. She sank the free throw to put the Storm up by one. After a pair of free throws game Tulsa the lead again, Loyd came down and quickly hit a jumper to move Seattle ahead 60-59. She scored 11 of her career-high 21 points in the third. Later in the quarter, Storm guard Angel Goodrich came through against her former team and scored five straight points to cap an 11-3 run to move Seattle ahead 73-66. The teams traded the lead 21 times and with 4:18 and the game tied at 80, Goodrich fired up a shot with the shot clock expiring and banked in the straightaway three to take a three-point lead. Tulsa tied it back up on a free throw from Karima Christmas and Tokashiki answered with a driving layup to go back up by two. Crystal Langhorne followed it up with a basket of her own to go up 87-83. Skylar Diggins made three free throws to cut the lead to one and, with 44 seconds left, Tulsa collected an offensive rebound and found Christmas who hit the three and gave the Shock an 89-87 lead. On the next Storm possession, Langhorne found Tokashiki cutting to the basket for the layup with 32 seconds left to tie it up at 89. Tokashiki finished with a career-high 21 points one night after having a career-high 14 points. But Tulsa had another answer and it came from Riquana Williams on a long jumper to give Tulsa a two-point lead with 10 seconds left, which was the difference in the game.with the score tied at 14 in the first quarter, Renee Montgomery hit a triple from about 29 feet to give Seattle a three-point edge. Tokashiki entered the game and immediately came through with a layup and a jumper to extend the Storm run to 7-0. Tokashiki led the bench crew, which scored 11 points in the first quarter, with six points in the opening period and scored 11 first half points. The Storm pushed hard again to open the second quarter and Jewell Loyd s drive to the basket was good plus the foul to put Seattle up 35-27. She scored 10 points in the first half. Tulsa then turned to Diggins as the Shock went on a 13-2 run to take a three point lead behind 21 first half points from the Tulsa guard. She finished with a game-high 31. (6/27/15) After jumping ahead by double digits in the third quarter, the Storm was unable to hold onto the lead in the fourth as it fell to San Antonio 73-71 on Saturday night. With the score tied at 42 in the third quarter, Sue Bird turned the corner and pulled up from about 12 feet to hit the jumper and put Seattle up by two. Crystal Langhorne and Jenna O Hea were next as they both hit baskets to put the Storm on a 7-0 run and make it a 49-42 game. Langhorne finished with a team-high 18 points on 8-for-9 from the field, nine rebounds, and three steals.seattle (2-6) stretched it out to a 12-0 run, which was capped by a three from Bird, to move ahead 54-42.San Antonio (2-6) fired back with a run of its own and a 13-3 stretch cut the Storm lead to 59-57.Seattle went on a quick 6-0 burst to start the fourth to take a 65-57 lead but then Kayla McBride started to bring the Stars back. She scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the fourth and her jumper with 4:38 left cut the lead to 69-67.The Seattle offense struggled to get a basket and San Antonio took advantage. With the game tied at 71 and San Antonio with the ball, it turned to McBride again and she hit a jumper on the drive to give the Stars a two-point lead with 22 seconds to go.seattle had a chance to tie it but Bird s free throw line jumper was long. The Storm will not have long to rest as it will travel to Tulsa to play the second of a back-to-back stretch against the Shock on Sunday at 4 p.m. Already leading 17-15 in the first quarter, the Storm was able to string a few straight baskets as it attacked the bucket to come up with three straight layups, capped by a reverse layup from Alysha Clark, to go up 23-15. San Antonio began to chip away and used an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 25-23. Two possessions later, Langhorne cleaned up an offensive rebound and was fouled. She hit a pair of free throws to tie it back up and then Renee Montgomery drilled a three with 52 seconds left in the half to move Seattle back in front 38-35. The Storm led 40-38 at the half. TEAM NOTES SO, SO CLOSE The Storm has seen each of its last three games come down to the wire but have ended on the wrong end of the decisions. Seattle has dropped the last three games by a combined total of nine points and have lost its last four by a combined 21 points (5.2 points/game). The youthful team has closed the gap and appears only a step away from turning these close losses into wins. THE BENCH MOB The bench continues to impress in the early part of the season and has been a difference maker all year. In fact, the bench carried the way on Sunday as it poured out a league-high 54 points, which included a career-high 21 points from both Ramu Tokashiki and Jewell Loyd. Entering Tuesday, has averaged 27.8 points through the first nine games, which is second best in the league. TEAM BENCH POINTS INDIANA 28.1 SEATTLE 27.8 TULSA 27.6 NEW YORK 25.6 WASHINGTON 21.0 CONNECTICUT 18.5 SAN ANTONIO 17.8 CHICAGO 15.2 PHOENIX 13.9 ATLANTA 14.4 MINNESOTA 14.3 LOS ANGELES 13.1 AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE! Jenna O Hea and Abby Bishop came up big in several moments on Thursday against Minnesota and were incredibly effective from three. The pair combined to score 28 points, including a career-high 18 from O Hea, and went 6-for-13 (46.1 percent) from distance. SUE PASSES SHERYL With her three pointer late in the fourth quarter on Thursday, Sue Bird eclipsed Sheryl Swoopes for 13th on the WNBA s all-time scoring list. She has averaged 15 points in her two games this week and now sits at 4,890. The next two on the list are Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who finished with 5,013 points, and Tangela Smith with 5,048. BIRD IS THE WORD Sue Bird led a young team into Minnesota last week and scored a season-high 12 points on 3-for-6 shooting with six assists. She then put another solid performance together on Sunday when she scored 11 points and dished out eight assists against Phoenix. The 14-year veteran is averaging 5.2 assists, good for second in the league. JEWELL FINDING HER RHYTHM It has taken some time but top overall pick Jewell Loyd has begin to find a comfort zone on the court. After shooting 2-for-20 over her first two games, she has averaged 8.4 points per game off the bench and over her last three games is shooting 47.4 percent. STRONG STARTS Seattle has jumped out of the gates strong the past three games and is averaging 44.3 points in the first half during that stretch. Additionally, the team is shooting 53.8 percent and has tallied 33 total assists during the first half over the last three games. BISHOP S HOLLYWOOD PERFORMANCE Abby Bishop scored a career-high 18 points on 7-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-9 from three, to lift the Storm to the 60-54 win over the Sparks and spoil LA s home opener. She scored eight of her game-high total in the third quarter. UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY 2014 s 0-3 season start marks just the fourth time in franchise history that the Storm has started 0-3. 2000, 2003 and 2012 are the other three. 2000 marks the worst start in franchise history, when the newly-minted Storm started its inaugural season off 0-4 before winning at Charlotte on June 9, 2000, 67-62. Seattle s 2-6 start in 2015 is tied for the second-worst 8-game start in franchise history. TEAM NOTES LANGHORNE REACHES 3K Crystal Langhorne entered Saturday s game only nine points shy of reaching 3,000 points for her career and made quick work of the milestone as she hit a layup with two seconds left in the first half to give her 10 points, eclipsing the mark. SNAGGED A GEM JEWELL Jewell Loyd declared her intention to enter the WNBA draft following her junior season the University of Notre Dame. Loyd had an impressive three years as a guard for Notre Dame, earning First Team All-American and ACC Player of the Year honors for her performance in the 2014-2015 season. In her junior season, Loyd averaged 19.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and shot 44.3% from the field. In addition, she tied the school record for scoring 20+ points in a single season (20 times), and set the record for most combined points by a player in their first two seasons (1,137). She was named the ACC tournament MVP and Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press following her sophomore season. UCONNections The University of Connecticut Women s Basketball Program is no stranger to winning championships. Sue Bird, Renee Montgomery and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis put together a hefty history of winning at UConn. While none of the three played together under coach Geno Auriemma, they find themselves on the same roster in Seattle. Combined, the trio has accumulated six national championships, nine trips to the Final Four, eight Big East regular season titles, and 10 Big East tournament titles. Each of them have made huge marks as individuals as well. Sue Bird was the school s first ever #1 draft pick in the WNBA, Renee Montgomery was the first ever active player, and 11th overall, to be inducted into the Huskies of Honor and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis owns the NCAA D1 record for three-pointers made (395). BISHOP TO E5.. CHECK MATE Five years ago, Abby Bishop held a spot on the Seattle Storm roster. In 2010, at just 21 years old, she averaged 6.8 minutes per game and 2.8 points per game. Bishop moved home to Australia after just one season and has since taken over the WNBL. Leading the league in scoring and rebounding, at 23 points per game, and 10.6 rebounds per game she was named the WNBL s Most Valuable Player in 2014. Abby is back for round two in the Emerald City. ROOKIES RUN SEATTLE (PART 2) Seattle has taken a new approach to the season this year. Enlisting three rookies on the roster for 2015, the Storm enters the year with the organization s youngest team in history looking to make a splash in Emerald City. In 2001, the Storm relied heavily on two rookies, number one draft pick Lauren Jackson, and guard, Semeka Randall, the first season that Seattle had a winning percentage above.500. The 2015 season looks to number one draft pick Jewell Loyd and number 3 draft pick Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis to help lead the organization into a new era. FROM JAPAN WITH LOVE Ramu Tokashiki spent the 2014-2015 season dominating the Women s Japan Basketball League. Tokashiki led the league in a majority of categories, including scoring (18 points per game), rebounding (11.5 per game), blocked shots (2.13 per game) and field goal percentage (59.8%). The 23 year old Japan native was the 2014-2015 postseason MVP and was also named MVP of the WJBL in her rookie season. Tokashiki makes the move from Japan to Seattle in hopes of joining the Storm as a rookie in the WNBA. Tokashiki is the third Japanese player ever to join the WNBA. BIGS ARE BACK In 2014, the Storm had just two players over 6-2. Through a revamped roster, Seattle has added height to the roster. Four players have been brought in to add more height to the team. Abby Bishop is a 6-3 forward who spent 2014 leading Australia s WNLB in scoring (23), and rebounding (10.6). Ramu Tokashiki, Bishop s 6-3 counterpart, led the Japan s WJBL in four categories, points (18), rebounds (11.5), blocks (2.13), and field goal percentage (59.8). Quanitra Hollingsworth (6-5) will add an inside presence. REFRESHED, RENEWED AND REMODELED The Storm start off the 2015 season under new, yet familiar, leadership. Jenny Boucek, former assistant coach under Brian Agler, takes the reigns in 2015. Boucek has had over 15 years of experience in both the WNBA and the NBA as a player, coach, scout and color commentator. In 2014, she was named the Associate Head Coach of the organization, which makes her new role a fitting one for the Storm. She is joined by new President & GM Alisha Valavanis, and together, the duo has revamped the new-look Storm roster for 2015. THEY GOT BOUCEK S BACK Rob Fodor and Ryan Webb have been named Jenny Boucek s assistants for the 2015 season. Fodor has over 25 years of experience in player development at the professional and the college level. He played college basketball at Hillsdale College in Michigan, where he was a four year starter. After college he played in France, Germany, and South America. Ryan Webb has moved his way up the from being a Storm practice player, to coaching intern (2012), now to having an assistant position on the staff. He focuses on one-on-one player workouts, employing new drills, and assisting with scouting reports. Webb played for Seattle University from 2002-2007. Additionally, Julie Rousseau and Emre Vatansever join the staff as volunteer assistant coaches.

JENNY BOUCEK JENNY BOUCEK BIOGRAPHY WNBA Head Coaching Record: 42-48 Seattle Storm Head Coaching Record: 2-7 Seasons in the WNBA: 16th Season Seasons with the Storm: 9th Season (1st as Head Coach) On January 20, 2015, Jenny Boucek was announced as the head coach of the Seattle Storm, the fourth head coach in the history of the franchise. Boucek spent four seasons with the Storm under the leadership of Agler, rejoining the defending WNBA champions in 2010 as the Director of Player Development and Scouting. She was promoted to associate head coach prior to the start of the 2014 season. Boucek has been involved in the WNBA since it s inaugural season, suiting up for the Cleveland Rockers in 1997. Following a career-ending injury in 1998, she began her WNBA coaching career as an assistant with the Washington Mystics in 1999. She then spent three seasons, 2000-02, in the same capacity with the Miami Sol. Boucek enjoyed her first stint in Seattle on Anne Donovan s staff from 2003-05, a span which included the franchise s first WNBA Championship in 2004. Her first stop as a WNBA head coach came in Sacramento, leading the now-defunct Sacramento Monarchs to a 40-41 clip over two-plus seasons, spanning 2007-09. Notably respected as one of the top coaches in the league, Boucek has spent much of her career as a student of the game. She served as an advanced scout with the Seattle SuperSonics, and more recently, had full access to Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle s training camp in September and October of 2014. She was involved in all coaches meetings, film and practice sessions and player meetings. Boucek also played in Iceland in 1998 and was voted the country s best player after averaging 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists. She returned to Cleveland for the 1998 season but was forced to retire due to a career-ending back injury. A four-year starter at the University of Virginia (1992-96), Boucek helped lead the Cavaliers to four regular-season ACC Championships and three NCAA Elite Eight appearances. She was a two-time GTE Academic All-America team member and two-time ACC selection. Boucek twice earned team Defensive Player of the Year honors and finished her career at Virginia as a member of the 1,000-point club. She also competed in the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1993.
