SWAP SHEET Texas Muzzle Loading Rifle Association June 2018 State Championship Shoot Results October 2018 Fall Blanket Shoot Swap Sheet President s Column After a few years off it s time for me to write another column so I ll start with a recap of the June shoot. Everything went pretty smooth right up until about noon on the last day. In case you left early and were not aware, Richard Eames had a fall in the parking lot while loading his truck. He got light headed, probably from the heat, passed out and went down. He bumped his head and cut his lip. Misty Urban and Ashley Spencer and a few others provided first aid until paramedics arrived. Richard spent the night in the hospital and drove home on Monday. I spoke with him and he is doing well. He appreciates the visits from all who went to see him in Brady. He mentioned Andy and John Hinnant by name. He said he ll be back in October. We had a few new members signed up too. Toby and his wife Anna bought out Marvin s inventory and were on hand to provide that service. They sell Schuetzen and Swiss powder so spread the word to the other clubs. They are planning to be back in October as well. We also had some new 4-H shooters who said they will be back too. Now that I ve mentioned October a couple times already I ll move on to that. The October shoot is my favorite one of the year. The temps should be a little cooler so we can all hope for that. We will have our traditional auction on Saturday night to raise money for the prize table so if you have anything to donate please do so. Remember to bring a prize for the table as well. It is always good to have some variety to choose from. We ll also have the stew pot going weather there is a burn ban or not. I want to shoot with my grandson on Saturday so I ll be looking for a volunteer or two to help out. And of course deserts are always welcome. That s enough for now. Travel safe and I ll see you in October. Dave H.E. RESLEY RIFLE GIVEAWAY The Resley family has donated a rifle made by Judge Resley to be given away at the 2018 October shoot. The rifle is a full stock 54 cal Hawkin style. The barrel is 1 1/8 and 36 inches long and the gun weights just over 13 lbs. I shot this rifle in June and won the X-sticks agg with it. Drawing will be Saturday evening October 6 th. Donation requested: $1.00 for one (1) ticket. Registered Shooters for the October Shoot will received 5 tickets for each registration. Need not be present to win. If you can not attend the shoot use the attached ticket and send to me along with your donation. If you want more tickets make copies the same size as originals. Send to: Andy Larson 831 Wavecrest Ln Houston, TX 77062 Please make sure to send the tickets early enough for me to receive before I leave for the shoot on October 1 st. Thanks Andy

Range Officers and Range House help needed I wanted to thank everyone who stepped up and worked as range officer and taking a turn in the range house in June. As you may know Steve Otteson has taken over as Chief Range Officer and I have taken the Range House. Steve and I both agreed to take these position based on the membership helping out in June. We will need the same commitment for the upcoming shoots. There will be a signup sheet for both range officer and range house. We will have three (3) hour shifts beginning at 8am. 8-11 am, 11am- 2pm, 2-5pm. If you have a particular time you would like to volunteer sign up early. Times will be issued on a first come first serve bases. If we do not get a shift covered we may have to suspend shooting or closed the range house for that period. Hope everyone is having a great summer and staying cool. See you in October. Andy I hope everyone is trying to stay cool the rest of this balmy summer, I can only hope it starts to cool off by the time October gets here. October is a special shoot for me, it was the first shoot I attended with my grandfather in brady. We will be doing the stew pot Saturday and also the auction afterwards. I hope to see everyone in October! Thanks Chris
