By March, the worst of the winter would be over. The snow would thaw, the rivers begin to run and the world would wake into itself again. Not that year. Winter hung in there, like an invalid refusing to die. Day after grey day the ice stayed hard; the world remained unfriendly and cold. Neil Gaiman, Odd and the Frost Giants I think you would agree with me that this has been a difficult winter. Snow, Ice, Bitter cold, and more snow have caused us all to look forward to the beginning of spring. Like this winter, it has been a difficult season here at Oakwood. Sadly, we have seen the resignation of a number of members. But that makes us appreciate more those of you who have reaffirmed your commitment to Oakwood and all that it can provide. Despite the loss, The Board has worked with management to create a budget that will allow us to provide a high-quality experience for our members. In addition, our committees have been working hard to develop new programs to enhance all aspects of the member experience, and to recruit new members. March, when days are getting long, Let thy growing hours be strong to set right some wintry wrong. --Caroline May As the promise of spring begins to bloom, I would like to invite you to allow your Oakwood enthusiasm to also spring forth. Begin imagining the beauty of our golf course, the fun activities in the Golf bar, and the many special events we have planned, including the Brunches. Soon, it will be time for the pool to be opened, and the season will be in full swing. As we begin our season, I would like to invite you to participate in the growth and development of the Oakwood vision. It is never too late to join one of our committees. The committee chairpersons are listed at the end of the newsletter. Please contact them to volunteer or to give constructive suggestions. Also, if you would like a deeper involvement in the direction of the Club, I invite you to consider running for the Board. We have our annual meeting in April and will be filling three Board positions. Come out to Oakwood John Golden It s where you belong

Visit the website for the full Pizza Menu and remember they are available for dine in or pick up. The Board has approved a new Point of Sale system that will be installed and ready to use in April. Our goal is to enhance the member experience and increase efficiency and accuracy. The system will also help us to personalize your experience every time you visit your club by helping us know what your favorites are in the Golf Shop and dining areas. From the Membership Committee Greetings fellow members. I think we can all agree this has been a winter for the ages, and not in a good way, so let s think Spring and new members. Our club year ended just a few days ago, and we had several resignations during January and February. We are now sitting at below 200 golf members, a drop of approximately 10% over the prior year. The board has been working hard to put together a budget that will work at this membership level, but the key is attracting new members in order for the club to grow and provide the amenities we all expect and deserve. The membership committee has put together what we believe is a very attractive new member program, as you can see below. In today s competitive club landscape, we feel at these rates we are an excellent value in comparison to other venues in the area. We owe it to each other to help attract new members to the club. We are not asking for a lot of effort on your part, just give us names of prospects. The staff and membership committee will work hard to secure these folks as new members. You will notice that we have changed the ranges of ages for golfing members from what is currently being used in terms of price points. We will do some additional analysis of our current membership as to the impact these new age bands have on current members, and will certainly consider adjustments as we go through the analysis, but we believe the age bands we are using in our new member program is more in line with what the rest of our market is doing. If you have questions, please reach out to Mark, or a member of the committee, we will be more than happy to help. Thanks in advance for your help in growing membership! 2019 Driver Hot List Callaway Epic Flash The Verdict: The original Epic blew our minds with its jailbreak technology in which two titanium bars connect the sole and crown to maximize flexing in the face. The Epic Flash has this technology, plus a face designed using artificial intelligence: Thousands of virtual prototypes impossible to conceive with traditional methods created a face whose back (under magnification) is rippled like an Olympics moguls run. The benefit is more ball speed across the meat of the face. The head is also extra stable on off-center hits, and there s a sliding weight track in the rear to adjust flight. Retail Price = $530 Oakwood Member Price = $500 Titleist TS2 & TS3 The Verdict: These two distinctly different drivers share a foundation. It starts with a new face design and a thinner-than-ever titanium crown. Together those features help produce higher ball speeds and lower spin than in past models. (Titleist also ensures quality control by inspecting every head for maximum spring-like effect.) The weight saved from the 20-percentthinner crown is redistributed low and deep to help increase the off-center-hit stability of the larger-profile TS2. On the more classic-shape TS3, a sole weight can be adjusted for a fade or draw. Retail Price = $500 Oakwood Member Price = $460 Taylormade M5 The Verdict: Instead of extra adjustability, some of us just want maximum forgiveness. In place of sliding weights, large panels of carbon composite fill the sole. They flank a weighted center section, allowing mass to be placed low and deep on the standard model. There s also a D-Type with 46 grams in the heel area to beat back a slice. And the face? Like the M5, the twisted-face shape helps minimize mis-hits. TaylorMade also starts with an extra-fast (nonconforming) face. Then, the head is injected with resin to bring the speed back under the limit. This intense manufacturing process aims to push every TaylorMade face closer to the edge than the norm. Retail Price =$500 Oakwood Member Price= $475 Mizuno ST190G The Verdict: For Mizuno, it wasn t enough to incorporate a high-strength beta titanium alloy in a complex variable-thickness face with a carbon-fiber crown to help lower the center of gravity. The company s engineers also designed waves on the sole to improve forgiveness and boost the size of the hottest part of the face as much as 50 percent. The ST190 features a steel weight deep in the sole to improve launch and stability on mis-hits. The lower-spinning ST190G has parallel sliding weight tracks to better control spin and ball flight. Retail Price = $500 Oakwood Member Price = $450
