SPF NEWSLETTER From the President s Vise Hello Everyone, I hope you have had a chance to get out and do some fishing this summer. I have been hearing good reports from all over the state. This is a very short newsletter this month as we will not have a meeting in August and we are having our barbeque in July. We have changed the date to the 17th of July at 3:00 pm at my house. We had to move the date back a week as I will be on the East Cape of the Baja fishing for Roosters with my family. I am going to try and catch one from the beach, and if all else fails, I will hire a boat! The club will provide the main meal and some soft drinks, if you want anything else to drink, please bring it. Things to bring for the barbeque would be salads, side dishes, and desserts. Hope to see all of you there. Dale Lindner and I went Froggin the other day. Dale took me to a new reservoir, and even though we did not find a lot of frogs, it was still a great experience. If you have never tried to catch a bullfrog with a fly, you don t know what you are missing! If you are ever interested, please give Dale a call and see if you can set up a time. It is one of those things that should be on your bucket list. I included a picture of Bruce Berman and another Steelhead that he caught. Since Bruce has a new woman in his life, I just wanted to make sure that we all remembered what he looks like, San Pedro Flycasters Sierra Vista, AZ. as we have not seen him in a few months! Remember to attend the club s barbeque, and I hope you all get a chance to do some fishing in the near future. Tightlines, Pat Richards Bruce with another Steelhead! Page 2 June 3rd Meeting - 6:30 PM Our regular monthly meeting will be held on June 3rd starting at 6:30 PM. This meeting will be a little different from some of our other meetings. We will be showing a couple of videos on fishing. They will be entertaining and informative and should be fun to watch. Our scheduled speaker had a conflict and we were not able to get another speaker on such short notice. Rick Weisberg will be tying a special fly for everyone. Don t forget about our Raffle, so bring lots of money. See you at the meeting. Thank you, Board Members Bob Berry s class Club News At our last Board Meeting we discussed the following items. Treasurers report - $6,517.01 in the bank as of May 11th, 2010. We had income of $254.00 which included membership dues, raffles, and shirt and cap sales. Our expenses were $315.22 which included money for refreshments and money to Bob Berry for the class he ran for the members on Saturday and Sunday.. Outings report - Dan, had 4 people sign up for a White Mtns. trip in June. See report on page 3. Conservation report - John Marvin said that the Grand Opening for the Officers Pond will be June 1st. Raffles - Nothing to report Library - We have a website and Jerry and Ray are working on getting it up and running. The club will be meeting at our new place, Thunder Mountain Community Church at 4029 E. Golden Acres Drive off Highway 92. Please look at the map on Page 3. Thank you. Banquet committee is being set up to get ready for our banquet on March 5th, 2011. Location has been cut down to two possible sites. More to follow.

OUTINGS REPORT The next outing will be to the White Mountains area around the weekend of June 19th and 20th. We are looking at fishing several of the lakes and streams in the area, including some reservation lakes. We have a number of people interested at this time, if you would like to participate, please let me know as soon as possible and I will get you some details on the trip. At the may board meeting we discussed some long-range outings. We are looking at a trip to the Flaggstaff area next spring. You may remember that we had a very successful trip there a few years ago. Water conditions look good for this year, meaning that we should be able to fish for some carry-over trout and pike next year. There are also some catch-and-release ponds in the Williams area that may be worth a try. Another potential trip for next year is a return to East Cape, Baja. We will be looking into renting a large house on the beach to fish for roosterfish and jacks from the shore. There are also other possibilities, like fishing for marlin and dorado from a charter boat. In the past, we have even arranged for the boat to pick us up at the house. More information to come as we start to sort this trip out. Also, keep in mind the several trips being offered by Eric and Whitey at Dry Creek Outfitters. Whitey has an excellent trip going to Montana and Alberta, Canada in mid-august. If you are interested, please give me a call. As always, if you have any suggestions or ideas for future trips, please contact Dan Tuttle at 459-5186 or daniel.tuttle@cox.net. Meeting Site Thunder Mountain Community Church At 4029 E.
