BGSU junior golfers Jose Narro and Brett Rinker both finished in a tie at 21st-place overall on the individual leaderboard, as the Falcons finished ninth overall at the fourth annual Colleton River Collegiate hosted by Michigan State at the Pete Dye Course at the Colleton River Plantation Club in Bluffton, South Carolina. Bowling Green turned in a final round team score of 311, +23, on Tuesday to card rounds of 306, 306 and 311 and finish in ninth-place overall with a 54- hole team score of 923, +59. The Falcons finished ahead of Ball State (932), Rutgers (938) and Toledo (945) in the 12-team field. We didn t come out and finish the way we wanted to today in the final round, stated head coach Kevin Farrell. For us to be able to compete for wins, we need to be able to put together a full three rounds of play from top to bottom. We will take this as a learning experience and look to improve on all areas of our game before our next tournament. Narro climbed up seven spots on Tuesday with a final round of 75, +3, to finish in a tie for 21st-place overall with a 54-hole score of 227, +11. The junior carded rounds of 75, 77 and 75, which included five birdies and 36 pars over his 54-holes of play. Rinker led the Falcons over the final round of play with a round of 73, +1, on Tuesday, to leap up 16 places and into a tie for 21st-place overall with a three-round combined score of 227, +11. Rinker improved over all three rounds of play, shooting rounds of 80, 74 and 73 over the two-day event. He finished with a team-high eight birdies and 27 pars in the Palmetto State. Freshman Pablo Heredia Iglesias struggled on Tuesday, shooting a round of 82, +10. Coupled with his first two rounds of 72 and 75 on Monday, Heredia Iglesias finished in 30th-place overall with a 54-hole score of 229, +13. The first-year Falcon totaled five birdies and 34 pars over his three rounds of play. Sophomore Cameron Michalak carded a final round of 81, +9, on Tuesday, while fellow Falcon Trey Walker ended the event with a final round of 84, +12. Michalak placed in a tie for 62nd-place overall with rounds of 79, 80 and 81 for a final three-round score of 240, +24. Walker ended the two-day event with a 54-hole score of 247, +31, to finish in a tie for 79th overall with rounds of 80, 83 and 84. Playing as an individual Max Rispler moved up six spots on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 31st overall with a 54-hole score of 230, +14. Rispler carded six birdies and 32 pars over his rounds of 81, 73 and 76 for the tournament. BGSU s Ethan DeForest and Eli Stacy also both played as individuals for the event. DeForest finished in 86th-place overall with a 54-hole score of 250, +34, while Stacy placed in 89th overall with a threeround combined score of 281, +65. The College of Charleston was able to hold on for the team win with a final score of 891, +27. No. 42 Memphis (893) and No. 45 Michigan State (895) both made a strong push on the final day of play to move up to second and third-place, respectively. North Texas (897) and Cincinnati (907) rounded out the top-five in the team standings.

FALCONS RETURN TO THE LONE STAR INVITATIONAL 11th Bowling Green 305, 306, 303 = 914, +50 T26. Jose Narro 73, 83, 70 = 226, +10 T41. Pablo Heredia Iglesias 76, 79, 74 = 229, +13 T44. Brett Rinker 73, 75, 82 = 230, +14 T87. Max Rispler 91, 74, 77 = 242, +26 T93. Trey Walker 83, 78, 84 = 245, +29 NARRO Falcons Conclude the Lone Star Invitational with a Final Round 303 San Antonio, Texas The Bowling Green State University men s golf team concluded its two days of play at the 2016 Lone Star Invitational hosted by UT-San Antonio with a final round team score of 303, +15, at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas to finish in 11th-place overall in the team standings with a 54-hole team score of 914, +50. The Falcons posted rounds of 305, 306 and 303 over the three rounds of play to make up their final team score of 914, +50. BGSU finished in front of six teams in the 17-tournament field in Cincinnati (921), Louisiana- Lafayette (921), Texas State (930), Miami (Ohio) (931), New Mexico State (932) and Houston Baptist (940). Bowling Green also finished just two strokes behind both Ohio State (903) and Arkansas-Little Rock (903) who finished tied for eighth overall. I was pleased with the way Jose and Pablo finished the tournament out on a high note with solid final rounds today, stated head coach Kevin Farrell. But for us to compete at the level we want to compete at, we have to put together better team rounds from top to bottom. We have to be able to get four solid scores each round and also have to be able to have our players put together a solid 54-holes. Jose Narro saved his best for last this week, as the junior fired a final round 70, -2 under par, on Tuesday to leap up the individual leaderboard to finish in a tie for 26th-place overall. Narro, who entered the final day of play in a tie at 52nd-place, finished his two days of play with rounds of 73, 83 and 70 for a 54-hole score of 226, +10. The Tampico, Mexico native, who played high school golf in the state of Texas, tallied four straight birdies from holes 11 to 14 and finished the day with a total of six birdies and eight pars. Over his 54-holes of play, Narro recorded a team-high nine birdies to go along with 27 pars. Like Narro, Pablo Heredia Iglesias turned in his best score on the week with a final round 74, +2, on Tuesday. The first-year Falcon finished the event with rounds of 76, 79 and 74 to place in a tie for 41st with his 54-hole score of 229, +13. Iglesias was consistent on day two of play, shooting two birdies and 14 pars on Tuesday. For the two-day event, Iglesias finished with one eagle, six birdies and 32 pars. Junior Brett Rinker finished just one stroke behind Iglesias with a 54-hole score of 230, +14, to finish in a tie for 44th overall. Rinker, who tallied rounds of 73 and 75 on Monday, carded a final round 82, +10, on Tuesday, which included one birdie and nine pars. He tallied six birdies and 31 pars over his 54-hole performance. Rounding out the lineup for the Falcons at the Lone Star Invitational were first-year Falcons in Max Rispler and Trey Walker. Rispler ended his two days of play with a final round of 77, +5, to go along with his first two rounds of 91 and 74 from Monday for a final 54-hole score of 242, +26. Rispler, who placed in a tie for 87th, was up-and-down all three rounds at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club, finishing with seven birdies and 24 pars. Walker placed in a tie for 93rd overall with his 54-hole score of 245, +29. The freshman carded rounds of 83, 78 and 84 over the three-round event. He finished with one eagle, two birdies and 27 pars over his 54 holes of play on the week. As a team, the Falcons posted a par-5 scoring average of 4.87, -8 under par, for the two-day event and finished tied for third in eagles with two overall. The New Mexico Lobos, ranked No. 50 nationally, held on for the first-place team win with a final team score of 877, +13. Rice made things interesting over the final round of play on Tuesday, shooting a score of 286, -2 under par, to climb into second-place with a score of 883, +19. Rounding out the top-five in the team standings were North Texas (890), UTEP (896), UTSA (898) and Mississippi State (898), as the Roadrunners and Bulldogs placed in a tie for fifth-place overall.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? WES GATES BGSU MEN S GOLF ALUM (2009-13) I played golf at BG from 2009-13. I currently play professional golf for a living in both Orlando, Fla. and Michigan. Currently, I am on the mini tours and just missed qualifying for the PGA Tour Canada by a couple of shots. In between doing that, I also do demo days for Nike Golf. Along with the above, I play golf at the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan and Bella Collina in Montverde, Florida. I had too many favorite spots in BG. My house on 926 E Wooster will always be a favorite, along with Ziggy s and Becketts. I also liked going to any sporting event to watch and support the Falcons. I really can t pick one favorite memory from my time playing golf at BG. Most of my memories are of all the friendships and great times with my brothers. Some of them were a hockey game against Michigan in the CCHA semifinals, playing in my first John Piper Intercollegiate and winning that same tournament as an individual my senior year. Cheers! Wes Gates, 13

A NOTE FROM COACH FARRELL Dear BGSU Golf Alumni and Fans, We have gotten off to a bit of a slow start this spring season. We are now working out three-times a week because I feel we just haven t been able to finish out our tournaments. For example we had it to 7 as a team through the first 10 holes in the final round at San Antonio (Lone Star Invitational) and ended up finishing the last eight holes at 21 over par. At one point we had a 10 shot lead with eight holes to go on Ohio State. We are close!!! We are currently the second highest ranked team in the MAC behind Kent State. Hopefully we can finish the season strong and compete for a MAC Championship at the end of April! Thanks! KF
