Last Game Andrew Susac drove home two with a double in the fifth as the Oregon State baseball team posted a 5-1 victory over VMI Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium. Susac s double broke a 1-1 stalemate and sent the Beavers to their 10th consecutive victory. Jared Norris singled home a run in the first but was matched when Jordan Tarsovich singled home a run in the second. Susac doubled down the left field line in the fifth for the 3-1 lead. Gaviglio Keeps Rolling Sam Gaviglio has thrown 29 consecutive scoreless innings and has yet to allow an earned run this season. Entering the week, he is 10th nationally with 29 2/3 innings pitched and is eighth with a batting average against of.126. He is the only Pac-10 pitcher to not allow an earned run. Susac s 12 Gamer Andrew Susac carries a 12-game hit streak into this weekend s series, posting a 20-for- 40 (.500) clip during it, tallying six doubles and three home runs with 16 runs batted in. OSU Pitchers During Win Streak OSU s pitchers have been stellar during the 10-game win streak, posting a 1.92 earned run average in 89 innings. They ve walked just 18 while striking out 72. Opponents have just 68 hits for a batting average of.213. Stealing Some Bases Oregon State is 27-for-33 in stolen-base attempts this season, a signfiicant mark in the respect that OSU was 44-for-64 all of last season. The Beavers are 26-for-29 in stolen-base attempts during the 10-game win streak. Notes Of Importance Oregon State is ranked 23rd by Collegiate Baseball, the team s first appearance in the polls in 2011. OSU is 26th in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25, just two points out of 25th. Taylor Starr is the lone current Beaver to have ever faced Long Beach State. He threw 4 1/3 innings in 2008 against the Dirtbags, allowing four hits and a run. OSU s 10-game win streak is the team s second in as many years. The Beavers longest win streak under head coach Pat Casey is 12 in 2007. The last time OSU was shut out was May 19, 2008 in a 10-0 loss to Long Beach State at Blair Field. The Beavers have scored at least one run in all 131 games since.
